Will you feel nervous to eat in a high class and very expensive restaurant?

I will feel nervous to eat in such a restaurant. I think I have to behave myself well. I have to speak in a low voice. I have to eat quietly. How about you?

Hi, I have no problem in high class restaurant. I have studied hospitality after I appointed a new job and it was related to social work. So I study alot about how to dress, how to eat, how to hold glass and spoon and etc. We do not feel nervous but feel free to eat as long as we know the rules. We should remember i thing that is don't too much. ha.. ha...ha...

It depends on the situation. If I'm eating by myself then I don't really care. If I'm eating with someone that knows which fork to use when, then I just follow that person's lead.

No that doesn't bother me at all as I don't think that these people are any better than any one else just because they have money. I just am myself, always try to be polite wherever I am. If I had my son with me, then yes I would be a little bit concerned as he is into more ghetto culture than posh and it would be a bit funny. But a few times we went to posh places he waso.k but I would get a little bit edgy with kids..

Yeah, being rich is not a big deal all the time. You can have a better knowledge, you have a smarter mind, you have a kinder heart...

hehe when I was 12 and we had just moved to a new town in a new state adn had not yet gotten our house set up we went out to dinner at a place called the Beaches.... with a name like that we were in the impression that we would find people in shorts and sandles... whoa were we ever mistaken! it was a real swanky place - people were in suit and tie and semi formal gowns - and here we were in our most casual clothing... I was surprised that they let us in let alone fed us. We were really out of place and very conspicuous. We ate very fast and tried to hide ourselves the best we could - thankfully the lighting was dim, hehe.

I have several articles written on this very topic on my website. Feel free to visit http://www.mannersthatsell.com/articles/index.html and scan the list for topics related to dining.

I used to be nervous when I'm younger and felt the same way that you did. But, now, I know that no one is really watching me. I can see myself drawing attention to myself if I were dressed wrong, smelled bad, or were really loud. But, I would stand out anywhere I went, not just there. I don't like eating in those restaurants because I feel that I am not getting a good deal for the money and I don't believe in paying for the "atmosphere".

That's a good reason. Perhaps the dish is the same, but we have to pay much more for its "atmosphere"

well if there is an event or you are invited for a party then you can dress properly, but if you will just dine ther you dont need to dress up that much except if the place has a dress code. but if you will only dine ther look around, even the tourist just go there and eat wearing tshirt and shorts.

i'd be nervous for the first 20-30 minutes :) but after that, i might be relaxed already. i will feel really nervous if i don't get to dress properly for the place and not able to pronounce the words on the menu. but once i start eating, i'd forget everything around me. i'd try to enjoy the food and the ambiance. i'd just behve a little so as not to get the attention of other diners.

I think it's better to dress properly when eating in this kind of restaurant is necessary. At least you will be more confident.

Oh yeah. I'm not comfortable in such places. I feel like that my every move's being watched and that I'm being judged by the way I behave and eat. I prefer eating in cool restaurants where you can be yourself and enjoy the food rather than pretending to be high society... which is I'm NOT. Hehe. Cheers! Happy Posting :)

I won't feel nervous but I think it's necessary for us to pay much more attention to our behavior and manners there. Maybe some people feel nervous. As for me, I think that's no need at all. Just enjoy what you ordered at that time and that's okay. Have a nice day!:)

I will feel nervous for the high class restaurant that i have never been. I like to enjoy the atmosphere of the high class resraurant but i do feel a little uncomfortable about about the extreme table services and every body was so quite and talk in low voice and also has to be aware with the table manners, make sure you don't use the wrong utensil...:) For an example,in some high class restaurant ,the waitress will keep coming back to your table in order to ensure they provide the best services to their customer ,to make sure their customers are not neglected for the services. This is the extra bonus for having meal at high class restaurant, you are treated like a king and queen..LOL But ,for me,i don't feel confortable if the waitress keep coming back several times to my table while i'm eating.I prefer no interuption while i'm eating unless i request for service. That's make me feel uncomfortable knowning that people keep watching you while you were eating.....:)

That's true. It's a little bit annoying that they always pour you some drink when it gets empty or half full. I think the waiters really pay attention to you and this is very nervous:)

Hi, gracelee114. I'm feeling that way, too. There's no need for us to be nervous or uncomfortable. Just enjoy the food we ordered and that's enough. Glad to share your opinions. Have a nice day! :)

I am mmore nervous of what stunts my children might pull. One gets very nercous in those cases and starts talking, too much and too loudly. And he is always talking about things, out of nerves, that I have to shush him about. Another child doesn't seem to be able to remember what, "Sit down and behave yourself" means as soon as we enter into restaraunts. I think we will just use take out and delivery services until they turn 35.

Children are always the headache in the restaurants. I also tell my son to behave himself.
