How Can You Tell If A Site Is A Scam Or Not

I know the first thing is 'if it's too good to be true, then it probably is'
But when I was surfing on the traffic exchanges I came across a site which caught my eye, and it does look good but I want to know if anyone else has come across this site and whether it's a scam or not, any personal recommendations WELCOME
It's called Power_profit_24/7 and you pay a one off fee of $20 and they promote your url and for every sign up you get $10 into your alertpay or stormpay account
I only have Paypal, do you have to pay for an alertpay or stormpay account? And are they for NON-US citizens
The site looks really good and you can post ads on their classifieds too, so I thought about promoting Mylot etc... and you receive a bonus
But there is nothing in the t&c's about whether you have to be US citizen so I'm doubtful
What do you reckon, advice please or is it/does it sound like another scam on the market
Thanx
(PLEASE NO REFERRAL URL LINKS)

Hello, wolfie,I think that site may be a scam,I always think it is not good to join a site and pay joining fees to them.If the site is really good,it should have made money itself,so why does it need to ask member to pay upfront fees?
Also,as you do not have any alertpay or stormpay account and the rules are not clearly stated, you are not really sure you are eligible for the site, you may lose your money if you do not or when the site is a scam indeed.
Good luck.

maybe this one kind of help you. For me I don't really believe people get free money...you got paid because you trade something either your time or something else. If you gotta pay money usually i check if there money back guarantee better if there's a contact number or e-mail that you contact them ask how's the program really gonna work. make sure there's real people behind it;)...and better again if they have BBB ( better business bureau ) approval on their site. and then you can look up their domain their website address on WHOIS...to see who and where the owner of the site. hope this is helpful

Well I've never heard of this particular site, but my rule of thumb is - if they want YOU to pay them anything - it's always some kind of scam! Bona fide businesses do NOT want money up-front, simple as that! If you think of the Internet sites that have proved that they do pay out - for example myLot, YiuGov Surveys, ArcherFish in the UK etc, - then none of them want people to pay them anything. So my advice woud be - steer clear! I would also say that in general it is best for us Europeans to steer clear of US based sites, apart from something established and proven like MyLot. The poor exchange rate, and the fact that sites like PayPal may charge us commission for exchanging the money from a $ payment into £, means it isn't worth our while. And as for StormPay and AlertPay - I've ever heard of either of them, so I personally wouldn't give my Bank or personal details to aything that I hadn't heard a lot about and researched carefuly.
Cheers.

That's what I love about this site my friend, because I've created a discussion about whether to invest or not I have got some great feedback and now I've saved myself $20 and a lot of time and effort which can be used for better things! Thank you my friend x

Alertpay isn 't bad, I don't trust stormpay , they took all my money over 1,000 bucks, so i don't really trust all these other processors, even egold is getting dodgy now and I am a bit weary, but I don't think the sight itself is necessarily dodgy..You will only know if you try, but I don't have alertpay, after the stormpay fiasco I was a bit scared to venture out into other processors, but that's just me..a lot of people are using alertpay..
good luck..Alfie

well you really can't tell wether a site is a scam or not.. only by trying it or asking trusted friends about it.. I've experienced many scam sites.. and yet haven't got a chance to recognize all of them :(

1 thing Ihave learned and learned it the HARD way is that you shoulent have to pay someone else to work. Think about it you wouldent pay McDonalds just to get a job with them. Dont pay any fees unless it is a home based business. If it is a home based business then I can see spending the money otherwise I wouldent do it.

You can always check on forum boards, scam sites...and see if they have a bbb. registration but I like to talk to other people who have actualy done it and been paid. Thats where the forum boards come in handy because they let you know for sure whats going on......good luck friend

I am very careful about scams lately. I went to check the site I'll be afraid to pay anything because one time I paid for something then wham they went away and took my money :( so I was sad and try to learn not to spend on something if you thinks it's not a scam but it looks like it might be a scam to me so I wouldn't trust it.

I am unsure, my friend...I have not heard of it but that means very little as I am not an avid internetter....I would try to contact them to see about the country restrictions if they have any...plus ask about the Paypal issue....then if they respond favorably proceed with caution....there are many many scams out there and the common thread of all of them ,is that they do not ultimately look like scams...
Be careful, my friend...

If you have to pay for it, if you have to give personal info in order to sign up....social security numbers, bank account pins, credit card numbers and pins......anything that you should share with anyone.
