How many books do you own?

Hi to all. Well i must say that i have a LOT of books. I collect a lot, i read a lot (although not as much as i used to when i was younger). I have boxes of books that probably total well in the thousands. They are scattered everywhere in my apartment and i do plan on selling or giving away most of them. I collected most of them from book sales and friends who were getting rid of their books. I just can't seem to throw away a book even if it's in bad condition. How many books do you own and have you read most of them? I have read about 15% of the books that i own.

We moved pretty recently, and I sold a lot of my books online and at yard sales, and still ended up giving some to GoodWill. Even after that, we still have two tall bookcases filled with books, and more lying around the apartment. (I think I unpacked all of the books!) I've read at least half of the books we own, maybe more.

I own a lot of books too, but not nearly as much as you. I probably have a couple hundred books. I feel ashamed to admit that I have only read a small portion of the books I own. I used to read a lot more before I got a computer. Now I can't seem to tear myself away from the computer to catch up on reading because I'm so busy with my online money making ventures. I really need to take a day off from my online businesses to catch up on some reading. ~Kythe42 http://lemurianphoenix.blogspot.com

I have to say most all of the books I have I haven't read because I generally either trade or give away most books I read. I love to share a good book. I post them also on paperback swap so I can get credit for ones I send out and then in return get more that I want. I am an avid reader. Believe me, if there was a "Book Collectors Anonymous" I'd probably be a proud member! LOL

Wow,.. I am a great book lover. They are my best friends I ever had in my life.Rather people still call me a book worm. I buy books available for sale to keep up my budget.I have maintained quite a large collecion of books at home. And I am not intending to sell them in future whatever may happen. For an instance I happened to travel abroad with my husband for 6 months recently and I purchased 8 books few novels and poetry books. My husband was insiting me to sell them off or donate them to library. How can I do that I love them so much... I payed etra money for shipping them along with my heavy luggage, but still I was happy that my freinds remained with me.

I collect books too. Once I start to buy a book of a particular series, I just have to have them all in my house! I read a lot but I don't have much time and energy now and therefore I would say I am same as you that I did more readings when I was younger. I think I have read around 30% of my books. I store them in different drawers, and bookshelves and I am planning to read them one by one in my career break. These days I fall in love with travel writings and I tend to buy everything in the categories that interest me. Those definitely lighten my mood up because when I am reading them, I feel like I am in the trip also. *laughs* I guess another big collection is being welcomed to my place!

I fell in love with a series of books by Andrew M. Greeley called the Irish series. I have a few of them and I understand he has written more. I would love to have them all but I can't justify purchasing them when I don't have time to read them. Irish Eyes, Irish Gold and Irish Love are the three I have but I know he has written more.

*laughs* Yes I know I don't have time for all the books I have too! But it's like I always have hope in future, like I would told myself that I would read them when I finally retire (but it's like some 30 years away if I am lucky!).

Yikes! I've probably read about half to seventy-five percent of what I own. I have three bookcases just in my room that are packed with books. I had to take about half again that many to my storage shed just to be able to get around. My Amazon wishlist keeps getting longer and I keep buying from it, too. I think I'm addicted.

Hi there. You must be a voracious reader to have owned such a huge compilation of books! As for me, I couldn't keep track anymore as to how many I own, because I do tend to give away my used books. I hate to see them collecting dust in the shelves and would rather that someone else reads them. But I keep the really really beautiful ones that I love. Cheers to us wide readers!

I have a room full with books, and I'm proud to say I have read more than half of them. The thing is, is I go pass a bookstore, I weak! ha ha ha So I keep buying books from bookstores offers, but then I read first the ones my friends' lend me so I can return them soon, and I keep "collecting" a pile of pending books to read. I do read a lot on the bus to and from work, though...

Maybe you won't believe this but I own about 10,000 books 5 years ago (I mean me and my family). The house already looks like a library because it was filled with books. When we decided to discard them, many school owners were like rushing to the house to buy the books because we only sell them at a very cheap price and the books are relly worth keeping, you can really use them for reaserch and knowledge builders. We sold one truck of books to the school were my aunt was the head there. Now, we still have books here maybe 2000 but it's ok. Disctionaries were left and books about love stories too. The sad truth, I only read about maybe 100 of the books here.

I am not sure. If you add the ones my parents own to the ones I own we got hundreds...many many books. I have thought about counting my own books sometimes, but i finally didn't decide myself to do it. Maybe i will.

i don't think it is well-advised to have more books than you can read. what are books used for ? just to decorate your bookcase or to show off? you may stop buying books you don't read if you understand how much wood is spent on printing every year.

A few months ago I bought about 15 Stephen King books and have only read one so far- I've been too preoccupied with novels and poems for uni (shakes fist at education!). Near my uni, I have a book store I walk past every day and it has brand new books for less than $5 and it is so hard to resist not going in and buying a cheap book.
