Did you rescue your cat from the wild?

Our cat, Big Man came to us when he was a kitten. He had been abandoned in front of a neighborhood store and was literally starving to death. We took him in and he's turned into a very decent pet and friend. Before we got him, he'd been living on scraps and in the nearby woods and had almost turned feral. Once we had him fixed by the vet, he stopped spraying the house and acting up. It helped with his behavior problems too. Initially, it was a struggle, to help him adapt to home life, but it's been worth it. Have you rescued a stray cat, or adopted one from the local shelter? Do you think they make better pets than the more expensive variety from breeders? Or, are they harder to manage?

I have 25 cats, all rescues of some sort or another. Only a few actually in from the wild. 3 are still semi-feral, but they don't have to interact with us if they don't want to. But they are inside, safe, fed & we can catch them & run them to the vet when we must.

I have two cats that were strays. Both of them showed up at my husband's job. The most recent one is a kitten we took in last week who was found in the engine compartment of a car.

My daughter found a 4 week old kitten waddling along a busy highway. She stopped and picked the little fur ball up and brought her to us. I cleaned her fur and gave her lots of food and love. She is a treasure.

I've had 4 cats in my life...two that are with me currently. The first one (spirit) followed my sister and I home when I was little on Halloween...and we "accidentally" fed it (don't tell my dad). The second one, (Stray) was tossed out of a car window into our front yard when I was a teenager and we "accidentally" fed her. The third (Lyle) I ended up with when he was living with my x-wife's mother. I picked him up with my then wife and had to take him in for oral surgery that night as he was growling at his food because his teeth were so infected. I still have him today. My fourth one (Tommy) I got from the pound as a baby. I wasn't going to get another cat, but I held him as a kitten and he started cleaning my eyebrows. I think they make great pets or owners...I'm not quite sure which of us is the pet yet.

Hello, I love cats very much. I used to have many cats when I was a kid. I rescued my cats from the dogs many number of times. I feel so bad and hurt for them when are are troubled by a dog. Once I saw a cat being killed by a group of dogs. I tried to save the cat by throwing stones at the dogs. But, it was so painful to watch and I could not help the cat. After all my cats were killed either by dogs or by other accidents. I was not able to give my cats the protection needed. So, I do not have the right to keep them as pet. But, those who can afford to keep them safe from all evils, I wish them all the best to do such good things in life. We shoulld protect our pet whatever be it. I wish all kittens and cats be safe.

I have 25 cats, most of which were strays. I also have a himalayan. Yes, I think the strays make better, more loveable pets, as they seem more thankful to have a happy home. My himalayan only wants to be bothered when she wants to be bothered, and the ones that came to me as strays, are happy to have me pick them up any time that I want to. I love all m pets, and am thankful that I have been able to help so many. I only wish that people would stop getting pets and then dumping them off.

2 of mine came from a shelter when I lived in florida. After I moved to Egypt and into my new apartment a cat kept meowing at my door so I would let her in & give her food & water. Soon I found out she belonged to the building's owner who lived across the hall. I didn't see her again for a few months and one day I heard kittens crying in the hallway. I opened the door and found them sitting in front of the owner's door. I knocked & told him they were out here & he said 'yeah' and closed the door. So I had my Husband look at them that night, they were just 4 weeks old, and he chose a blk/wht one. He's Egyptian and had never touched a cat before. Cats just live in the streets there. He loves him crazy along with the 2 I had brought with me.
