Overall I think it is awesome! We have come across a couple of shady people but it really has saved us a lot of money. Tell me about your good and bad experiences on Ebay :)

I love ebay. at first I wasn't sure I would ever shop on it but after geting a dell for $324. and 2 surge protecters for $11. I want to shop their again and eventually I want to open a store after I get my home business going. I've seen things there I have never seen in stores and cheap. Wow. I hope to shop there soon. Also people don't forget half.com there a branch company off of ebay. They sell stuff cheap and their buy now not bidding. I love shoping there. I don't buy very many movies here in my town I buy them there for less than $10 usually.

I had one nasty experience, where I checked the price of postage and found I'd been charged an extra $3.00. It was a pr of shorts and not even packaged well, just shoved in a jiffy bag. I gave neither a positive nor negative rating and commented on the postage and packaging. The seller went ballistic and warned everyone against me and rated me negative. Another time I bid and won on a dvd player. I emailed before I bid and asked if they'd taken it to a repairer and they said that they hadn't because they had an opportunity to get a new one....I took it to be repaired and it was unfixable. I think they lied to me.I haven't bought anything since.

Honestly, I don't feel like I have ever saved money on there, paid about as much if I had bought it at a store after shipping. I stopped using online auctions about a year or so ago. To me they just aren't worth it. :0(

I am a seller. I started out making pretty good income. I sold a juicemaker for $174 and started my bid at only $2.99. But I have found that some items you have to sell at a BIN (Buy It Now) price such as shoes and clothes. Items such as china and porcelain dolls you can auction and get a good final bid. Do you have any suggestions to help me do better in my store. Thanks.

EBay is awesome as you say. There are some glitches at times, but I think it is a great way to shop. The prices that I have seen on both old and new items is extremely fair, the auctions are fun and the ebay management does a great job keeping us informed of changes in policies and procedures. I have been lucky that I have not been struck by bad buyers. I enjoy selling items on ebay as well as purchasing when there is something to buy. What I do not like are other auction sites trying to do what ebay does and claim they are better when you find out that no other site can touch ebay.

I've had mostly good experiences with eBay. But, I've come across a few bad sellers. I have been swindled out of some money. But, most of the people who sell stuff on there are just trying to make a buck and are honest. The ones who are not are the ones who will ship things like computers in thin boxes so they are damaged when you receive them. I've learned that if you send something back, alway get delivery confirmation. Always. Even if you get it insured, still get delivery confirmation. It's worth it. I sent a laptop back and the seller said they didn't get it. So, I didn't have the laptop and they wouldn't give me a refund. I got insurance and the post office could track it on their internal tracking, but PayPal wouldn't accept this as an actual tracking number. So, I know the person got the laptop and lied about it. But, I have gotten lots of stuff on eBay and that is the one really bad experience I've had.

well, ive only been on ebay 3 days but i can see how addictive it can become. The bad side to me is losing out to last second bidders, the upside to me is getting five first world war brass bullets for 4 quid blessed be

It is one of a very few web sites to make it big. When the internet begin to have recognition by the public at large there were many web sites with great hopes of success. Most have gone the way of the dodo bird. But not EBay. It has thrived because of the concept. It provided everyone a chance to have in effect their own site to sell their products with very little cost. It was a hit from the beginning and never looked back. Very well run company.

I'm fairly new to eBay, I'd only purchased once from there in the past. But now that I want to sell my phone, I want to get my rating a little higher so I bid on about 6 items and won three and paid right away! Lol. I find it a bit complicated to sell.. but maybe I just have to get used to it. But so far so good, we'll see how it goes! =)
