When you are going to buy a meal. Will you dine in or takeaway/to go? For myself, if I am alone .... I usually buy prefer to go as I feel more comfortable eating at home or in the office. Moreover, I feel awkward if somebody waiting for a table and I am occupying the table. How about you? Dine in or to go? Please share your thought.

If you are already at the table by yourself stay there don't feelbad as long as it's not a large table.I get aggravated sometimes when I go into a restaurant with my daughter and want a booth,so we can eat and do some paperwork at the same time we eat and there are 3 people by themselves and 3 different boothes, they have no papers, shopping bags, etc. and there is space at the counter or smaller tables. Why? But,if you are at a smaller table or the counter, then don't feel bad you were there first.I have seen where there is a table for 4 and a couple sits there and an another couple or single person comes in and they offer them the other side of the table. No need to leave.

Thank you for your loveliness. But, at times I feel sorry that I occupy a space as usually it can sit 2. :o)

Hello, maehan,it depends on my mood. I do not mind to dine in the restaurants by myself,i do not feel embarassed if someone is waiting for a table,to some extent,i even enjoy in eating alone as i can eat slowly and not other people affecting my speed of dining. If I am tired,i tend to takeaway and have the meal at home.

You are amazing! I will be panic if I know somebody is waiting for table. I would have ask the service staff to get a piggy bag ..... pack and go. I know it kinda of funny, but I still can't get use to ppl waiting especially staring at me. You are great!

Both ways are fine with me, really. I don't mind eating alone at a cafe or restaurant. I could just enjoy a nice book or magazine while I wait for my food. Also, having my food there means that I can eat it on the spot when it's freshly cooked. Otherwise by the time, I get home, my food might already be all soggy. Sometimes, I'd do a takeaway. But that's usually when the weather is so hot that I really don't want to eat in that heat outside so I'd rather bring it home quicly where I can trun on the fan and maybe watch my favourite TV programme. :)

I only eat alone under no choice circumstances which is when I am on business trip. You are right, when bring home food, it will get soggy especially noodle and bee hoon.

hm for me if i'm alone i prefer to take away than dine in some restaurant because it will strange to me to eat alone in place that very crowded with people eating together, so i'll just takeaway the food that i want to eat and go home to eat..

Hey, i share the same exact sentiments as u... I never dine alone.. I mean thats so weird and yah, people will be staring at u if they are waiting for the table, moreover, i wun be able to enjoy the food... So why make myself so uncomfortable.. I might as well, be happy about it, do a takeaway, go home and enjoy my food slowly over a cup of coffee or on my tv to keep myself entertained... Tt way, i will be happier...

I usually like to eat at home, too, if it's just me. However, my wife likes the idea of eating out. I also like it if only for the fact that we don't have to clean up after ourselves and we can get some service instead of having to clean up after ourselves, or get up to get our own drinks, etc.

That's pretty normal, my family like to eat at home unless we are out shopping. Then, we are all too tired to cook and wash later, so eat out.

i prefer eating alone, inside the restaurant. in that way i can enjoy my meal and observe people at the same time. when i eat at home, it's just myself again, so it's lonelier =)

if i am alone and im going to buy a meal, i'd usually dine in a fast food. that way i dont have anything to wash afterwards. i can take a smaller table and if someone's waiting for a table i'd invite him or her to sit and share the table with me.

I would order to go and take it somewhere else to eat. I was alone one day and decided to have breakfast, i stayed to eat because breakfast foods arent as easy for take out, and i felt really awkward. I was the only one in the entire resturant eating alone and people would look over at me and i would wonder if they were talking about me or something. So since that day i always order take out when i am alone.

I tend to use the drive-thru. I don't like eating out - alone. And I am usually running somewhere else, so I am generally eating it in the car in this case.

Definitely takeaway when I'm alone. I just can't eat all by myself. I don't like that lonely feeling. I'd rather be at home, even if it means I'm the only one there. I just feel more vulnerable when I'm eating alone in a crowded restaurant. I'm just weird like that I guess.. :P
