I've worked in the computer industry and have seen LOTS of funny things happen.
One of the funniest things I've happen is when I worked at a computer firm doing in-house technical support.
I got a call one day about a keyboard that quick working. By the time I got around to going to the guys desk, he was away at lunch.
On the keyboard was brown stained keyboard that he had obviously spilled coffe on.
There was a little yellow post-it note that read: "Failed the Immersion Test."
I about fell out laughing.
What is one of the funniest things that you've seen at work?

The funniest thing I've seen on a job was during my last job. The facility had a lot of woods and a field behind it, so on occasion a mouse would visit us in the office. So one day I saw a mouse run by my foot and I was too grossed out to scream, I just pointed at it. A co-worker saw it, got up on her desk to get away with it, stood up...and then promptly fainted. Let me tell you, a person dropping from a desk to the floor creates a loud bang. And it didn't even revive her!

i am a pharmacist and my first job was as a hospital pharmacist. i worked there for almost 2 years.
there are lots of funny moments there. we work on shifts and most of the time, we attend to shifts which we thought was ours. or we go to work thinking it was work day for us when actually, we are scheduled to have our day offs that time.
well, not actually funny when reading this one. but my co-pharmacists and i really had big laughs about this... anne

I have to agree with you Filmbuff when it comes to people and computers. Just this week, one of my customers called me and was describing how his computer was acting. What was happening was nothing at all, when he turned it on nothing would come on. I told him over the telaphone that is sounded like a power supply issue and told him to check that first. He said no he had it plugged into a power strip and he was certain that it was working. I told him I meant the power supply to his computer, he said oh okay I will check it.
He came into the shop with his tower about an hour later, and told me he had tried plugging it into another wall outlet and it still would not come on. I had the hardest time not laughing at that point. I benched it and took the side panel off and showed him where the power supply was. He started laughing then, and I laughed with him. Sure enough the power supply tested bad, I put him in a new one and he left happy.
One other time A lady called with problems and it was nothing I could talk her through over the phone, so I told her she would have to bring in her computer for me to look at. She brought me in the monitor not the tower. She thought the monitor was what caused the box to work.
I always find it amazing that people can use computers and really do not have the basic knowledge of how they work.

Computers are "magic" to a lot of people. While it is funny I try not to laugh at them too much unless they really deserve it. Like the story I am about to tell:
Many years ago while working for a major national ISP who shall remain namless doing tech support, a man called in frantically telling me that he couldn't connect the internet.
When I asked to describe what was happening, he told me thas his computer "was smokeing and that it had just burst into flames." I told him to hang up and call 911, then added, 'You don't call a Priest when you need an undertaker."
I laughed for about a 10 minutes while letting everyone in the office know what just happened. We need some cholrine in the gene pool.

Well I used to work in a design studio, it was a home office and so our boss had her two chow dogs there.
They are quite adorable but they have this weird mood swings.
They sometimes hump the sofa, which is quite disturbing at times but we've learned to get use to in time.
The sofa was full of fur that is why throughout my stay there nobody dared to sit there, except for our boss' ex boyfriend who I think wasn't aware of how dirty that sofa was, he always sat there when he went over there.
There was also this time that the dogs was growling and we didn't know what she wanted, and she was like in a attack mode so my friend and I was like panicked, cause that dog has a history of biting people. And so, we were like lunatics there trying to escape from the dog, we even hid in the other office and shut the door while the dog was on the other side still growling and barking.
When the secretary came back from an errand we just found out the dog just wants to go out and pee.. ahahah!!!

Hahah.. Well my friend told me about the dog's behavior when I was new to the office, and later on I witnessed it myslef we just can't stop laughing. Though I agree that having the dogs there can quite be disrupting at times.

That is too funny (if not a little gross) about the dog and the couch, and the guy sitting there.
The poor dog just wanted to go outside. I do think though that working in an environment with a dog that is known for biting and displaying such amorous behavior with the furnature would not be an ideal workplace.
Thanks for sharing smints8985.

This happened quite a number of years ago, filmbuff. Our well liked assistant manager was leaving for a new position. We were planning the customary farewell party, and were each asked to contribute toward a gift for him. Many of us, had no idea what type of gift would be given. On the day of the party, there was a 'gigantic' cardboard box in the staff room. As he untied the huge bow, and proceeded to open the box, we all noticed something moving inside. Before anyone could react, out popped one of our female co-workers, dressed in a bunny costume. Before you get a 'different idea,' let me explain that the costume was a traditional one, complete with a full length furry body, a powder puff tail, and of course, bunny ears. He was so shocked (as were many of us), that I think he almost had a heart attack. To this day, I can't remember what the 'real' gift he received was. This turned out to be 'one of the funniest' places I've ever worked.:)

One day I was working very important work on my computer for Board . Suddenly I got an email from one of the branch manager that he has left, we all are shocked that he has resigned and he has written so much of bad things about the company and send it to all the mail users. Next day we came to know that he has not resigned fromthe job and HR has taken a step against him and passed one message to all of them that nobody will pass the massage that he/she is resigning from the job. That person was the sardar and everybody told that sardar has really proved that without doing any funny thing sardar can not prove that he is a sardar.

I've seen several fake emails go out that were pretty funny. The best ones are the private emails, or ones that contain sensitive information that go out to everyone by mistake.
Sumran76, can you explain what a "sardar" is? I'm not familar with that term.

I didn't actually see this happen but I typed the report that was dictated about the incident. I am a medical transcriptionist and I type reports on patients who receive physical therapy, inpatients and outpatients. This happened about three years ago. I was sitting at my desk typing this report and the therapist who dictated it had a hard time because he was chuckling himself. The report was about a patient who owned a billy goat. She went outside to do something and had to be close the billy goat. While she was there she leaned over to pick up something off the ground. When she did the billy goat ran and butted her right in the head! The poor lady had to go to the hospital with a concussion and had to stay overnight! She went for physical therapy after being discharged from the hospital. I was laughing so hard I couldn't hardly type the report. I know it hurt but just the thought of that billy goat running into her couldn't help but tickle my funny bone LOL I told my husband and kids the story and we all got a big laugh out of it. :)

Hello, filmbuff!
Actually there are quite a few, I'll share some.
In my job, my second boss was a funny person, not actually himself but he used to do many things which made us laugh. On my first day as his subordinate I was told by seniors that he is an idiot. I asked them why would they say that as he looks quite a sensible person. They were insistent and they started repeating it like your 'minnie' thing. like he is an idiot, he is an idiot, he is an idiot...every one seemed saying that. Later that day he came to our hall. He was furious over someone and at one point in his tirade he said, "Am I an idiot" and guess what? the whole hall broke into laughter. He was perplexed and again said, what!!! do I look like an idiot...second burst of laughter...he couldn't stand it and left the hall shaking his head and we kept on laughing for a long time so much so that it was difficult for me to breath.
Another time, there was a quite older engineer who has learnt drafting on paper and never used computer for it. AMD (Auto Mechanical Desktop) is a drafting software. When he first looked at it, he started praising the software and told others that it's a wonderful tool in which if one types circle, it makes a circle, if one types a rectangle it makes it...oh my...we all burst into laughter as it was just a simple drafting tool and he was praising it like it did miracles.LOL, We had a good time laughing at his innocent (or should i say a bit ignorant) gesture.
There are many many stories that gave us good laugh at work. I really miss them now. here too we have stories of professors doing some very silly things but I think what's already been stated is more than enough for this post... more to follow sometime later:-)

the funniest thing i've done before in my work was when i was tempt to sing a song on the appliance area which was really restricted to us employee on duty. i really feel i was on stage performing for i saw many people looking at me as i never seen before in that area. Not mentioning it was restricted to do so, so i noticed that my co employee was giving me a sign that i have to stop because our manager was at my back..hehehe...sounds strange but i still remain in my work....
