This morning I was sitting at my daycare table with the kids doing our art project for the day. I look over at the little 3 year old boy next to me and what do you think I saw?
He had 2 crayons in his nose and he was laughing! Okay I tried not to laugh cause he did look pretty silly, but I also wanted to let him know that crayons do not belong up your nose! So I had him pull them out and put them in the trash can and then we all had a talk about where crayons belong and what we are suppose to do with crayons.
Do you have any crayon stories about your kids?

I am always careful with my daughter so nothing like that happens. But my nephew that is a different story. One time we saw him chewing his crayon and my sister and I was scared stiff that he might get poisoned or what. And another time he was putting it in his ears because he watched it in a cartoon.

Eating the crayons probably won't poison him. I think most crayons are non-toxic nowadays. But I imagine that crayons taste pretty yucky.

No crayon stories, but when I was teaching a pre-k class one of the little boys took styrofoam peanuts and stuck them up his nose during nap time. When it was time to get up, he put his blanket away and came over to me. He didn't say anything to me, but his nose looked red so I sent him to the nurse. She found a styrofoam peanut in it. We then had the conversation with the whole class about putting things up your nose.

Ofcourse crayons are made out of wax.In the melting process itself some colours will be added.Put the melted wax into moulds until it is set. That's all I know about crayons. But it is a fun item for children and my sister also is very much fond of crayons and she thinks she is a verygood artist with a pack of crayons

By the sounds of some of the people who responded to this discussion I got off lucky. My children never stuck crayons or anything in their noses or ears. They did however stick the crayon into their mouths but didn't eat it. I would say the weirdest place they stuck a crayon at was their diaper. For some reason my son would place different things in to his diaper. I guess he was saving them for later or something.

Hi friend,
I think crayons are weak point of kids. I saw somany kids doing this type activities. Also also make them piece piece with their teeth.. Some one show it into fire.. I have on kids. I am a student. But these all i have seen from my relatives. Some times they colour my study notes and make them blur.. I don't beat the kids when they do it. Because they are kids and they want to study from that. May in future they become great artist. Sothat we want to encourage them. I do it. But my big brother is too serious and beat kids too much. I am not agree with him at all.
Now my big brother gave them colour pencils instead of crayons because of they putting it into mouth. But they do broke the pencil into pieces. At all time there will be atleast two kids in my house.. I use to play everytime with them.. Its too fun.....

my then one year old son came stampering into the living room one evening where i was sitting and had green liquid oozing out of his mouth. I ran over to him wondering what in the world had he gotten onto almost going into complete frantic mode wondering if i needed to call poison control or what then he smilled the biggest smile i ever saw and green was caked all over his teeth. i immediatly go thim to open his mouth to see if he still had anything in his mouth and sure enought there was a nice little chunk of green crayon. and he was happy as pie to be eating it LOL He is my youngest and my girls never had done this but he looked like a rabid animal with green froth comming out of his mouth.

Hey DCP,
It would have been hard for me not to chuckle at that sight-my son has always loved to draw & color but he's always been meticulous about putting his things away, his walker had little toy shapes that picked 'em up as he walked over them & he even played w/ one toy at a time & would put each one away when he was finished,I attributed that trait to his walker.Another thing not really on topic but I feel like it's worth adding-I bought him one of those little toy brooms & vacuum & cleaning just came naturally to him-he always been very neat.

HeHe. I got a good trip down memory lane with your story. Each of my four children did that exact same thing at one point when they were younger. I had one who also thought that crayons were quite tasty. I would go to the table and say have you been eating the crayons? "No Mom," he would say, and grin widely. His little white teeth would be covered with tiny bits of blue and green! Thank goodness they were non-toxic!

i have story crayon story about my niece, since i don't have kids. One time when i was still in college, my dog bite one pair of my black shoe which i always wear on school, and it rip on the toe, it looks awful. Im looking for something to wear since, my niece came to me ask what i have been doing. My niece i think about 4 years old then. I answered i was looking for a pair of shoes, and then i pointed to my ripped shoe, she says she can handle it and came back to me with a permanent marker. All ripped parts which changes color, she became shading to become color black again, but sadly the marker run out of ink, so she hurriedly to her sisters room and get a crayon, colored black, and colored my shoe. She is very smart, do you think?.by her effort, to will not put on to waste, i used the shoe, and it likes the same again. I love her.

Isn't it SO hard to not laugh at things like that when they happen. Kids are so precious.
My current crayon issue is the fact that my son calls them all red. We have worked on colors for some time, he has shown evidence of knowing his colors but right now everything is RED.
I'm ignoring it right now, trying not to think about the fact that my husband is color blind and it is likely my son will be too.

I have a little daycare child who says everything is green. And I know that he knows his colors, but for now he wants everything to be called green.

In our house crayons are like cockroaches. I can find them everywhere and they are scattered. My two kids do not care. They throw them in every nook and corner.
I see colorful crayons. I like them. But then I do not want to see them spread all over.
They have very good uses and help kids to concentrate better and be creative. I see them that way.
