Do you brush your Upper or loweR teeth first?

This is a million dollar challenge. If you tell me you have never ever brushed your teeth before, I will give you a million bucks (lww currency lol), no questions asked. ;-)
So there, I know we all brush our teeth. Big or small, we are all good boys and girls.
I find that I normally start brushing with my lower teeth first. Then I will catch myself with my own logic and brush my upper teeth instead. My own thought is that if I brush the top first, then the "debris" will drop and dirty the lower teeth. So it makes more sense to brush the top, then take care of the bottom.
Don't ask me if this is clinically proven for I have absolutely no idea. :P
So as and when I remember, I will start with the upper teeth first. What about you? Surely you have a fixed brushing sequence? Upper? Or lower first? Or really totally random? Even if you are brushing your dentures, you can have a sequence. Do share your thoughts! ^^

Wow this little wolfie has fangs remember so he has to be careful when he brushes his, and to keep them nice and sharp! So he tends to brush the uppers first because they are of course the more important ones then the lower ones. He does it just once a day before bed and he gargles too, can't have wolfie breath now can I?

Oh gosh, I forgot about werewolves! Lol :P
And upper ones more important than lower ones? How so? Aren't they equally important?

hey, how legal tender is LWW currency? Maybe it would be better if converted to Singapore Dollars. What is the exchange rate, btw?
Since I know what I am doing, I have never brushed my teeth before. Nobody taught me to and I lost all my teeth at a young age. I am using dentures now. So I guess I am entitled to the million bucks! lol.
Now for the billion dollar answer. How do I brush my dentures? I brush the top left inner, then proceed to the right and then front. Then the inside of the teeth before doing the bottom set, in similar manner. That how the dentist say can preserve my dentures for few decades.

I am afraid there is no exchange rate available because lww currency will be pretty much a collector's item in Singapore. You will have to go through auction houses to get them. Not cheap, mind you lol.:P
Alright, we can hook on viewcam one day and you can show me your toothless mouth. Then I will send you the 1 mil. ;-)

wow, what a question!ha ha I usually brush my front teeth forst, both upper and lower and then go to the inner teeth.I brush for exactly 2 mins as I read in a book that one should spend 30 seconds for each set of teeth-front,back,lower and upper.sometimes when I am thinking of somehting though,I will continue brushing until I realise that my teeth are literally squeaky clean-they squeak when I run my finger on them..ha ha.I donlt have dentures so can;t say about that.ha ha ha funny thing about somebody never having brushed his/her teeth.I can't think how smelly that person's mouth would be!:)

Hi, nageswari75.
Yeah, I agree with you. How smelly the one's mouth would be! Incredible!
I guess there won't be such a person in the whole world.
The limitation of the time brushing?
I've heard that we should keep two or three minutes while brushing our teeth.
You did a good job! Keep going!
Have a nice day! :)

lol does it make any difference or will brushing the lower or upper make my teeth shine (eee) ^^.
Well i brush my teeth from the upper part first and then slowly come down to lower and then upper again and lower and the cycle continues ... brush cycle that is

I actually go left to right. I don't necessarily start top to bottom. My habit is to do the left side, then the front, then the right, then the front again. Very weird.

Now I have to really stop and think. Brushing my teeth is so automatic I never really think about it. I think though that I start with my lower teeth first. Of course the next time I brush I will probably find it to be the opposite. Ha.

I always brush my top first and then my lower. It just seems to make more sense lol.
Everyone I know (that I've seen brush their teeth :P) start with the top and then the bottom. Then I work my way around and make sure I've brushed my back teeth as well as the front. I even brush my tongue, because thats where a lot of bacteria tends to stick.

I go either way. Sometimes I do the top, and sometimes I do that bottom. Do we get a special prize for doing it one way or the other when we get to heaven? Do tell because I love prizes. :)

I am sure after 15 hours, I am alas not the first responder. :( However, I am still responding, so that counts for something...lol. I start at the bottom, then I close my teeth and do the front of both top and bottom. Then I open wide, brushing the back side. Then the tops/bottoms of the teeth. After that I brush my tongue. Did you know how much bacteria lives on your tongue ??? Then I rinse, floss, rinse again, then mouth wash.

I honestly don't understand the fascination about being the first responder. In fact, I don't quite like being the first responder...

Lol I don't think it makes a difference because when you gargle water or mouthwash everything goes out anyway! :P I start in the very centre of my teeth going in a circular motion so I think my lower teeth get it first but I make sure there is Brushstroke Equality for all my teeth!

Hello Lordwarwizard,
I wouln't have ever given this a second thought, had you not posted this observation. You have very keen observation skills.
Yes, I do have a tooth brushing habit, or routine. I also start on my lower teeth. Then, work my up to the uppers. I also brush the inside of the teeth, followed by the outside.
I have an electric, orbital toothbrush, that is timed for two minutes per cycle/brushing. So, I tend to divide my teeth into quarters -- applying 30 seconds per quadrant.
I'm sure this wasn't my brushing routine before the electric toothbrush. I will admit that I find it really interesting tha,t as I now think about it, I have a specific brushing ritual. Hmmm, I don't know if that really means anything, but I find it interesting.

Ya' know, I'm sure that I wasn't as thorough before the electric toothbrush.
The toothbrush has a 30 second, and two minute automatic timer. So, it signals the brusher every 30 seconds, until the final 30 seconds, signalling a total of two minutes.
I sure wouldn't time my brushing with a standard toothbrush. So, the electric toothbrush gizmo really helps to spend sufficient time brushing our teeth.
Technology -- don't ya' just love all the conveniences of modern life? I sure do!

Hey LW,
I brush my upper teeth first-this discussion reminded me of a song that I learned from captain kangaroo when I was a kid I taught it to my son & I hope he teaches it to his kids-I thought I'd share b/c it's so cute (I hope I'm remembering it all correctly I was very young) here goes
Brush your teeth-
round & round-
circle small-
gums & all-
a small small toothbrush can stop tooth decay-
so keep your teeth healthy-
brush three times a day-
go round & round.
It would be totally cool if someone else remember that.

hmm... after reading this post, I was observing myself more consciously when I brushed my teeth.
I do the front first. Then open my mouth and do the lower jaw next. Back to front and then back again.
Then the top row of teeth. Same thing, back to front then back again.
heh heh... interesting. Never really noticed it before. Now I become so conscious.
There is no such thing as brush the upper last will drop debris on the lower jaw. When you rinse out your mouth, everything that is brushed out will get rinsed out as well. 8D

LOL good theory! I don't really have a fixed sequence it is more how the toothbrush goes into my mouth. LOL. However if I do brush the bottoms first I will go back to the bottoms after I have brushed the tops for a bit again. Likely unconsciously thinking the same as your theory. I will also rinse my mouth and brush again with just water quickly to make sure all the toothpaste is gone. :)

This is very interesting. This made me realise i always brush the upper teeth first befor brushing the lower the lower ones. I would probably have never considered this anything serious but your discussion just brought it up. That is really cool. i wonder why I do it though. May be it is better to work from top to bottom

But I guess if you give each part a thorough brushing, it should suffice. ;-)
