Drives Me Nuts!

Ok, so not sure where to post this, but I assume that being online is a big part of your life, or you wouldn't be here! It drives me nuts when people are posting and they post in all lower case letters. It may not be true, but I view those that do so as lazy or less intelligent...spelling errors not included, well most of the time anyway! Don't take this personally if you do this, just my opinion. We are all human and make many mistakes, but even online we leave an impression. Why not take the time to write correctly? As a society, are we really becoming this lazy? Just drives me nuts, and again my own personal opinion! What do you think?

It really drives me nuts to see all of the spelling and grammar mistakes. It just shows how lazy people are getting to where they don't even care about how they come across to people. I understand that some people have dyslexia and other contributing factors that makes it hard for them to get the spelling right all of the time. But it just drives me nuts to see a sentance that is suppossed to read, "Me too, this site is great as is all of the people that are on it, they are just great!", come out looking something like this, "Me 2, this site is gr8 as is all of the ppl that r on it, they r just gr8!" If you have the time to sit there and make all of the abbreviations then you have the time to sit there and spell them out correctly.

Really? There are so many more important things to get stressed over than things like this. To view people as lazy or less intelligent, says a lot about yourself. Especially when you have made more than a few punctuation errors in your post.

well, i am one of the person guilty of posting in all lower case letters... but i do not make abbreviations and i try to minimise spelling errors as best as i could... it is just my style... it got nothing to do with laziness... and when i need to use capital letters (like referring to God), then i will use it... i'm sorry of you dislike it or it drives you nuts... it's just my style...

hello momsunited, I agree, there is no excuse for writing in lower case, and the abreviations. I read a response to one of my discussions, there were so many letters I felt like asking for a vowel. The whole 20th Century was given to the lazy. And the 21st Century doesn't look any better. Peace, Totty

I agree with your opinion. Most of the people that write online do so with the utmost laziness. As you said, they write all in lower case letters, incorrect grammar, careless spelling, etc. If it's worth writing, it's worth doing it right - even online. You're right again - this does leave a lasting impression on the reader.

To answer the question, yes, as a society we are becoming lazy. How many times do you see people posting in txt format? Shortcuts, abbreviations. We are so lazy we hate to wait 30 minutes for a pizza. Half the world would probably die if we took away their remote controls. Ok, I know that doesn't have to do with writing in all lower letters, but I had to go down that road.

I totally agree! If a post has all lower case, text abbreviations and tons of spelling errors, I stop reading it. It isn't worth my time to try to figure out what the person is attempting to say. There are plenty of other discussions on here to respond to. I guess it could be because I'm a stickler for spelling and grammar.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I also abhorr some of the rampant overabuse of those chat speak abbreviations that make posts look like liner notes to old Prince albums. What gets to be even more fun is when we get some of these kids into the workforce, particularly IT. (IT is my chosen career path, been in for 17 years now.) We get these people in and ask them to document installations or other tasks and they are completely unintelligibile. You do not even want to see some of the meeting minutes that have come out like some of these posts!

I do that sometimes. Usually in my blog, tho it spread to other areas online. But I have no problem switching back and forth between all lower case and proper capitalization. Actually, in my blogs, since I do paid posts it helps people who read them differentiate between a personal post and a sponsored post. If they see capitalization they know to just skip the post.

I can see where you are coming across on this issue. I'm on firefox so if I type something wrong, it showes a red line. Maybe it's just personal preference. *shrugs* I don't know
