No, I'm just saying that would be embarassing. I've left the grocery store without paying for a 12 pack of sodas because the clerk didn't see them in the bottom of the cart and i didn't realize it untill i got to the car but if that had happened and i realized right before i got to the door and the alarm went off that would have been embarrassing.

No. If the store overcharged you and later found out, would they call you up to give you a refund? Of course not, you have to come back and tell them about it. If a cashier makes a mistake, then they should have done a better job training him/her.

Well even i wont go back and pay him. but i would remind him during my next shopping and make the payment. What if the shopkeeper reminds u tat he overcharged in his previous bill and deducts u tat amt in ur current bill.

But, are you really cheating them? It's not like you were carrying the item in your pocket and they didn't see it. If you give them the item and they still don't charge you for it, that falls on them, not you.

I just take it as a good deal and forget about it.

It depends on what the item was. If I notice that someone has forgotten to charge me while I'm still there, I say something. If I was already home, and it was something small, I probably wouldn't. If it was quite significant, I would probably pay for it, next time I was at the store.

In a situation like that, I would probably do the same. It's one thing for an item to be missed that way. It's totally opposite to have the item on the counter and the cashier doesn't scan it.

I would love to say I am so honest that I would go back and pay for it but that would be a lie. I've had it happen, not once but twice and I didn't go back.

That is a good point. If it's a small business that's working hard to keep running, then I might actually consider returning with the item. But, a big corporation like Walmart? Heck no.

You all make good points. I wasnt charged for something and Ive been debating all night wether I should go back. I'd feel really bad if it was a family owned establishment, but the fact that it's a huge corporation... Im not sure...

Huge corporation wouldn't miss it more than likely. Mom and pops stores I would never say is okay.

I bought $10.00 in gas one time and put on my bank card (debit) and when I was going through my receipts I noticed they only charged me a $1.00. When I went back into town I stopped by and showed them the receipt and told them I owed them $9.00. They were actually RUDE to me!!! They were very Sarcastic to me!!! I could not believe it!!!!

Holy cow!! Thats happened to me!!! like 4 times at the same gas station and when I went to check online all my charges on my debit card, it was only 1$$. I figured it would come out later, but it never did. I still havent figured out why that happened.

This has happen to me so many times. I have a box of diapers on the bottom rack of the cart. Well i get to my car load all my kids and see the diapers...I am like oh crap I don't want to unload everyone and go back in. So the next time I am at the store I grab a box of diapers and when I leave I tell them that last time i was there I didn't notice diapers on the bottom rack and I tell them I want to pay for them now and to put the diapers back on the shelf. I have had so many cashier...say..."what?" They can't believe I am doing that. I think that is sad when someone does something good we are in shock. It should be the other way around.

I agree. When I worked in retail once or twice I had someone come back to pay for an item they forgot about or one of the cashiers forgot to ring up to be honest I was shocked. I guess its just hard to find honest people out there anymore. I have come to the conclusion that I will go back and pay for it this week. It wasnt product that I left with, I was getting my ring welded together and the cashier and I were just talking and then he said "well have a good night" and I said the same to him. It wasnt until maybe bedtime that I realized I hadnt paid for the services. And its been eating me away so Im goin back.

No way. There have been times where I have paid for an item and forgot to bag it and the cashier did'nt run after me to remind me so I would not go back and pay for something they missed.

yes I would and that has happened to me a couple times before. If you were at a big store and they did that and you didn't say anything the alarm would prolly go off and you would get accused of shoplifting anyway.

It is a tough call. From a hugh conglomerate department store, I would not return to pay for it. If it was the grocery store, I would not return and offer to pay for it either, there is such a huge mark-up on our food that if they missed a box of cereal as they were scanning, so be it. If it was the corner Mom & Pop store, I would return it, because I know them personally and they have a name and reputation and it isn't just some cold establishment.
Unfortunately, it does depend on the situation also. If I caught my child taking a pack of gum from that same huge conglomerate store, I would make her go back and offer to pay for it or work it off. I know, it is a double standard, but I'm a parent, not God!

yes as it would be stealing that said over here we have a rack at the bottom of shopping trollys mum puts the bag of potatos there as its easier than being in the trolly and she pays for her stuff and after emptying the trolly there are the potatoes we didnt return the.
i bought a couplw of books from a shop i worked out the price before i paid he worked it out and gave me the change and it was more than i worked out so i told him and he said to keep it.
