i'm sure someone else has discussed this before, and i apologize as i'm not trying to steal or anything, i just need to get organized here!!
BUT how do you organize your photos?
most of mine are digital, so i save them to cdr's and keep them in a cd wallet. the ones that are printed, i have a lil organizer box i keep them in. they are NOT organized, but at least they're in there and safe! lol! but i know lots of people who do scrapbooking, and who maybe at least put most of their photos in photo albums. i just never have the will to do that. but i LOVE looking at past photos. it's so fun to reminisce, and cherish those times, but really should take better care of these pictures.
what are your tactics?

Hi frecklelip, I keep my photos in different folders that I date and name. I don't use cd's any more to save my pictures, I now use a flash drive, they are very inexpensive, can't get scratched like cd's can and you can add and erase photos when ever you want. A 4 GB flash drive holds about 9600 pictures. You can store photos, videos and/or music. It is 2 inches in length. Check it out... http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Catalog(1225)-SanDisk_Cruzer_Contour_USB_Flash_Drive.aspx

It is very simple to use, you plug it into to your computer and it's own window opens and it explains how to add and remove picutres, videos and/or music. My brother bought a 1GB flash drive and he needed to get a few more because he has so many pictures, this is why I prefer the 4GB so I have them all on one flash drive unit. Thanks for the BR!

Goodby cd's, I love my flash drive. I can add and erase new pictures within seconds and it is so small and portable. What I do is I have one flash drive for my pictures (I have lots of pics) and another for all my computer files. In the event something happens to my computer and if I have to ever do a system recovery or replace a file accidentally deleted, I have a back up file on my little flash drive so I don't loose anything.

oh howard, WONDERFUL. thank you so much for this idea. i may have to put this on my christmas wish list. so it's pretty simple to use? it's just the only pics i have taken of my son are with digital cameras. and it's hard enough to organize actual prints, and almsot harder to organize the discs...and i have so many, gonna have to buy another wallet to keep them in, and like you said they get scratched, and then it'd be ruined...wonderful idea, thank you SO much for sharing!!!

I also have posted a topic similar to these.. Old photos from old cameras where you have to buy the film and have it printed asap are kept in photo albums.. But now in our modern world where our pictures are digital I keep them in online photo albums like multiply and ringo.. I also saved the pictures in my pc which is in the "my pictures" folder. Scanned pics are also in my pc. Recently I saved my photos in my usb.. My usb has a high memory but I wonder why some of my files are lost.. But thanks to online photo albums I still ahve a copy of them.

I like online photo albums.. Anyway, if you have private photos then you can set it as private and those photos that you want to share you can leave it open for everyone to see. Yeah good thing!

well it really depends on you. Search your soul.
If you are one of the creative types scrapbooking would be for you.
If you're one of those digital guys stick with the CDs and computer
I like the memories but am not really that uch of a sentimental type. So i just arrange them chronologically in thoe paper albums where you can write comments on the side. Of course I write one or two comments on the side. :)

you're right. everyone has a different way of doing things. it depends on the type of person you are. i am very sentimental, BUT IMPATIENT...so i do need to find a way that's simple enough, yet will help! thanks for your thoughts. means a lot!!

it's a huge project for anyone. it takes a lot of time, and then if i don't mark when a certain event happened, say then with a simple picture of my son, i have to think, "when was THIS taken?" and it's hard to remember dates and such it you don't write it down. fortunately my camera now has a date option on it, so the date shows...but older prints i have to think more about the place and time!! it's quite a chore! yet so fun to look at the past sometimes.

I placed my picture in my photo albums. It's more oraganized because you wont't have a hard time to find what you are looking for in the future and it's easiy to do.

I keep mine in organizer boxes as well. They are not really organized other than the boxes have the years on them. One box is for 2005, one for 2006 and so on. I always make sure to write on the backs of new pics also, that helps to organize them later on. I am a scrapbooker, so my pics are never in the boxes for too awful long, other than the double prints and I always keep the negatives as well, in case I want more copies later....Good luck!

OH! that's what i was saying to someone else....
GOOD FOR YOU TIFF FOR WRITING ON THE BACKS OF THE PRINTS. it is so easy to forget years and ages and such if you don't write it down. that's my problem...i don't and then i can't remember anything, then don't feel like organizing. not good on my part!! :-) thanks for responding!

Most of ours are stored on our computer and a few on cds. The ones we have printed are all in albums only because they are kept safe that way. I was thinking of investing in a few photo boxes and have them displayed in our home - you can get some really nice ones out there.
