my daughter is 22 mos. old, and has been suffering from constipation since she was born, so i had her on regular formula, informed her dr. and was told to try soy, or several different ones. so i tried soy and some others but none worked until we got lactose free, worked like a charm. now she's off the bottle, drinking regular milk and the dr. said maybe she's short on fiber in her diet, i bought benefiber put it in her drink and nothing's working. i bought a laxative for baby's and i give it to her when it's really bad and suppositories but no baby deserves wut she's going through, dr.'s keep giving me the run around and it's ridiculous, anyone suffer from the same problems or know anyone, or have ideas! thx!

The Kairo Syrup idea does work. My little boy had such bad constipation I used to cry FOR HIM. We tried everything!! But the Syrup idea works amazingly well. Our doctor actually recommended it.
It was hilarious, you have to see his face to truly understand how funny it was, but I believe his exact words were something like. "Yup, anything to make those buggers slip right out!!!"
It was hilarious!

It was funny!
My husband was with me and he didn't even laugh so I figured he wasn't paying attention.
Then when walked out of the office my husband said "He didn't really just say that did he?"
I thought I was going to pass out.... it was funny!

hey that is bad! but i really wonder what's keeping or making your daughter constipate. i see that this discussion was posted 7 months ago, so by now, your baby is almost 8 months old. i hope she is better though. any findings that led you to correct the situation? wish you all the best! God bless you and your family!

actually it was 7 mos. ago, but she's 2 now, so she was one 7 mos. ago. but she's better, i don't know what did it, but her problems just went away, for a while she wasn't pooping herself, she was holding it in, my thoughts were because it hurt when she was constipated she was scared to poop. but thankfully she is all better now.

Is she getting enough fruits and vegetables? You could also add some water to her diet. It is important in the hot summer. Fruit juice is another good option, but go easy on this. A cup a day should be fine though.

no, i actually figured out that she's holding her poop in therefore creating a back up then it gets hard and she gets constipated, so we just started giving her karo syrup to help loosen her up so she can't hold it in as much! thx for asking! ♥

My sister was constipated too, the doctors found out that she has an abnormal large intestine. I don't know the normal length of the large intestine but the problem with hers is that it's longer by a few inches. Have you tried to ask for second opinion from another doctor? It might be helpful advice from another doctor, because a doctor doesn't know everything. I hope your baby get's better soon.

this only means that there is a need for more fiber in the child's diet. the best thing for you to do will be to ask the doctor about prune juice, apple juice and grape juice. i have heard that prune juice is the best food supplement to give your child which can greatly help you ease out with this problem involving your young child as regards constipation. you must have no qualms about using any of these fruit juices as these are all natural food products. next time you visit the supermarket or the grocery store, secure for yourself a bottle of prune juice and try it with your daughter. you can have some for yourself if you also find the need for it. it is best that you try it on yourself, too.

I know exactly what you are going through. I have 2 daughters that had that problem when they were younger. I can tell you when little I gave them baby prunes one week then the next week baby apricots. When I say baby I am talking about the one's that gerber puts in the baby food jars. It kept them regular. Now the doctors will tell you that they don't get sick from constipation but they can. My daughters would even run a temp when they were constipated and the tummy pain is real. I had one that would get really sick and throw up when she was constipated. You will also have to watch medications because they can cause it too. My one daughter was on ADHD meds and she got so impacted that the doctor gave me this drink and said don't leave home after she takes it. Well she had 2 of those drinks and nothing. We ended up having to use a suppository which is not fun. Once I took her off the meds she was fine. You will just always have to be aware of it and watch how things effect it. Try the baby food and hopefully that will work for you now. It may take a week or two to get her regular. Good luck!!

She could be lactose intolerant. My own daughter was lactose and fructose intolerant when she was the same age. She drank soy milk and only ate certain kinds of fruit like bananas and apples. The doctor said she would outgrow it and sure enough she did. Being lactose intolerant myself, I drink Lactaid which is a lactose free milk which can be found in any grocery store. There are also lactaid drops which can be added to milk if you can't find the milk, but it should be available. Also raw carrots and apples have enough fiber for her to help keep her regular so if you can add them to her diet daily this may also help.

Hey there, When my son was a baby he had constipation, at times it was really bad and my mom got me to give him boiled prune juice watered down with cool boiled water and that worked wonders, then we put him on straight cows milk, because he couldnt take to regular babies milk, he never got these problems again. Today hes a healthy fit 13 year old...

I also have my share of that. My first child (and still the only daughter and child I have to date) who is turning 2 years old this August is also having constipation problems. Although we have tried many remedies, too, including plenty of fluids (water, juices). We even decreased the amount of infant milk (which we dilute to same amount of mineral water) we give her, I guess I still need to try some other remedies. We're practising to give her foods which are soft for her tummy. I hope it works.

Give her Griph Water,it is sweet whenever she has a pain, then give her plenty of water to drink. She should be bathed everyday and evening a body wash.

O-kay well this might sound a little country but has always worked, It was my Grandmothers remedy for all the children and it worked believe it or not, I had to use it on my own child a time or two. Just pour a little bit of cairo syrup in each cup of milk she drinks, not too much just a tables spoon maybe a little more, But somethign about it works everytime. Plus it has a wonderfull taste. Good luck!
