Victoria Beckham - is she a vegan?

June 7, 2007 2:45pm CST
Someone told me today that things should get easier for me to be a vegan as apparently Victoria Beckham is now a vegan so it will be the new fashionable thing to be. I don't read the tabloids so would be interested to know if there is any truth in the rumour. I think it will be very bad for veganism if loads of teenage girls start changing their diets without learning about nutrition first and then losing lots of weight and getting ill. I think it should be a well thought out and researched decision not something done on a whim. What do you think?

Yes you are very correct here. If girls just took to becoming Vegan as a fad it would be disastrous if they are not informed correctly on how to go about becoming Vegan. I think it is irresponsible to do something without being fully aware of the process of change and nutritionally aware also of what is right for consumption. By the way I really miss your sister on here. I always loved her chats and discussions. She is surely missed. I will email her soon. I have been so so busy.

My sister says that she doesn't make enough money on this site and is busy doing it in other ways instead. I have taken a break from the site too as the same topics keep coming up but hopefully it will get better again now after some time away.

I was under the impression that she is not a vegan. But she is a vegetarian. (From the news that Gordon Ramsay raises his lambs at Beckham's house)

It would be marvellous if she became a vegan, as a lot of girls and women would no doubt copy her. But she is pitifully thin so it could be a double edged sword. Somehow I suspect she eats very little of anything at all judging by the look of her!

Well I had certainly never read or heard that Michelle, and I admit I do read the tabloids far too much. I’m sure if she is, then it will be just a passing phase, and it won’t be done properly or with any commitment. Victoria does seem to have a habit of flitting from one “phase” to another depending on her whim. However, a plus side may be that many young girls who like Victoria will be more interested in it as a result of her involvement, and even if she doesn’t stick with the regime herself, it is possible that some girls may get really interested in it, and research properly, and the word will therefore start to spread!

I do agree with you that before becoming one should know more about being a vegan. However, victoria is already of age and a mother. I notice that as one gets older, one becomes more conscious of ones health. I guess that explains why a lot of celebrities become vegan.
