As you know on Monday I had my mobile phone stolen from the gym, I went in to the police station and had to make a full statement, asked if I would be prepared to attend court IF it came to it, I said absolutely, prosecute the fookers no questions asked
It was a little comfort that I was insured but that's not the point I lost a lot of memories, personal stuff and photos, I was violated and it felt like rape knowing someone out there had it.
I got a new upgrade on my phone this year but I couldn't get on with the new phone so I used my old Nokia 3360 which was stolen
I made a claim, and it states that you are NOT covered if you leave it in a public place, but being a PRIVATE gym and you have to log in when you go in might make a difference.
I got the claim form today and I was absolutely FOOKED off to find out I have to pay £100 as part of the claim, what the........ The phone is NOT even worth £100...
I went to phone them up to give them a piece of my mind and tell them exactly where to shove their fooking insurance but the office was closed for the weekend, now I've got to brew about and there's a dark thunder cloud hanging over my head now
£100? What's the point in taking out insurance for mobile phones? It's a rip off, it's a racquet and I will damn well tell them so....
ANGRY ANGRY ANGRY!
Do you insure your mobile phones?

Stupid isn't it...
I don't, I used to be it wasn't worth it. I've never lost or had a phone stolen so I thought the money wasn't worth being ripped of by them.
A friend once had to cough up half the price of his phone which was stolen just to replace it.
It's very lame, but I hope you find a way around it buddy.

That sounds like a scam company. i WONDER IF YOU CAN REPORT THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU....that should not be legal....not when the phone dosent even cost a hundred and I have never had mine insured....we all better watch out for these scams...

Holy Crap Wolfie- you really are having it bad- I know I would be pissed if I had to wait all weekend to yell at someone too.
I don't ins my phone but my husbands is- (he has a tendency to lose things). However if it makes you feel any better I dropped my cordless house phone in a sink full of water - and now it doesn' work- I'm trying to dry it out- I was so annoyed last night I couldn't sleep- now today can say OH WELL.
Hope you give them He!!---good luck

I don't pay insurance on any of the small things not even my washer and dryer..What you pay a month will buy you a brand new one in a few months so I feel it is a big scam.
Buy a new one Sweets and try to move on.
I would talk to the gym to see if they would throw some free months at you or would maybe pay for a new phone.
Do you have victim's funds there?
Next step is start a blog..there are lots free.Tell the name of the phone and company that insures it and tell others so it won 't happen again to another person.Be sure to email your blog address to the company...hehe

No, I do not insure my cell phone....like you I have learned that it just does no good...they make more of my money and do absolutely nothing to help me when I actually needed them.....It is very frustrating and I do not blame you for being pi$$ed off about it.....
Of course, no matter what you tell them...it will not bring your phone back......I am truly sorry that this is happening to you.....it is a violation of your personal live and the scumbag that stole it deserves to rot in he!! for it......
I hope that they are able to catch this person....because they do have to sign in and out of your gym...that might help....but I can not help but wonder just how much effort will be put into finding your phone.....
Do not allow this to ruin your weekend, my friend....
How did your job interview go?....I would love an update....

To add icing the cake it seems these two 'moronic' poor excuse for humans didn't sign in on this day! We all have our suspicions and these two individuals are obviously lying low as they haven't been back to the gym since! But it's proving it isn't, you can't come out and accuse them, mores the pity! In respect to the job I got it, but it's not as simple as that, I will do a follow up my friend but I will wait until I get the letter first x

You are going through the same thing many other have gone through. My husband did the same thing insured his phone and didn't read the contract until after he lost the phone and was told he had to pay $50 USD. I don't insure my phone, never did - never will. If you loose or break your phone the companies are always running some kind of deal where you can get a phone better than what you had for the same - if not less - than what you got the first one for.

no way i would insure my phone, unless i went out and got a real expensive one lol but no way i could do that unless i got a real high paying job. and soon you buy a new phone in a couple of weeks the price of them has dropped that much, why bother insuring it. just waste of time and money

thats a bit scandolous them asking you to pay £100 when the phone is not worth £100 wolfie. i have not long had my new phone and i am safe so far as i have 1 year guarantee on it which covers everything. i hope you sort everything out as quickly as possible and you get your phone back

Oh wolfie. If I'm not mistaken, the insurance company is charging you close to US$200. I think its better to wait for their explanation comes Monday. There must be some mistake. I haven't come across an insurance like that.
We do have mobile phone insurance called "Cell Protect." But I didn't feel the need to avail one. I'm already a member of 3 insurance companies and am afraid I won't be having enough money to pay for my mobile insurance.

What did you just say? Insure your phone? You mean there is insurance for phone? I have to be honest here. This is the first time I am hearing such a thing! None of my insurance friends here ever asked me about insuring phones.
Perhaps it is not feasible here - those who like to use phones worth insuring - they tend to change them once every few months. :P

oh honey who are you with? let me know in private if you like. I do still insure my phone but all these insurance companies think they are so clever - did you know if there is any type of water damage most of them won't pay out - and yes I do mean on the phone, not my kitchen! lol I don't have that type of excess on my insurance I am glad to say and I managed to beat them when my phone was stolen! Did you know you can also claim on your house insurance - but then the excess usually makes it pointless then too! Sorry honey - will this hug help you calm down any?

It all depends on how much they charge for the insurance. My phone got stolen a while back and all I got charged was a $50 fee to get a new one. The phone was worth roughly 200 so I say it as better than buying a new one, since i'd needed on for work at that time.

Ohh myyy .. that's terrible .. how many phones are worth £100 .. crikey I've never paid more than £10 for a mobile ..in fact my last one was £6.50 from Amazon.co.uk ..
And ... NO .. you've guessed it I have never bothered insuring my phones ..
Sorry to hear you are having yet more grief .. it's about time a 'lucky break' came your way .. it's long over due ..

This is the reason why I don't have the insurance on my phone and besides many people have told me when they replace your phone it is a refurbished one anyway. So I would rather just buy a new one and save the monthly fees for the crappy insurance they offer.

Oh my I'll be angry too! I can't beleive that they wanted you to pay that much and that is absolutly crazy. My hubby has a cell phone but luckily we don't have to pay for it the company does. It sure does sound like a rip off to me too I hope you will give them a good peace of mind. have a good day Wolfie as you need it.

I used to have the insurance until I learned about the money it would cost to replace the phone with the insurance (in the US it is $50). I decided I would rather risk it and pay out of pocket if anything happened. In the end, I saved a bunch of money on insurance AND never did need to replace that phone. I have since upgraded and still have my old phone, so if something happens to the new one, I will be ok. I agree that the insurance is little more than robbery, especially since they do not tell you about the $50 you have to pay on top of what you have already paid.
