It could be hormones, or the recent marriage of your son. I am on anti depressents, and I want to go off. If I do, will I become depressed again? See what your doctor says, and try not to get back on if you don't really need to sugar. Bless you, M&M

It may be hormones Margieanne. I am now feeling a bit better. I really don't want to go back on anti-depressants if at all possible. It takes months to ween off them.

Well Elusive I have been the same and I am on them as I am being kept on them because without them I can not deal with my Disability and basically if I get stressed out or in bad ways it makes my Lungs swell up and that has to be avoided but I still get sad very sad when I think about the Days when I was fit and working and nothing would stop me
I really hope that you get better soon

I have to say that I am not a "pill popper" HOWEVER, we only have this one life to live, so why be sad when you can feel much better? If they made you feel like you could cope better last time, why not do it again. Think of the positive benefits. If it is just the stigma of taking anti depressants, I say to h3ll with it and get back on them. Do this not only for yourself, but for the ones you love. I could not imagine spending my life being sad. If I were ever in that situation, I would surely ask my doctor for something to make me feel better.

I was on antidepressants for a couple of months, but they made me feel like a robot. My doctor thought I should stay on them for the rest of my life, but I can think and feel better without them right now. When I start feeling like I can't handle things, I'll take some Valerian root. That seems to help, and I get out and exercise or visit with friends, and that helps too. I've heard that St. John's Wort works well too, but makes you more sun-sensitive.

Try seek for medical help so you can be diagnosed. It is good to take something that's prescribed by a doctor. We need to make sure we are safe all the time specially that health is wealth. God bless!

Just recently i went without the meds for a couple of weeks and i couldn't handle the withdrawal symtoms, so i needed and wanted to get back on the medications. I don't know how long you have been off of anti-depressents, but perhaps you could manage on smaller doses?
Take care ElusiveButterfly.

If your sad moments add up more than the good ones. Than yes you need to talk to your doctor and find out if anit depressants are for you or not. I take ani depressants. Even thou I don't want to. But I have realized that not taking them brings higher risks to my life. So I take them because I see how they help. I can tell the difference when I haven't taken them.

If you need them, take them. On the other hand, you may want to try some other things first. It turns out that lots of people, especially women of our age are disturbed by hot muggy weather, they are calling it summer seasonal affective disorder. Stay hydrated, keep as cool as possible, especially at night.Get enough sleep. You may want to do some reading about this online. Some people find that sublingual B12 relieves some symptoms of depression as well. Of course if the symptoms persist for more than a couple of weeks. If you know what has worked for you before, it may not be much trouble to get it prescribed again. Some people find that cutting refined sugar and starches is beneficial as well. I know you have a ton of responsibilities, so friend, take care. Have a big Hug.

Depression is a chemical imbalance and is not something you can contol on your own. I have been there and know exactly how bad it can get. See your doctoc and tell him/her what is going on. Anti-depressants don't have to be permenant, I managed to get off them and have been doing good for over 2 years now. But there was a time that I feel if I had not taken them I would not be here today. Get help. It is very important. You have people who care about you so rely on them to help you through whatever it is that is going on.

Oh my friend Im sorry to hear this. Truely I am. But if something is making you sad you have to address it. It also could be you starting a new job too. So if you think by going back on them it will help you by all means do it. And I hope you feel happy again my friend.Hugs to you

I have been on & off anti-depressants for nearly twenty five years. I had a big period off them, between ages 26 to 35 years. Since then I have been on them more or less continuously. I have to come to accept that I will probably need them for the ret of myn life. I was on the lowest dose for a few years, but early thi year, I was getting quite depressed & teary. I knew why. I wen back to the Doctor & she put me on a higher level.
It may be that you need to go back on anti-depressants. If for a couple of weeks, your symptons don't subside it is likely. You may or may not konow what the trigger is, & you may, or may not be able to do anything about it.
You will feel a whole lot better with the medication, if you are indeed clinically depresed.

maybe the anti-depressants alone are not working have you ever thought about talking to someone about why you feel the way you feel.just talking to someone can help or keeping a journal of your feelings is a good way to get ahold of your feelings to. a lot of prayer works wonders.

I know it is not fun to have to take anti-depressants but some people do need them in order to feel better. If it is the only way to get you to feel good all the time or most of the time than you should continue with them. I think we all have many sad days as well as happy ones. The best thing I hear that we can do is get out of the house more often. Getting out in the sunshine.

Why do you feel sad? Is there any reason for being sad? Maybe you just need to let out what's bothering you. I am on anti-depressants and if I don't take them I am very weepy too, my doctor prescribed them to me. Right now I am going through stressful moments and I feel a little bit depressed but I pray and go to my bible and I felt better.
