I think evenings are the right time to start a discussion as there is a chance for lot of peoples to see them and get more responses.I have put many of my discussions at that time and have got many responses for all of them. But when I put some in the afternon time, many peoples will be busy with their office or some kind of non-mylottian works so that they wont look into it.And by the time they come back in the evening,my discussion must have gone to the third or fourth page of the particular interest so that there is a least chance that someone will see it.So I think its better to start one in the evening or night so that many can see the discussions and respond to it..what do you think about this???

Hmmmm I don't think so... some people are living on the other side of the globe. I think, people on the same country can reply you immediately whenever you start new discussions/topics.
Nice topics.

Well many members of mylot are in different time zones, so each person is going to be on at a different time, so I wouldn't say there really is one exact time where you will get the most responses, however I have found that evening does seem to generate more people. Who knows?

Hello, ackars,i think it really depends. As there are so many members from different countries in mylot, you may never know when will be the time most members are here,as you are from asia, your evening time may be the sleeping time for those in the US as well.
Of course, you are right if you are talking about your region, people should have much free time re reply at the evening, just like me who need to work at the daytime.

I do not know about that. I got answers for all of my discussions. I am in Europe and right now it is my noon break. It is almost 1 o`clock. The mylotters in America just get up. It might have something to do with that the world turns. For you it is evening and the people in America start their day. For me in Europe it is not this important which time I place a discussion. If I would watch the time I sure would have for gotten the subject of the discussion, I would have to write it down first.

I feel since mylotians are from around the world of different nationalities who live in different time zones i really don't think it matters so much. Though if it is if you are from india then yes other mylotters who are busy during the day will get on mylot in evenings. Then they might post reply to your discussions then. Cheers:)

As MyLot is a 24/7 discussion... I have learned to keep a digital clock running so that I can respond correctly to a person, according to their specific time zone...
I have also learned how to "Bump" my discussions, if I think they are interesting enough, so that people who check my profile can see then whenever they happen to log on...
After you become experienced enough, you will automatically think of your respondants' time zone's and activities(he or she is at work, breakfast, lunch break or whatever) and it will seem uncanny, at first, but you do this in your daily life without thinking about it... you probably know where most of your friends are and what they most likely are doing, and the proper time to "catch them" as it were...
Now with all that being said... I am a nocturnal person who prefers to work at night and sleep during the day time... I am a single man with no kids, and since I have retired from formal employment, I can choose to use my hours as I see fit... If I want a certain MyLot friend to "see me" on the site at a particular time, I will PM the person(s), and make a mental note of the time zone they are in and when they are likely to be available... this will make a successful meeting possible...
Oddly, because of my current business activity, I am now up during the day, and I am truly desirous of a 64 ounce cup of coffee, and some chocolate espresso beans...
Damn! "Dracula Meets The Sun!".... LOL! You can't imagine what I'm going through!
Good discussion, Dude! Some free movies and Expert Village for you:

Yes it might be.. For example If You start Your discussion at 6pm EST than it will be good time for start . For people what are in time zone minus couple hours than EST , they can find Your discussion when they come online couple hours later. Also for people in time zone few hours after EST it would be ok since they will be already online on mylot.. :)
Afterall Your honest friends can find Your discussion whenever You've started it.. :)

You have a good point. But I think it also has to do with what time zone you are in. Since the mylot members are all over the world. When it is evening for you it is daytime for others on here. From my own personal experience I have found that my discussions do better first thing in the morning. I have started discussions at night and they normally only get 1 or 2 responses. Then come morning I end up getting 4 to 5 more responses.

Yes that is a good idea but then what evening are you talking about. I mean it depends on the country you are from. But I think it would be good to start at the times when people from countries with very high number of members would be able to respond. Those from USA, India, Phillipines for example.
