Can you remember your first day of work? I have not worked a full time job in 6 years. I've been a stay at- home- mom. How do you make that transition? It feels so strange. I didn't realize how out of touch I was. I interviewed for the position Thursday and received a email the next day with the job offer I couln't believe it!! They interviewed at least 20 people and they chose me. How good does that feel?!? I guess God is with me. I didn't think I did that well on the interview.
Monday was my first day. It is cool to be back in "Corporate America". I haven't been on mylot for a couple of weeks because of the job. Is it , was it kind of weird getting back into the swing of something that you hadn't done in a while? What did you have to do to adjust?

First off BIG congratulations on your new job and managing to beat 20 people to the post. I bet you feel on top of the world.
I regularly start "new" jobs, well, I regularly move jobs within the same company when they tell me to move, so I know how it feels to be the new person in the workplace. I started this job in January in a different part of the country and it is always strange to enter a new environment, I hope that you have been made to feel as welcome as I have been.
Sometimes there are some places that are awkward to try and integrate into and you end up doing all of the "ground" work yourself, but here I have been made to feel very welcome.
All the best in your new career choice, I wish you the best of luck and I know you will do will.

I am so happy for you. What a blessing! I've almost been out of work for 6 years as a stay-at-home mom.I had to adjust to that because I was use to working two jobs and going to school. My son will start kindergarden this year. I am hoping to find a decent job again soon.

Congratulations on your new job! For me it's the other way around. I have been employed for twelve years and I just recently quit my job. I'm at the moment a stay at home mom. I'm saying at the moment because I will still look for a new job maybe after a year when my son gets older. I just wish that I could still have a good job when I decide to come to work again. It's so hard to adjust from being a career woman to just staying at home. But its all worth it because I got to spend time with my son. It must be also hard for you to adjust not being with your kids all the time. Anyways goodluck in your new job and congrats again!Cheers!

I can remember each time I started working at a new place and I go into things, I just couldn't talk to people that much as I am shy at first.
The jobs was easy to pick up and I loved them, my currant job is the one I prefer but I would prefer to be working else where.
Kudos,
~Joey

Congratulations on the new job! While it is exciting, a new job can also cause a lot of nervousness. Go into the new job realizing you won't learn everything you need to know in a day or two. It takes time to learn all the specifics of a new job, where things are that you will need, what everyone expects, what you are supposed to do, not to mention how to do it. The first few days might seem a little overwhelming, but give yourself time. Experts say it usually takes the cycle of a full year to really feel at home at a new job. I've found for myself the at-home feel can take 3 months to a year. Good luck. Since they hired you, they obviously have confidence in you. Now just have confidence in yourself and you will do well!

Glad to hear that! I was out of work for a year and a half then I decided that I wanted to work again. It was hard at first because I was use to taking care of everything in the house and when I get home I feel really stressed when I see things not kept that way I do. I didn't really have problems adjusting in the office because it wasn't so long time ago when I left my other job. But finding something to wear was an everyday challenge, actually until now it still is. I can't wear jeans and sneakers as often as possible. But the good thing is I was able to socialize again! Good luck to your new job!:)

I was at a job for 14 years and got laid off. What a big change. I am know out there looking for a job. It is definitely a weird experience. I have been laid off for about 6 months so it is definitely time to get back to work. Nice to hear someone else had a good experience with it. Thanks.

Hello kynni. Glad to see you here again. I'm doubly glad to know that you will be back in the real corporate world. I have been a stay-at-home for 8 years now. 3 years ago, I started to work on my own. I used my study room as my office and do the marketing and selling all by myself. It was pretty difficult at first. I needed to reconnect with the outside world and learned the ropes of earning money. I tried to toughen up and reminded myself that I can do this. I can say that my sideline is helping me to earn income on a daily basis.

Congratulations! I believe that you deserved it.
I remember also my first job. I was so excited because after my hard study in college at last I will be compensated for what I've learned.
It was a long way of adjusting becuase I'm facing now the real world. If you failed in your work it will not be forgiven that right away like in school. At work you must concentrate and stay focus all the time all day.
good luck! I'm happy for you ;)

Good. But you're still in the rat race, dear. You still chose the well-travelled road rather than create a new road. At the end of it all, I hope you will be fine.
