You're coming back from a long business trip. You're tired. You just can't wait to see your family. So you board a plane and all you wanna do is sleep through the whole flight.. Suddenly, you hear a guy talking to himself. You look over to your right, and you're wrong. He's actually talking to you!
I'm sure most of us have been through the exact situation, or more or less the same thing. A chatty passenger! What do you do when you encounter such people? Do you bluntly tell them to zip it? Or do you just simply ignore them? I've tried to just ignore but it just doesn't seem to work with them. By telling them to shut up, I wouldn't wanna seem rude either. So how do you go about it?
Thanks for sharing people.. ;)

I'm one of those people who just can't sleep on a plane, so I don't mind a chatty neighbor. But if you want to sleep, I think that after a little polite conversation, you should be straight forward and say that you're exhausted and really need a nap before arriving at your destination.
If you're uncomfortable telling them that you could be sneakier. Most flights have movies, so when they put on the movie act like it's something you really want to see, put on your head phones and fall asleep. Another convenient lie might be that you get motion sick on planes so it's best if you just sleep through the whole thing. I'm sure your chatty neighbor would rather have you asleep than sick.

If you have a magazine, you could tell them there's this great article (pick any of them) and offer to let them read it. Or you could respond to them and then comment on how busy your day was and plans that are made for your destination then say you're gonna need make use the plane ride for a little nap before you get back and meet with your friends

Oh jeesh, i just hate these people. Some of them can't even take a hint. There was this one time while I was on a train to work, my 50 year old seatmate began commenting on how our economy was falling apart yadah 3x... Hello? I was 19 that time, what do I care? I'm really not used to being rude.. at least not in public.. but I really felt like telling him to keep his tongue behind his falling teeth.. I just rolled my eyes wishing he would stop soon, and we both know he didn't. So I tried to convince him that I was asleep by leaning back and closing my eyes. But the train was full so there were people standing on the ride, someone stepped on my toe and it blew my cover off.. Oldie began another story, something about how our government blah blah blah, ugh, I got so frustrated I gave him a few good lines I learned from French class. I felt other passengers looking at me, but atleast that got oldie tongue-tied and he never said another word til i reached my stop.
