How close are you to your nieces and nephews?

I know that my sister also is like you. I'm sure she loves my kids almost as much as I do and she hadn't kids also. Now she is trying hard to get pregnant by artificial fertilization. I hope so much that she can get pregnant! She will be a great mother and I hope I can do the same with her kids.

I am not as close to my niece and nephew as I should be I refer to myself as the bad aunt. I live in the same city and see them just a few times a year. My sister lives far away and sees more of them than I! I don't have any kids of my own and I don't really find them all that interesting, hopefully when they are a bit older I will get closer to them. Until then I guess I will be the bad aunt!

Well, my 2 yr old niece is almost my kid. She has lived with me since she was born. She does go to her moms every now & then (for about 2 hours a week) but she lives with me. So I am extremely close to my niece.

My niece is only two, and my nephew is only one, so I don't really have much of a relationship with them yet. I'm not even sure that they can recognize who I am yet. :) Unfortunately, I only see them about once a year, at Christmas, and now that I have moved across the country, I may miss out on that some years. But I hope that as they get older, I will be able to talk to them on the phone or via the internet, and still be a part of their lives.

I unfrotunatly arent as close to mine as i wish i could be. I am the youngest of 6 children and the 4 oldest brothers and sisters of mine have children older and the same age as me. So i grew up with them but grew apart like cousins tend to do when they get older. My other 2 sisters are closer to my age i have a neice that just turned 20 and i am 27 so we have a pretty good semi close relationship, we talk on yahoo every day and i am here for her if she ever needs me. Her little brother and sisters i was very close to back when i was younger and babysat everyone but now that they are 9 and 11 and we live a hour apart i only get to see them every once in a while. My other sister who is closer to me in age was raised by my grandmother and conciders her as the childrens grandmother and has disregarded my mother so i have some issues there and really try to keep in touch with her or her children. But if i would run into any of them i certainly wouldnt ignore them.

oh... the story. My brothers wife and I don't get along. My brother and I used to be close before his idiot of a wife came along and so that put a huge gap in our relationship. I don't know what happened really because there really wasn't a specific moment it all changed. It just did. My brother does life next door to my parents though so I get to see my nephews. Unfortunately because of the gap in the relationship between my brother and I and his wife I don't get to do things with my nephews on my own time. Not to mention that my brother apparently tells my mom that I treat his sons badly...I'm not sure how that is... but needless to say I'm not close to them, though I'd really like to be.

my husbands brother has 2 kids, a boy and a girl. they live in north carolina about 12 hours away, so we aren't very close to them. my sister has a 6 month old little boy who i try to see as much as i can. i hope to be close to him and be his cool aunt lol.

Hello myfanwy65 :) I, like you, don't have any children of my own. When I was around 9, my oldest sister had her first child - my nephew, and later, she had a beautiful girl. Whereas my oldest sister lived so close to home, I was often in charge of her children so I did become very close to them. (I have many other neices and nephews but they live away) Now, these two "children" are grown up. Tabitha, my oldest niece, just got married last year. And, Chris, my oldest nephew, has a beautiful daughter who is just over a year old. So, NOW, I'm a "great-aunt" and I absolutely LOVE it!! Now that my neice and nephew are adults, they've told me how I've influenced them over the years and I've often been referred to as "the favorite aunt" which makes me just beam with happiness.

i am very close to all my nieces and nephews. i dunno, maybe because i'm fond of kids and also i considered them as my own too because i took care of them when they were still little and of course, they are my brother and sister's sons and daughters so i take good care of them.

Because of my work,we rarely meet, but this does not affect our relationship and every time they met I feel very happy, Let me accompany them play, the time to time,I will accompany them to play a full day and will not idle trouble.

I have 4 nieces and 3 nwphews. I'm only close to one niece and newphew though. I get to see them all the time and love to spoil them. They are soon to be 4 and just turned 2. My Little nephew was kind of a birthday preset for me since he was born 10 days before my birthday. And my neice was born 2 days after me nad my husband got together. They are his brother's children and have always known me and Aunt even before we got married.

i have 4 nephews and 2 nieces. they're ages are from 17 to 21. i adore all of them and really proud of them.

I'm pretty close to my niece's and nephew's. At least most of them. I have 10 nieces and nephews. I'm pretty close in age to the first 5, as my mom had a later start with me. I'm the youngest. I have a niece and nephew older than me, and then I have 2 who are 2 years younger and 1 who is 4 years younger than me. I'm close to them in the almost cousin/friendship way. We all grew up together. The youngest 5 I'm really close to, and I babysit them a lot. I've been watching my one niece and nephew since they were infants, while my sister worked. They are almost like my own kids. Then my only full brothers daughter I'm pretty close to. I babysit them a lot. Especially 3 of the younger ones. People actually sometimes think my nephew is my kid. Everyone says my full brother's daughter looks like me when I was little. People have thought she was mine too. So yeah I'm really close to them.

I wish my nieces, nephews and I could get together more often. I have three nieces and two nephews. When I am at home in Canada they stil live too far away for us to get together, so my re-location to Arizona didn't make much of a difference.

Hi there. Im an aunty to a whole heap of children, as we have a big family, foster brothers and sisters included, and very close with the lot. I think this will always be as it is, I would always have this closeness with the lot of them, because Im probably the only aunty that takes the time to listen and give advice too, without judging them, Im also firm at the right times with them as well, which ends up being a happy situation... We also act the goat and play silly games that have us all in fits of laughter...
