What kind of things do you do while you camp? Hubby and I are taking the kids camping every weekend this summer, weather permitting. We are taking them to a bunch of local campgrounds. Looking for fun things to do with them so we dont run out of stuff to do, LOL. Anyone got any great ideas? Thanks

Well we always have a ball camping-- Don't forget the smores stuff-- that is always a big hit for nighttime- sitting around the campfire- My daughter is older than your children. We always take our bikes- and ride trails, swimming suits- every place we camp has a big pool!, frisbee (glow in the dark light up one) and we play at night, cards, books- Most of the time the kids are riding bikes and playing games- It's just fun being outside- Is their fishing at any place you are going?? we always take worms and the poles-- that is always fun! Have a great time!!

We took our children camping often when they were younger. We have a pull camper rather than tents (our backs just coudln't take it with mine and hubby's arthritis). We carried horseshoes with us (when the kids were really small we put the stakes closer together than called for), wiffle balls/bats, and a badmitton set. WE also enjoyed roasting marshmellows of course and other fireside treats such as smores, hotdogs on sticks etc. We had the kids collect leaves from as many types of trees that they could find and helped them to dry them and display them in photo albums. We looked for wildflowers the same way. (those were NOT picked or harmed). Many of the campgrounds had swimming. We always packed their bikes into the camper too. A hot commodity today would be the 'corn hole' boards. One could buy one or actually, I'd make one...they seem easy enough to make! All the colleges and professional teams have corn hole tournaments during their tailgating! kids love tossing those beanbags towards that little hole!

Fishing, swimming, wading, hiking, biking. See what the campgrounds have to offer in recreation.

I love camping. I have been camping since I was 3 months old. In the olden days we would be be in tents, these days I camp in a motor home. I think I am getting soft. When I go camping I like to GeoCache. It is a combination of hiking and searching for treasures in the woods. For more info on it check out www.geocaching.com it is a lot of fun. I also love sitting by the campfire telling stories, roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. I found a great hiking stick on the beach a few years back and every time I camp I work on it. It is a work in progress, I whittle, paint and sand, it is almost finished and I will have to find another to work on. Happy camping.

That is going to be fun. Some of the campgrounds have activities planned, which makes for a fun weekend. Walking the trails, swimming, and having a fire to roast marshmellows. I'd look up each campground and see if they have special things planned on certain weekends and plan which ones you'll visit according to what is going on at the different ones.

Well besides the obvious of hiking, bike riding, fishing and swimming. You can bring games along. Like bocci ball or board games. Sit around a pick nick table as a family and play cards during lunch. Get in the car and explore the sourounding area. No one says you have to stay at the camp ground. Good luck!

In the evening we always go to the amphitheater and watch whatever display they are having. My son has learned about all kinds of bugs, birds, and animals in these. During the day we swim, walk, bike ride, we even take games to play in the afternoon when it gets too hot to be out running around. If we go out of town, which we rarely do, we try to hit some of the historical sites in that city, and we all like to go to the little antique shops that most towns have. We also take crayons, coloring books, water balloons, frisbies, ball and glove to play catch.
