I think it is imperitive that we wash our hands purely for hygiene reasons. As for our genitals I don't think it is required. We should however be conscious of our hygiene and wash properly say in the evening, shower or bath.
I have yet to see and would by the way not like to see someone washing their parts in a public loo for everyone to see. Could you reach the hand blower LOL

Lols. With the existing facility I have, I cannot afford to wash my private part everytime I urinate. Thanks.

Totally agree, it is just dirty not to wash your hands.
In the odd public loo there are moist tissue dispensers but you would have to take care of it in the cubicle behind closed doors.
If I was to take my 7 year old son into the public toilet and stand him at the sink to wash his hands, and then see a man next to him with his parts out giving it a good old hose down, I would go mad. Not in front of my son.
Then again as mentioned it never happens here so the thought doesn't cross my mind.
I am wondering now whether people are getting confused with hands and tools LOL

I'm also not sure if you mean just drying up with tissue paper or actually washing with water & soap. I know other countries have different practices, but in the US bidets (is that the right word?) are not popular and most women just clean up with tissue or a baby wipe. As far as I know, most men do not wash after urinating.

I meant any mode of cleaning. It can be washing with water or wiping with baby wipes or napkins. Thanks for responding.

for men and women it should be a must-to-do habit to prevent them from getting any types of infection specially urinary tract infection. it's a religious practice among muslim brothers and sister to do this practice of cleansing their body including private parts before worshipping to Allah.

I think it is necessary to wash private parts after every urination. But always it is not possible. So atleast once it should be washed. If we not wash it there is a chance of getting infection to such parts.

I think it is to keep yourself clean and healthy. If you don't wash yourself then you could get an infection. But what do you mean by washing after urination? Like wipeing, or actually getting down there and scrubbing? Lol I think wipeing is enough.

For me it is necessary but only with water and nothing else. It would be more harmful if one uses a feminine wash every washing after urination. It could actually strip ones natural protection against bacteria among other things.

I guess its necessary for hygiene purposes... esp for girls. I mean I myself is not comfortable to use comfort room if there is no water available or tissue...I'll go to the store first to buy what i need then use the comfort room. I think after a couple of hours of not washing the private part... it will sell awful... yuck! lols...:P

I think a visit to the doctor would be in order then. I'm sorry but you should not smell down below after a couple of hours. That normally only happens if there is an infection like thrush present.

As a woman, I use toilet paper to dab dry, but most often I keep baby wipes in the bathrooms in my house to freshen up during the day after a urination. I don't like feeling dirty so I like to clean up with a baby wipe. It is healthier to clean up afterwards.

Yup, it's a must, especially for the girls. It can help us to avoid any diseases and any bad odor. I always make sure to wash mine because if i don't wash it i feel irritated and uncomfortable. I use feminine wash but only once a day. Tissue and plain water will do after every urination.

If you have all the time in the world, then yes. But, I don't think it is necessary either unless you want to do so.

As for hygiene it’s a must. But it’s not necessary to wash after every urination especially using public toilets. If this were to be done in public toilet there is a possibility of getting inflection due to the contaminated hands.
Another argument for not washing too often is that urine won’t cause harm. In fact it contains salt which could be used as a sterilizer for germs as the normal saline does.
It's natural and that's why we never see animals washing that part lol...

Well I doubt that a lot of people wash them selves after especially if they were in a public wash room. If I was in a public washroom and I saw someone come out and start washing their private area I would think they had something wrong with them, I have never seen aanyone do this . I only hope that they would wash their hands.

Hi samson1967, I think it is absolutely necessary to keep these body parts clean irrespective of teh gender.
Not washing these parts after urination might result in urinary tract infection which can lead to other illness that affects kidneys, reproductive system etc.
So it is always to take a little care of our body parts..
