There are more and more people looking for jobs every year, but they have different views about what kind of job they should choose. Some of them focaus their attentions on the jobs that promise high salaries.others show a preference for those that offer a chance to learn skills and advancement possibities.
People holding the first view usually think that more money will result in more happiness.with a lot of money in hand, they will be able to enjoy a rich life,Otherwise, they will suffer from depression due to lack of enough money.
However, holders of the second view argue that one should develop his skills as much as possible. It is careerdevelopment that counts most.Without development, you will be outrun by others and fall behind the times sooner or later.
What is your opinion?

I agree. We should look for a job that will provide development in our career path.
How can a company give you HIGH SALARY you want if you're knowledge is limited(focusing on one specialization)? HIGH SALARY was given to the people with flexible knowledge(with lots of specialization).

I choose both, because we as employees need high salaries to enable us to sustain our needs. As well as career development because I believe that everyone wants to develop their skills as professional right. Thats why I choose both. Just my opinion

You must forget about high salaries and concentrate only on career development. But this is for YOU and not someone else. You are only 21 and the foundation you lay on your life will mould your future. My salary at that age was only one dollar a month. But thanks to the training I got I am well established as an accountant now.
But money is needed to bring happiness. Your goal for the future will be earn from the training that you get now.

I was recently laid off from a job of 14 years. I think now I want to find a job that I can do a lot more learning and not worry about the money all the time. I would like to find a job that I actually like to go to everyday. I was very unhappy with my job and I feel that filters through to your personal life. So I want a job that I actually like to do.

I will develop my career with a high salary, as you know eveybody's living cost is getting higher and higher, so it is needed to enrich myself and embark on a high flyer job. Technology changes very fast, before you knew it, new technologies come up so it is very hard to chase after it, therefore, let nature takes its course, if there is an interest in the new technology, study it and put into practise.

I will go with the carrer development. Beacause if once the career develops, high salaries come in automatically.
If one runs for the high salaries and does not develop his carerr he will out of high salaried job sooner or later. But the one develops the career will have high salaried job sooner or later and will not out runned by others.
So i believe one should choose career development rather than the high salaried job.

I think the way we see it would matter a lot on what our goal is in looking for a job.. Of course, if we are breadwinners then it would really side on the high salary but if we're just starting to have a n experience then career development would be much better because it would focus ourselves on the profession we choose..
I just started work a month ago, it's not the regular type of work since I'm just an apprentice.. But we do get paid with our allowances every month which is a pretty good thing, so on my side I'm more on the career development and by the way the allowance we get is really lower than the minimum salary.. I have to do this so that I can complete one of my requirements for taking the board exam, however in time that I would have a family I would really concentrate on earning as much as I can to give them a better living..
I do hope that the experience I will have with my current work would really help me throughout the practice of my profession someday.. I know it really matters, since I really wanted to become an architect.. =) And based from a friend who work with different jobs, she said that when we start on our jobs, we must focus more on having great experience and must socialize with people in other to have connections.. In time, those will be the based point of your true profession and thus would give you a chance of earning big since you already know what to do meaning you're an expert and you have people around that could help you..

very good question??. its question that i ask myself daily. still not able to decide whether to go for career or money. Till now thats for last 10yrs of professional life, i have been going for money. For last 6 months i have been analysing my decision and was leaning more towards career. But over last one month need for more money is pushing me back to moeny I suppose its very personal decision, in my view career may give you long term satisfaction while high salary would give you short term happiness. Ofcourse there are lots who has both.

You can say that I am very practical, but I like to have a high salary. As I work hard for money and this is why I'm working there everyday.

Oh how I wish it could be both:( However the realities of life make you prioritize the first over the second option. and this is sad. If you plan on being alone with no family you can concentrate on having a nice job where you would be happy and neglect money.

everybody actually would want to have career development, but people now a days need to cope up with the changing world, need to earn more for a living. lucky for the few workers that are given with high salaries with benefit of career development because some companies provides trainings, seminars, scholarships.

I agree with that because if you don't have an experiences in a certain job, you don't really make enough money at all.

I think money and satisfaction of work is more important for the job. You are spending 8 hours in the office and there is no peace of work then one can not give its full efforts to the company.
Money is also important because if one is giving 100% efforts and he/she is not getting enough to survive then how will you think of 5 yrs plans.

i prefer high salary because i will be able to save more money enough to fund my forex investments and evetually quit my job to pursue forex trading which is more lucrative than being just an employee of a person that pursues a career which is totally sucks and boring.

High salary of course, "but" as a beginner career development is also good, as a beginner you should start from the bottom before you reach the top, what i mean is once you develop your career more opportunities be on your part and this opportunity will be your way to receive a high salary.

Of course the best would be a high-paying job that gives you good career devt opportunities.
unless you are talking about career devt in the sense of extensive training courses sponsored during the job, and thence the job pays less than normal.
it's important to be in job that you feel passionately about, and like the content. otherwise whether it pays well, or whether it offers very good career devt opps, if you dread going to work daily because the core nature of the job does not appeal to you, or resonate with you, it will be terrible.
sometimes fulfilment does not need to come from money.
