As of this day I still have quite a few dfreinds on my list that evidently have not nor care to read/abide by the mylot guidelines. A few of these friends on my list still copy/paste articles from the web. This I know because I've done a search on google and sure enough theres many copied. The problem is that they do not give credit to where they got this so called discussion. The problem I have is do I report this myself? Do I P.M. letting them know? What would you do if you had a friend on your list that did this with most of their discussions? Report them? P.M. them? Delete them? I hate the idea of reporting a member actually. HELP!!! One thing I do is not respond to them as I know in time that someone will report it as abuse and if I had responded I'd lose points if it was deleted. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi grandpa. I think its best that mylot should not allowed any copy or paste articles on any discussions. There may be some other threads that has an interesting articles to share. BUT I always found myself staring at the screen with nothing to contribute. What really annoyed me are topics that are not known to us. I never reported any of it but skipped it and move on to the next one.

I have not responded to those discussions that I feel or have proven to be copy/pasted as I dread losing points etc. So I breeze past them all. I also hate the ones where they post the whole news story and it doesn't get deleted. Grrr!! And wiothout a link either. I've copy/pasted a sentence or two then added the link to news stroies after I give my opinion on them. Anyhow thanks for the response. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have been following some of your threads and you always left some questions for me to respond. I have come across copy and paste discussions that make no room for anything to discuss about. :P

Well I have friends who do it too. I just ignore it or take them off my friend list. (especially if they show no desire to be my friend) I must admit the only rules I've broken is linking to my site inside discussions but I always remain to the point and actually answer and then leave a message. Unlike some who just post the link and then go away :) If you feel they'd listen pm them but you know they may react badly towards you which wouldn't be called for but it might be somewhere you don't want to go. Kudos Grandpa Bob ~Joey

Maybe you should PM with a gentle reminder of the myLot rules. If that does not work, then you should report them the next time, friend or not. I have reported people before, but not usually on my friend's list, and not usually for copy/paste violations. At first, the discussions will just get deleted, and they will lose points, and people who posted to them will lose points. If they do not change their ways, and pay attention, then they will get banned, and they should be, if they know better, but expect that the rules do not apply to them. If you cannot do that, then at the very least I would remove them from my friend list, which I have done because I cannot prove anything once or twice.

I might have to PM the next time I get the email and it's another violation. I hate deleting friends and even hate it more to report them. Hahahaha!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I would have no problem IMing the poster to let him/her know that this is unacceptable. If they continue to do it, I would delete them as friends. Just my 2 cents . . .

i would just point them toward the rule itself, and tell them they'll get in trouble. some are still oblivious to it,they may not know.

I think that you've done the thing by pming them because maybe they were not aware they were violating guidlines and infringing on copyright. I would also report them to mylot so the discussion is removed. Have a nice day Bobby. :)

I did send them a PM letting them know the violations that they had done. The worst is that they are from 2 different blogs. i ALSO ATTATCHED THE LINKS TO THE DIFFERENT BLOGS. i JUST HOPE THEY CEASE THIS BEFORE IT HURTS TOO MANY OTHER MEMBERS.I am now wondering if they are blogs listed here as well. This can be some serious trouble for this member. YIKES!!

Yes, grandpa, I have the same problem! I have been grappling with what to do with these friends too. If I PM them, they may get pi$$ed off and stalk me on the boards...giving me negative ratings. I can't seem to let myself report them, so what do I do?! Like you, I do not post a reply to their copied/pasted discussions. Ah the big problems in life....

That's the opther fear I have. The ratings being abused because a member cares about others here. I fear being rated a negative just out of vengance. This friend I don't think would do that but it's still a fear. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

well, as one of your friends, I know I did a onle line discussion and you told me about it and it helped me out. I wonder if they knew it was against the rules? I agree they should've read them, but I know sometimes you forget. You should always post where you get the info, as it is considered plagarism if you do not site the source. If you really think it is becoming a problem with the particular individual I'd report it, but if its just a one time thing, I'd ignore it. =)

Hello Grandpa Bob, if you want to be nice and don't mind the time, pm them to let them know. Most of the time you might be ignored anyway.. So if you feel like it, report them using the ! button. Always provide the source location where the post was copied from. You will save the admin time this way. ;)

My friend, Yes, I am seeing a lot of this as well....Like you, I do not respond....but I think that a friendly warning in the form of a PM is probably what I would do...especially if it is someone that I am close to...I would not want to report them either... However, If I did stop and take the time to write them a personal message and then they just disregarded it....i would feel that I had little choice but to delete them...I would not spend time with a person like that in my neighborhood...so I must utilize the same ethics here at myLot.... Good discussion, Grandpa Bob.... Of course, this could be easily fixed if people would just give the proper accreditation to the author of these words that they have chosen to use......they deserve the praise....stealing one's word/thoughts is WRONG!! It is difficult....I know that I would not want to do this...but I would not report them....I do not want the job of the "discussion police" but I do not agree with plagiarism in any form...and if I continued to have to look at it....I would feel that I had no other choice eventually....

I don't either want that title. But evidently there are some here that do and will report them which is great. I guess my heart is just too big to do the reporting myself. Hee hee. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I do not report abuse to mylot either but lets look at it this way, the abusers are steeling from mylot. mylot does not like one line questions or discussions I ignore them and do not respond to them. I should be turning them in because it is a direct violation to the rules on mylot. I have in the past written to those friends and told them they are breaking the rules of mylot and told them how to expand on their discussions. Grandpa Bob have you thought about doing that? Maybe that person does not know about plagerizering, also give them a warning if they continue you will feel obligated to turn them in. I hope this helps and I will be taking my own advise.

I PMed this friend. And I feel they know the guidelines. Hoping they do anyhow. I hate to report and delete friends for this type of stuff. I just bypass those discussions and let others respond then pay the consequences if it gets deleted. Thanks for the response also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I would give them the benefit of the doubt, so a little reminder (via PM) of that rule might be nice (maybe they're newish or simply don't know) but if they still keep on, I might report them or simply remove them from my friends listy. Which I'm actually looking into how to do because I have some guy on my list WhO wRiTeS LiKe ThIs and it's driving me all sorts of insane! Lol. Good luck gramps!

That type of writing is annoying. I sometimes (a lot) forget to turn off my caps after my infamous signature and responses are all in caps. I'd better be careful huh? Hahahaha!! I did send this friend a PM with the links to prove where these 2 discussions were copied from. Hope this member changes their ways SOON. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I've been noticing that happen more and more. I've never reported anyone. I think the best thing is probably just not answer the post when we can tell it has been copied. Though for the ones who contiually do it, I'm not sure, I guess they really should be reported. LoL well I wasn't much help was I?

Well i don't think you should inform them in anyway let them do their business. When they get caught they would be banned by the authorities of the site till that time you can just request him not to continue outsourcing other sites contents to fill your belly. It would seriously sabotage our reputation as well as the site's they could also sue us if the content is copy right. Well that never going to happen with members like us

I'm noticing it too. I will PM my friend and warn him that if he continues I will have to report him/her.
