Do you keep clothes that don't fit you anymore?

Do you have a closet full of clothes that are too small that you hope to fit into again someday? I must admit that I used to be guilty of that. I would keep pre-pregnancy clothes hoping to somehow shrink back to that pre-pregnancy body. Now I have come to realize that "things" have shifted and I will never be a size 6 again (lol), I got rid of all of that stuff. My youngest is 4 and in the past year and a half have gone down a size or two which is good because I promised myself I wouldn't go up another size. I just thought it would be interesting to see if anyone else does/did that.

Dear Friend, No...I don't keep them. I give them to some of my relations who are younger than me. I think it's the best way than throwing away them uselesly. Thanks.

Dear Friend, I'm not arguing with you. But don't you like to help someone by giving your clothes...It makes me happy. But i don't know about you. But i think you may feel happy by doing that. Thanks

In my case, I would not give them to anyone. My fav piece of kept clothing happens to be a pair of boxers that no longer has an rear-end to them.

kudos to u! have a strong willpower and work for it. one fine day u will end up using ur old clothes. i m aware of a person about 180kgs tryin to slim himself up just to fit into two lamborgini bentleys that he purchased paying a heavy price. u too can do it without having to pay! give urself time

that's true. keeping those clothes which will no longer fit you can do you good things and can create positive targets for you. like you try to diet so you can again fit in those old clothes. some who are really determined can really fit back in. it's just a matter of choice and willingness.

I was keeping my pre-baby clothes until I realized they were so outdated my kids laughed at me. I still have a couple of pairs of dress pants that I would love to fit into again but not only are styles changing, so too are the sizings. With vanity sizing these days it boggles my mind how I can wear a size 7 pair of capris (that are a tad big on me) but can't fit into my size 9 dress pants from before I had my last daughter (10). I did buy an outfit I liked after my last daughter was born that I couldn't fit into but figured I would some day. That outfit is still in my possession WITH the price tag still on it! I have lost 30 pounds over the last couple of years so I have purged my closet of all the clothes that are too big for me or outdated. My daughter (14) is teaching me to dress like her because she thinks I'm so cool. Really, the new long shirts make one look slimmer. :) I still have some weight to lose, but better not gain again because I got rid of all my fat clothes! LOL!

Congrats on the 30 lbs lost! It is funny how I can where different sizes in different brands. Why is it easier to get rid of stuff that is too big, but we have trouble parting with the stuff that is too small?!?! LOL

You are making sense! There are some things in my closet that are special - it's just like anything that you would keep that has a special memory.

omg I'm a nightmare for keeping clothes, and even for buying clothes that I KNOW won't fit, lol. This one time I brought a pair of jeans in totally the wrong size just because they were in the sale. When I got them home I ended up cutting them up and making a whole new pair of jeans, lol. I love customising all my clothes though, so I guess having lots of random bits of clothing around really helps. Today I brought a pair of jeans a size too small, hoping that i'll fit into them by the time I go to Italy in the summer hehe! Wish me luck!! xx

When something no longer fits me, I give it away.

i haven't grown that big in many years. so, i only have clothes which don't fit me anymore in a few number. some of them, i gave away to my cousins and some friends. but those which i really love the most, i keep them in my closet. especially those clothes when i was still a kid... my favorite clothes to be exact, i don't give them away. i keep them with me.

i don't have a closet full, but i do have a small bag of clothes in the back of the closet that i am not giving away or throwing out. they are things that i know i am going to wear again i don't care how long it takes for me to get rid of this weight. i too had baby who is almost 3 but i know that i am going to drop the pounds. so i am hanging on

I try to go threw my clothes at least once a year and ditch the things I don't wear anymore. I must admit that I do keep my pair of skinny jeans in hopes or dreams that I might fit into them again some day.

There are various ways to dispose off old, small clothes. Back in school, we used to have charity collections every year, and i used to donate them there. Now that i am out of school, i offer these not-so-rusty but still out-of-shape ones to my cousins. Mostly they use them for rough formal wear! :)

I wear very little different clothes, and dont keep clotthes that dont fit. My family (wife and son) keep EVERYTHING. So, I just let them do what they feel comfortable with and mind my own clothes.

I tend to hang on to all my clothes forever. I don't change sizes very much, I mean, I can still wear the jeans I bought in 9th grade, but they aren't so respectable with wholes in the knees, but they are one of my most comfortable pairs! I hang on to my clothes forever, I really should go through them and get rid of some stuff!

Oh yes I use to always keep them around. Till I wised up and just gave them all away. They will be out dated anyway. I heard you shouldnt keep clothes after you have lost alot of weight. Because if you do its easy to put the weight back on and say oh I have some clothes to fit me.LOL And if you dont have them you wont want to gain that weight back. I say out with old and in with the new.LOL

I used to have a closet full of clothes that were too small. But later when I found someone from my family who is not picky at all and likes those I don't wear, I give them to him. I feel very happy that my clothes are not wasted by storing them in the closet. Otherwise I feel guilty. Now I feel good for that.

No,i don't keeep my clothes if they don't fit me anymore.Because i think keeping some unfitbale clothes are resourse waste.They who the unfitted clothes need some room too.So that i have little place to keep my new or fit clothes for me.And if i don't wear them in one year i put them in a big beautiful bag to welfare-house or give them to who really need them.Doing this i will feel satisfiable.The clothes are running their work ,too.Friend amaleigh73,it's just my answer.:}

Yes. I have a closet full of stuff that doesn't fit. I also have a terrible habit of buying the wrong size and being too embarrassed to return it for bigger clothes.
