No I could not give up my microwave. I do not cook so whatever I make I make in the microwave. Either that or frozen pizza in the oven. My mother always worked two jobs and never had time to teach me to cook and now I have no desire.

I think you hit the nail on the head...those of us who had moms who cooked all the time while we grew up will probably cook more so than those who had a mom who didn''t cook. I have a lot more interest in cooking since I am not working currently. I enjoy it as long as I have someone to cook for.

I guess I could live without the microwave if I absolutely had to, but I definitely wouldn't want to! lol I love the convenience of it, and I use it all the time! I guess I could manage without it if I had no other choice, but it would probably drive me nuts. lol

I don't even own a microwave and we survive pretty well. We don't have the space or the need for it. All I really need is my oven.

I gave up my microwave 11 years ago now. I do not miss it at all. Food cooked in the traditional way is not only healthier but also maintains its temperature longer. microwaved food gets cold so quick.
Now the toaster oven is something I use several times in a day!

I agree that microwave food gets cold quickly. Why is that I wonder?

I know what you mean, even I can't do without the microwave. I use to cook quite a few things apart from heating food. My day starts with warming my baby's milk in the microwave. I find cooking in the microwave so convenient that so many dishes that have to be cooked on the stove, I try and find ways to cook them in the microwave. The fact that microwave saves on energy and oil is also a big plus.

I could give up my microwave no problem. I have threatened to many times, it eats up counter space. It's pretty rare that it's used for anything but thawing foods when I forgot to plan ahead. Unless you are eating lots of ready-to- eat foods, I can't see where a microwave is very useful at all.
Now my toaster oven & crockpot on the other hand, I could not & would not give up for anything.
