Would you accept money from a stranger?

June 7, 2007 10:59am CST
If you was approached by someone you didn't know and they offered you a bag full of money. (no strigs/ties) Would you accept it or Walk away for it? Just a general question. Personally I wouldn't accept money from anyone, never mind someone I didn't know. Having said that though I could see why some would take it and do a runner but I couldn't not knowing where it came from or if the money was fake... (probably wouldn't full stop) How about you? ~Joey

If someone shoves me a bag on money in the streets, that is definitely too good to be true. I don't think I would accept it. But if I somehow end up with the money anyway, I think the safest way would be to make a police report. That way, if I get the money back later on, at least the money is clean. I wouldn't want to be rich one day and thrown into jail the next. :P

The smartest answer there lordy :) Being safe is better than getting caught with the money and then being thrown into something which you wouldn't know about but still get done for it. Kudos! ~Joey

Nope, I wouldn't. Heck, I won't even take money from people I KNOW unless I did work for them and I earned it! There are ALWAYS strings attached to money, so I never take a handout. If I did, I would probably turn around and give it all to charity!

Yay!! Cassidy22 :) How are you doing? It's nice to see you again.. (nice to be back too) I would be the same, I find it hard when someone wants to buy me something for my birthday I'm no help and normally I tell them just to enjoy the day. Yup.. good point, the money could land with unwanted strings. (nice to mention a charity too) Kudos! ~Joey

I would only take the money after I find out where the money came from and why is that stranger is giving it away to begin with? Then I will decide to take the money or not.

My friends and I were at a gig on Monday, it was about 11pm and one of my friends was really hungry. She wanted some doughnuts but didn't have enough money for them. A really lovely lady overheard and gave her £1! I really think that was a very nice thing to do and she was very glad to accept the money. If someone wants to do something nice, let them! As for a bag of money, i'd wonder why they would want to give it away but i would probably take it. Just being honest. :]

I never thought about that question, as i think it is not probable to happen. No one gives you money, neither the one you know, or the ones you don´t know, well at least a bag full of it. Usually you have to work, produce, create something , to activate that gesture of "giving money", in exchange of...

Why not accept when no strings attached. Once a man came to me and said that he would give me Rs.1000 if i said Jesus is great. I thought he was joking and said so. He said he is serious and took out a note and asked me to repeat Jesus is great. I said Jesus is great and he gave Rs. 1000 and requested me to visit a church. That day i visited a church and enjoyed with the money. I never came across that person again.

this actually happened to me! a few weeks ago i went to a casino near by, and i was standing in line to get change, and 3 people in front of me was this guy who must have won alot of money, because he was smiling and telling the teller how happy he was, well he turned around and gave me and two other people in line 100 dollars, and said "this will bring good luck to you"! we were all shocked, and i of course said no that i couldn't take his money, but he said he would just give it to someone else...so i took it, and didn't bother getting change, and went home 100 dollars richer!!!

I would not accept the bag of money offered by any stranger. We wouldn't know if the content of the bag is really money or worst a bomb, LOL. I don't think anyone of sane mind will bother to go out of the street, pick someone randomly and charitably offer the money to that person.

In my opinion Joey a lot of things happen for a reason and that they happened to you because of what you previously did which is the Karmic system of the Universe...so if ever someone gives me a bag of money I would accept it as long as it has no strings attached. Who ever had it before had his Karma to loose it I had the Karma to have it only that....well it will buy a lot of things that I need hahah

It always happen in the movies. If they give me a proper reason of why they give it to me, I will accept it. If they say noting, I won't accept it. So it depends.

Wow...well I would certainly be tempted...I think anyone would..but I don't think I would take it...you never know where it came from or what they did to get that kind of money...I would rather be poor then have any complications in my life...

I'm afraid I would turn it down. I would be too skeptical about what the 'catch' might be! Also I would worry that the money was stolen or something. People just don't go around giving money away in bags! If someone wants to give me money because they feel that I need it, they can do it in a more accepted fashion!

I still remember the time back at my middle school it was a normal, messed-up day for me. You know, the bullying, the harassments, students getting me in trouble. Then, from out of the blue, one student came to me, and unbelievably, he gave me a sum of money. It wasn't much. I can't exactly remember how much, but somehow, it was unexpected. I don't know if this was a miracle or not, but at least it eased me a little. But now that i'm not so trusting now that there are endless scams, con artists, and the like, I wonder what's the catch before accepting, because I don't want to get any "dirty money". But other than that, i'd accept it if there aren't any negatives to this. If it's a huge amount, I thought it would be too good to be true, but in that case, it's also too good to pass up.
