i am the first to admit that i am a little overweight...i am about 10 lbs away from my healthy weight and while i am certainly not one to critisize, i have to admit that i was pretty shocked yesterday... yesterday, my mom took me out for lunch at an all you can eat Chinese buffet...well i had a tiny bit of salad, some meat, noodles and veggies and then some dessert and i was pretty much finished then... but i was watching several chunkier people (way more than 10 lbs over their healthy weight) just pile on the stuff.... i know you are paying good money for the priviledge of eating there, but hm, still... what do you think? do you notice that there are more people around these days that are largely overweight or is it just me?

I was never model thin all my life. Probably i have more pounds to lose than you. I do not want to be fat forever and tried taking weight loss pills, tea, i even exercise even if not daily or vigorously because i am always active and moreover i seldom eat pork, but i still weigh this much. People should not jump in conclusion right away that fat people probably eat like horses. Like me, i have a very low metabolism that is why its hard for me to loss much weigh. In our city, its a good thing that lots of gym studio have been opened at affordable price and people gets more health conscious than before.

I don't know, if I saw someone "watching me" I'd probably be tempted to give them some entertainment. How many people in there who were thin smoke a pack a day, or pop diet pills that are damaging their hearts or don't wear seat belts or helmets? Don't just target heavy people in your studies of bad habits, otherwise it looks sort of like a prejudice. Personally, I think what someone eats is pretty much their own business.

Just so you know, I am about 50 lbs overweight, I don't overeat, although I may have a little more at an all you can eat, in variety, not in amounts. The funny thing is, I don't overeat as a rule. I work at an auto road racing track & have to occasionally chase cars with fire extinguishers, I ski, roller & ice skate, hike & bike as often as I can. My BF eats more than me as a rule, & yet...he gains not an ounce. I have a 13 year old son who I keep up with most of the time. I was abused as a girl, yet have been able to come to terms with it. I am not trying to hide. So, any ideas why I look the way I do, when I do the things that I do? Judge not, yet ye be judged...we are all not overeaters.

well i am an overweight person..and your post is one reason why i hate eatting out with my husband cause i am always so worried about other people watching me thinking God shes fat or how can she eat this or that..i wonder sometimes do people think overweight people havent tried? to lose the weight? because Lord above knows i have ..and i wonder sometimes does anyone know how hurtful a biting comment about being fat kicks some people right into eatting things they shouldnt be eatting in the first place...i myself am on a life style change right now ..going slowly but its going..I have lost several friends in this life due to them going for gastric bypass because they couldnt bear the blunt of hunt the world was throwing at them anymore ..simply because they liked an extra brownie or doughnut..they lost their lives? ..I'm tired of living in the shadows because people judge by weight thats what i say now..I am a person..i am valued..i am loved..and i am human..and i am entitled to live on this earth just as anyone else is..buffet or no buffet

Well I hate to admit it but I'm one of those chunkier people to put it nicely. It took my doctor telling me to lose weight or die before I realized what I was doing to myself. I didn't go on a diet, I just stared eating healthier foods and eating less. I'm proud to say that I'm much healthier now and as a bonus I've lost 50 lbs and am still losing. About another 25-30 lbs I should be at my ideal weight but I'll let my body decide where I'm the most comfortable. Over the years we got brainwashed in to thinking that fast food and sweets were a viable alternative to a home cooked healthy meal just because it was fast and convenient. It's all over the TV, radio, magazines, and billboards. We fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Hopefully, with all the awareness now about the dangers of cholestrol, trans fats, salt, and refined sugars, we will all be heading for a healthier way of eating. It's going to take time and unfortunately a lot of people are going to die way too young.

Congratulations on losing 50 Lbs. !!! That is not easy!! I too am overweight and still working on it.(I have lost about 30 Lbs so far) It seems to me that all the stuff that is quick to fix is not good for you and it is hard to find time in our busy world to cook all the time. Also it seems that healthy food is so expensive. I would like to eat healthier but it gets so expensive to keep up. Junk food and convenience foods are cheaper.

I am 5'4 1/2" and I believe I am 20 lbs. overweight. I would want to lose the excess weight but most of the times I lack the motivation to do so. I don't really like eating at buffets cause I know it is just an initial craving. I will never be able to eat as much anyways.

No you are not alone there cher913, me too im finding ways to lose weight. I tried a lot of diet... but mostly its hard to be successful. What works me is Xenical (diet pill) but with discipline (strong discipline). But of course there are some consequences too taking it, you have to constantly release Oil in your body. i lost 20lbs in that diet, but i dont eat fatty food, or if i do... just in small amounts. Being overweight is bad not because you look big BUT more of our HEALTH. I'm focus on that, until now im trying to lose more weight. :)

I am largely overweight! I hate it! I got here slowly just a few calories more then I should be eating I guess. I don't eat huge quanties of food at one time but I am not an active person so obviously I eat more then I burn off. Even though I am hugely overweight. I am shocked sometimes when I go out to eat and see what some heavy people like me eat. Or heavier then me too I might add. It makes me sad. Yet I over eat and that is bad and sad to. What fustrates me the most is skinny people who can enjoy way more food then I can. That really irritates me as I love to eat. I obviously eat a bigger portion then I should for my activity level so I have to either move this body or I have to cut the portion size. I am half way through my life or more and I really don't want to be over weight like this for ever. I do know what you mean. There are way to many not fat people in the world but obese people in the world. It is really way to sad to witness and to be a part of.

I have probems controlling my eating habit ,too. Whenever I see "heavier than normal" peole in some restaurant piling n what they eat, I don't uuallyhave the guts to criticze, instea I think that maybe that's what makes them happy, they know better what to do with their own bodies, so I just let them be.. and eat my stuff hoping nobody notice..

First of all I believe that people should be judged for the content of their character and not anything else. If you are overweight it is an issue that concerns you as an individual and not anybody else. It's going to affect your health and not anybody else no matter what they have to say to you. If you think your obese and your the only one then your wrong. Beacause there are far too many people obese right now than there did couple of years back. And this is complex that overweight people have. So if you really don't want to be bothered by it, do something about it . You can still enjoy your chinese buffet as long as you eat what is right for you and stop being bothered by others. Its all in the mind...

obesity is a definate paoblem today , an epidemic if you like. But it is like a disease, and should nt be judged. Overweight people already feel self conscious about eating in public , rightly so if people are looking at them thinking that they are eating too much. Some small people i know can eat just as much as any bigger person.

Yes i do have to agreee there is alot more obese people in the world today than there ever was but there is a vase amount of reasons why they are overweight too although some do come by it honestly by stuffing there faces too often. I was one of the heavier ones and still am really but i am eating right and exercising and i was 230 pounds and have since lost 50 pounds. Mine weight gain was caused by medications i was on and depression but i stopped take the meds and i am much better off for it.

Oh,no, its not just you, there are a lot of people nowadays that are irresponsibly overweight, and have no knowledge of how unhealthy it is! And I was on the way also, until fate stepped in and woke me up! I had to have cancer surgery, and everything has gone well! But as I was discussing my surgery with my doctors, they were telling me that everything had gone well, the only trouble they had had, was with how overweight I was, but they managed in spite of the excess weight around my torso! And this told me, that a person should not go around with all that extra weight around the inside of your body! I decided to do something about it on my own, and now, I have gone from 65 lbs. overweight to 24lbs. overweight only!

Obesity is a huge problem with in our culture and I think it has a lot to do with takeaways and all you can eat places not to mention cars and remote control devices. In a discusion I had a bit back it was brought to my attention that 50 years ago and sooner not to many people where over weight because you would have to do most thing manually and cars werent two per family. It is something we all have to address and its well documented on how over weight we are as a society. I am also not one to judge and have a little excess weigh but very obeise people are much more common place.

My mom was overweight my entire life. Not her entire life. She sort of basically got lazy after she had kids and didn't bother trying. You know, she'd always blame it on this or that when really it was cause she was always eating! Eventually when she became what's medically referred to as "Morbidly Obsese" and she got stomach stapling surgery. She lost a lot of weight but slowly gained it back... when you get that done you have a smaller stomach so you can't eat as much in one sitting...but once the food digests a little you can pack more in. Anyway..point being last night her and my father came over after they'd had dinner. as she's sitting here she's like "so what kind of food do you have to snack on?" and my dad is like "you just ate dinner" and she's like "I know" and I said "you're supposed to have a smaller stomach you know... but it sure don't look small.." probably not the best things to say... but sometimes I admit... I wonder a little about people. Mainly how they can let themselves get that way. and I know sometimes it isn't all their fault, but still! and I'm not skinny myself.. i'm sure i'm a few pounds over what I "should" weigh.

i'm kind of little bit overweight too...start with my pregnancy on 2001...before that i only 105 pounds after pregnancy rocketed to 150 pounds...plus here in united states, it's kind of hard to order "small portion" meal. But i noticed that several restaurant already try to make diet menu or smaller as in cut in half portion as usual order. I think after that documentary movie Super Size Me, people start really concern about their weight and health
