Has anyone read any of Joel Osteen's books? I am not the type of person to go to church every day, but he seems really inspirational to me. I was thinking of using one of my Amazon gift certificates to purchase his book. I am into reading the positive thinking type books and was wondering if this one would qualify, or if it is only religious.

I have Read Joel's first book "Your Best Life Now". I am not a formal church goer but I frequently watch his services on tv. We live in Houston and have watched him from the begining. He always has a positive message and his new book as well as his firt are very uplifting and encouraging. He has a huge following. If you want to feel better, buy his books and watch him on tv if you can.

Thanks for your comment. I try to watch him on Sunday mornings. When I get some more free Amazon.com gift certificates, I am thinking of buying his first book. The price should be down by now.

Like Jill, I also read "Your Best Life Now" (twice). What I really appreciated was the spiritual, yet non-denominational approach to overcoming life's roadblocks. Not "churchy". No fire and brimstone here!!! Just basic common sense and positive cheerleading.

Yeah, he's really very positive. Unfortunately, it seems his programs haven't been on here locally in some time. Maybe I should look at OnDemand and see if he has anything on there.

Yes, and his books are quite positive like his sermons if you will. Very inspirational and positive as well. Kind of remind of Norman Vincent Peale. So you would be making a good investment. However, if you wish, go to the library and get a copy if you wish and read it before buying if you will. The best to you.

Thanks for responding. It's good to hear that a couple of people have read the books, and they are worth while. Needless to say, I'm not surprised. Have a great day.
