We have trees and my garden. Need to keep edible producing plants away from car exhaust so the backyard is where to have the garden. We have a nice lawn and soon a water feature if we are lucky. Herbs are another wonderful thing to add and maybe some sweet smelling flowering bushes or plants. That would be about it.

My back yard is for the kids and dogs so nothing is growing out there except the cedar trees, hazelnut tree and grape vines. My front yard is landscaped with a wide variety of plants from roses to irises and water plants in my ponds. I also have a peach tree in the front.

thank you the yard will look a lot better when I can spend more time with it and can get it over the neglect of the last owners. It has been years since any real gardening took place here and it will take years to get it healthy again.

Rasberry Bushes - These are my Red Rasberry Bushes. They are of the ever harvest meaning I get berries non-stop from July till October as the bloom constantly.
I have 2 apple trees, a bunch of tomato plants, 2 zuchinni plants, a whole lot of different flowers, some strawberries, some corn, some peppers, some green beans and others. I do a LOT of gardenoing of vegetables and flowers. I read from these 2 web sites mostly. No magazines as these are free and easily available to read at any time. http://www.gardenguides.com/ http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/ http://www.thelilygarden.com/HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I love planting, but I have no backyard for planting. I have some small pots to grow some plants like green onions which are my favorite. I always use my vegetable scissors to cut my green onions when I cook noodles or some other food. They are very easy to grow in the pots and will still grow where they are cut.

We do not have a wide area for backyards too my friend. I do the same as you do plant onions in the pots. Just like you I love planting but I just don't have much time and energy to do it. LOL. We also have some vegetables that can easily grow without cultivating which are very healthy. Thank you and God bless!

I have asthma complicated by allergies. I can not be in a garden because I get very sick. My mom has a veggetable garden every year for me. I go over her house and get fresh veggie without having to be in a garden. I think it is great when people talk about their flowers or veggie gardens. When I was younger I had a small garden but now I can't be any where near a garden.

I am sorry to hear about your allergies. I too have several allergies like allergy with nickel and too much seafood intake. But my allergies are bearable and tolerable and controllable too. I would really hate it if I can't go to a garden. Try to seek for professional help where those allergies can be totally of or get rid of. Gardening is very relaxing if you have time. Thank you so much for the great response. God bless!

You have a great haven of vegetables my friend. I think instead of going to the market, I'll probably just drop b your place. LOL. I am just kidding. I love vegetables too from our backyards. Before we used to have several vegetables too specially when the uncle of the father (or our great grand uncle) lives with us. He is a great farmer and plants just like anything. Now we only have a few of green leafy veggies. I think I have to agree, gardening in the backyard is a great way to saving money too. God bless!

I'm not much for gardening any more. But I do have a tomato plant in a big pot with dreams of vine ripened tomatoes this summer. My partner does all the yard work, as I'm no longer able. We have a raspberry patch that keeps us in berries all summer and the freeze stocked for winter. The rest of our plants are flowers and shrubs.

Thanks to your partner for doing the gardening in your behalf. Tomatoes needed much care unlike others species or plants. Thank you so much for sharing the view of your garden. God bless!

Right now we dont really have a backyard since we are in a townhouse fourplex. I do have some elephant ears in front of our back windows. I also have a little garden in front of our walkway. I have some caladiums and ferns as well as a couple of vines growing on the lattace in front of the patio. I like the vine because it is called Moonflower since it blooms at night. It is a bigh white flower with a slight sweet scent. When we lived at a house I had a lot of flowers. Some were annuals that I had to plant every year and others were some that came up every year. It is usually hot and dry in Houston so a lot of flowers dont do well here.

I would love to see that Moonflower that blooms at night. I havent seen like that before. I think you have a different weather that's why you do the planting every year. Thanks for responding. God bless!

weeds & trees & a few weed trees. I can kill anything, but I do seem to keep trees alive better than anything else. I have 2 trees in the back that I planted, 2 that came with the house & then a bunch of weed trees between the fences. At least I don't have the apartment dwellers behind me able to easily look in my yard!

Plants can help us hide from those who keeps on looking. LOL. I think they too can hide us behind dust specially in our place, we can't live without trees too. Trees help us have nice cool air too. And they can shade us from the heat of the sun. Thanks for sharing your gardening experience. God bless!

I love to plant vegetables and fruit trees in our backyard like okra, camote tops, alugbati, papaya, some sugarcane, tomatoes, beans, squash and any other medicinal plants. We always get vegetables in our backyard every time i cook. It's very healthy especially when fresh. I don't prefer any magazines on how to raise backyard plants. I guess i have a 'green thumb' that's what they call it. All plants that i've planted grows.

You are lucky to have those greenthumbs my friend. My sister have it too. But I think I am a good care taker of plants. LOL. Some of what I plant do not grow unlike my sister who grows everything she plants just like you. I envy both of you. LOL. God bless!
