My cat was missing!

My cat was missing! And, i was freaking out. My little girl had picked her up and put her in the bathroom. Or, at least that's what I think she did with her. Then she went back later and opened the bathroom door and announced, "She's gone!". I searched the entire bathroom, several closets, the spare room and more. But no cat. And, I was worried, because there's a small hole in the wall that she could have gotten into. But, I didn't see her in the hole. And, I didn't hear her crying either. But, I had heard stories of kittens falling down into the wall in buildings. But, since she wasn't talking, there was no way I could tell where she was. I looked everywhere and felt so depressed that I started to post my anguish. Halfway though my post to My Lot I heard some funny noises in the tub, like cat claws on porcelain. And, there she was again, as if nothing had happened, sitting in the tub. I cried for thirty minutes. I thought she was gone for good. But, she's back. You never know how much you love someone until they're gone. And, then you'd do anything to get them back.

A few months after I moved into my apt. my landlord decided to get rid of direct tv and go to digital cable (this tv stuff is included in my rent) and after a week decided to go back to direct tv. anyhow...the day that the tv guy came to hook up my direct tv, he hadn't told me the dude was coming. at the time i also didn't have a screen door, just the storm door. so i get home from work and walk up to my apartment and see that my door is open. I started flipping out and ran into my apt ...searching EVERYWHERE for my cat. I was so afraid he'd gotten out and i was about to kill my landlord. luckily, I keep one of my closet doors open and since the stranger in the house had scared him he had ran in the closet to hide and i found him under a few boxes. I was so relieved and totally went and yelled at my landlord for not telling the direct tv guy (who was also there) that I had a cat. it's definitely scary when you think your cat is missing.

A similar thing happened to us back when we lived in a big apartment complex. My husband opened the door to leave for work one night, and the cat apparently followed him out. (this is the other cat, Big Man, not the one in the wall.) I just saw a streak of gray run out the front door, and then a second later, I peeked my head out, and the cat was running up and down the corridor screaming and talking. When he saw my face, he ran back towards me and got back into the apartment. He has never been curious about the outside world since. Cats are a lot smarter than people know. They know where the good living is. With the people that love them. Be well. And, thanks for sharing your story.

No problem I love my cat and I'd be so hurt he ever ran away. He has gotten outside before but when something spooks him he runs right back inside the house. He hates snow, he's not a fan of rain and he's spooked very easily! He definitely knows where he's spoiled and that's why I was glad he didn't run out the open door.

I lost my cats all the times in my house. I'M sure then can be invisible once in a while, so that's why we can't find them. I understand how you felt. All my cats are my little babie, and I'Ll be crying if I lost one of them

I had the same feeling that my cat must be invisible when I was looking in the bathroom area for her. I was frantic, of course. They do seem to have magical abilities to appear in the most unusual places. Maybe the Egyptians knew a thing or two more about cats than we do. Cat lovers know their secrets though, right? Be well!

i'm glad that you found your cat back... you are so right... we won't know how much we love someone until we lose him/her... whether it is an animal or human beings... so i am learning to treasure all my loved ones that surround me now as i don't want to lose them and can't afford to lose them...

I am glad that you found your cat. It most likely went into the hole and when it got tired of being in there it crawled out and got into the tub then couldn't get back out again. Or it fell asleep in the tub and therefor you did not see it in your search. I am just glad you got your cat back! Just don't let your daughter put her in the bathroom again heh. Or the same thing might happen with worse results.

Yes, thank you for the advice. She is far too little to be handling the cats in such a manner. She kept telling me that the cat was mad at her. And, I thought she meant she was mad at the cat. I think she climbed in the wall like you mentioned, and just explored a bit. I guess she's done this before. We plugged the small hole in the wall, the minute she came out. And, I sat on the couch crying and holding her for almost an hour. Funny thing is that the cat, EB (the one in the wall) insisted on going to my daughter and laying beside her. I would have thought she would have been upset with her, but cats are funny that way. I would not want to lose her again, so I will be more careful.

Oh. It's really very sad when our pet go missing. My cat once gone missing. I cried a lot. I was small then may be 9 or 10 years old (can't remember). i cried a lot. could not sleep for few days. When I was slowing trying to forget her, I found her. She came back actually. But, without my cat I was really terrible.

I am glad kitty came back but what I want to know is, why did your daughter put kitty in the bathroom and shut the door? You must instruct her not to go around putting the cat in places and leaving it there, and be VERY CARFULL of it getting into the dryer or refridgerator too, I know, I have 30 cats!

:) I think your daughter hide the cat somewhere so you couldn't find it. then when you returned to mylotting, she returned the cat to the tub :) just a thought! but wouldn't be it dangerous for the cat to be in the tub? what if the tub is overloaded with water, it will kill the cat!

I go through a state of panic when I can't find my cat. My cat is an indoor cat and she is declawed. Our front door dosn't close very well, and I'm affraid she will get out. I really get scared when she isn't in any of her favorite sleeping places. But now she has a new one....the tub. I'm glad your cat came back! They are just like another child, aren't they...LOL
