Should they be restricted to join the armed forces/military?
No-one now can realisticaly doubt the ability of a gay man or woman to be as hard-working, co-ordinated, intelligent or patriotic as one of their heterosexual counterparts. please comment.

much of the argument against the admission of gays is based on the problems caused by homophobia amongst heterosexuals. This homophobia is maintained and encouraged by continued segregation. allowing straight soldiers to see how effective gay soldiers can be will reduce the prejudice.

Now, I have no doubt that a gay or lesbian could make it in the military, however; I don't think that they should be allowed in. Why you ask? At many many times in my military career you are taking showers with each other in the open. Sometimes you are sleeping in very very close quarters. Personally I don't want to take a shower next to someone that might hit on me or stare at me. That is really the only reason I don't think that they should be allowed.

I think there is nothing to discuss really. It's really absurd. A lesbian or gay person is identical to a heterosexual, both mentally and physically, so there is no reason for the army to reject them, except for those old time prejudices that still remain in many armies of the world, including the usa one.
