Wow, now that's a loaded question! Please tell us how you REALLY feel about chatting. As with all things, chatting does need to be done in moderation. Folks who obsessively do so, do need some other hobbies. But in any case, what I have gotten out of it in the past, is human connections, even if only briefly, to people outside my normal social circle. Sometimes way outside my normal "real world" culture. Its one of the things I really like about the 'discussions' here as well. I've discussed working conditions with a woman in China, gender isssues and relationship things with folks in the Phillipines, etc. Things I would not normally be able to do sitting here in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Hell, Im putting up a post here about an opinion posted by you in Pakistan. Like I'm able to fly out and discuss this with you right now. Sorry not finacially a good move, especially as I plan for my wedding. Ah yes, my wedding, which brings me to the one life changing piece of chatting. I met my fiance' online. I was in California, she was in the District of Columbia and we chatted about many many different topics---then moved to talking on the phone, to visiting each other, to living in the same city, to moving in together, then this October 6th we will marry. So chatting can have some great implications if you: 1) Have an open mind. (Ok, sounds like you aren't ready for that one, but I'll keep going anyways.) 2) Be willing to sift through the people you DON'T want to talk to. 3) Like to be friendly and social and just generally speak of small talk as easily as deep issues.

i don't see chatting will do you any good, except the one who want to make new friends, as far as i see, most people who do chatting are usally the ones who need some time to relax or lonly souls, so in my opinion, chatting is pure waste of time. so you don't have to spend much time on chatting and do somthing useful. many people just take the internet as a virtual network and don't take it seriously, so if you too endulge your time on chatting, it makes no use but the pure waste of time and energy, do you agree? lol
