Where would you rather live...the Big City or the Countryside.

Hi everyone, Here is the age old urban-rural question. Would you rather live in the big city and all the hustle and bustle and excitement. Or would you prefer the calm and pretty countryside? Why? I prefer the countryside. I like my space and privacy and it is just a more natural fit for me. cheers,

I would rather live in the countryside. I live in the country area of ny. BUT I chose to buy my home in the smack dab of our tiny little town. With neighbors all around me. I like our house, dont get me wrong, but now I am finding that I dont like neighbors and I dont like the small yard. I really wanted a big yard and I didnt think I would mind the neighbors. I never lived in town, I grew up on 75 acres of land and woods...and played all day long outside. Hubby grew up in town so he didnt mind it. As I became a teen, I loved hanging in town, with my friends, so I dodnt think I would mind it....BUT now...I wish I wouldnt have! LOL

You seem to be in the same boat as me. I never wanted to end up in the city, but that is where I have ended up. The rest of my family would never want to move so I am stuck. :( cheers,

Can I live near here please? - Beside the lake,
Beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
We live on the outskirts of the city so are well situated for the conveniences of the city but near the open spaces of the countryside. I would like our house to be a bit more isolated though. I feel I am always being overlooked when in my garden. It does have its peaceful times but weekends when everybody is home is very noisy. I hope when we retire we can have a quieter house. When I have made my fortune on the internet ....

Yes, I guess when we are busy in the hustle and bustle of work, it is best to have a little taste of both. However, I am the same, when I get older I want the countryside life. cheers,

My Home - This is a photo of my home...set in the countryside with lots of trees and fresh air...in rural Arkansas...
I love living in rural Arkansas in the USA...it is gorgeous here.....this is a small laid back community with lots of fresh water...lakes and rivers...always something to do if you want to...the climate is nice and never gets really cold.... We have a small farm (15 acres) and enjoy the freedom away from prying eyes of nosey neighbors...the kids can run, scream, and play without fear of a stranger seeing or endangering them......I have my garden and animals... For me, this is the perfect life....,my friend...

I would love to live out in the country where I didn't have to worry about neighbors and noise. It would be perfect if I could just find a work at home job!

I could never survive living out in the country! I went to college in a small American town in Missouri. I hated it so much I left after the first year. Although I don't live in the heart of downtown Seattle, I live about a 10 minute drive from it. I wish I could live in a loft above one of the stores though. Just being able to walk downstairs, grab a cup of coffee and either ride a bike or catch a bus to work would be great! Living in a big city with small children isn't that feasible though...or safe.

i've lived in the country all my life. the city where i live right now is not that big..when i think big city i usually think new york, paris, etc...so i would definitely want to try living in cities as big as that.

At present I would like to live in the big city. Because everything will be convenient and I don't have to spend long time on the way to work. When I am retired or rich, I will consider to live in the countryside. Because I like the nature and I like to get close to it. I also like to have a garden and swimming pool, so it's likely to be available in the countryside house.

I prefer the country. I work in a fairly large city but I commute about 20 miles each day so that I can live in the country. It has really cost in gas recently, and I have had to make some adjustments to be able to afford gas. I am willing to do that, however, so that I can remain in a rural area. I love the peace and quiet and all the wildlife.

Im a true blue city dweller! But im fond of visiting cold rural places for a day or two to freshen up. I like the city better because of im fond of going to malls and dining out. Sometimes when i want to feel nature and i don't have time to travel i just go to our front lawn, it has a touch of nature lots of trees and flowers giving a peace of mind and relaxation. I never see myself settling in rural places.=)

For me its definitely the City. Why? Because I love the hustle and bustle of the city. Too quiet scares me. Also, I love shopping. ALthough, I know that living in a city brings along its troubles and stress and danger too. I love cities such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, New York, etc. It just makes me happy.

In a sense, I would prefer the countryside for much the same reasons as you. I own a holiday home in a small tourist town on an Island, & we are thinking of retiring there. On the other hand, living in a ccity provides more opportunities for my daughter's education & swimming. Adelaide is not too big, about 1mil people.

Hello, golfproo,i will prefer to live in the big city like sydney.I think it will be more convinient to live in the urban area, there wil be easy access to public facility,i can go to the supermarket whenever i want without driving,i can go to the shopping malls to have shopping. It will be a trouble if you are living in the countryside, you always need to drive for some time before you can find something you need.

I have lived in the city all my life, but would love to live in the country. I am tired of city life and I would like to have some farm animals some day; horses, goats, ducks, chickens...

I prefer to living in the countryside.I grown up in a country and but now I am working in a city.I like the frsh air and peaceful life of ountryside, but I am thirsty of getting a good job in a city. There are more opportunities to get a good job and good schooles to promote yourself.Although I like the country life,I will stay in a city.Maybe when I retired,I will go back to the small village where I was born to enjoy the country life.
