I'm getting ready to move from the east coast to the west coast soon and it got me wondering. How many times have you moved from one place to another in your lifetime? I've moved a couple of times, including to college and back home again. But, this will be the first time that I'll be moving away from my family and my home state. This is a major move for me. So, tell me about your relocation experience(s). The good, the bad, and the ugly lol.

For the last 27 years, I have been in East TN. For the last 19 years, except for short absences, I have been in the same county. I might move again some day, but I will stay in this area, not move half way across the country like we did as kids, twice
We moved in a house for a week one time and moved everything straight back when my mom saw a rat as big as a dog in our trash can.
We moved into a house across the street one time. I think it was bigger and the rent about the same or maybe less.

Lets see..1. moved out from home with friends 2. moved to house next door just me and bf 3. moved out of state for good job opportunity for bf 4. moved back home too homesick 5. moved back to home town 6. moved again because house we were in was for sale. 7. bought our first house 8. sold first and bought second house ok so that would make 8 times we've moved in the last 8 years lol. But we love the house we are in and we plan on staying here for a long time :)

I have moved alot around the country and it is always a time consuming thing. But, it taught me not to be attached to wherever I move.

When I graduated from high school I joined the Air Force and went to Texas for basic training. From there I went to Colorado for my tech school training. From there I went to Florida for my first base. Then from there I went overseas to Turkey and back to North Dakota. I got married while in Turkey. While in North Dakota my husband retired from the Air Force and we headed back to his hometown in Kentucky. We stayed there for almost five years and then moved to Illinois and that is where we are living now. So I have moved a total of 7 times.

First, let me say thank you to both you and your husband for serving our country with such dedication. I have family in the Navy currently and my boyfriend used to be in the Navy. They both get bounced around from this place to that all the time and it's always a hardship to be away from the people they love. Anyway, seven moves isn't bad compared to the 20+ times other posters have moved. Thanks for replying sunshinelady!

Oh my...I have moved many times. Here's the list...(Home state, Minnesota)
San Antonio, Texas - Ft. Sam Houston...flew back to MN, then drove back to Texas. Left Texas - drove out to and lived in Jacksonville, NC. Left NC and came back to MN for 3 months, then moved to Portland, OR. Stayed there for 8 months, then went to Arizona, Mesa...that only lasted 3 weeks - hated the heat! Left AZ and went back to MN for 4 months - then moved to Hinesville, GA (Ft.Stewart) lived there for about 8 months...then came back to MN. (This all happened in a 3 1/2 year period!) I have lived in to many cities in MN to count...I always come back...It's home! Five years ago I moved to Duluth, MN and now live in Superior Wisconsin (right across the bridge from Duluth) We are on the tip of Lake Superior, a couple of hours from Canada. (It sucks - I kid you not, we get snow 6 months out of the year!) I have said that "I will not live my life in Minnesota", since I was 7...but, I always seem to return to what's familier. I will eventually get out of here...SOMEDAY!

I have moved 6 times. First two places were my parents homes, other four I have lived in last 7 years together with my partner.
We have to move soon again because our renting agreement finishes on May. It's getting harder and harder to do that because with every movement our personal things get lost, we collect new things which we really don't need, and the most annoying thing to live in rental apartment is that it isn't yours, you never out your soul in making it look cosy and lovely.
I hope that coming movement will be last for a long time!

I've moved a lot but not nearly as many times as my wive's cat, who officially has lived in 19 different places! Needless to say, she actually travels quite well.
