I dont like pets nor does my family. This is because my mother says that keeping animals at home is not hygeinic.
But, on mylot I see many people having pets becuase I can see many discussions on their pets.
What do you say. Isnt pets at home unhygeinic. They can bring lots of diseases to you.

Are you kidding me, cats are the cleanest animals around. My cats are constantly bathing and we don't even have a litter box in my house because they all go outside. As long as we keep them updated with their shots and stuff, we do not have to worry about anything.

Just be watchful of fleas and ticks. We just took our INDOOR cats to the vet to get treatment. I guess we tracked them in or something.

We have had all kinds of pets...mice, snakes, cats, dogs, fish. They have never brought any diseases to us. I think we have actually tracked in some diseases to them on our shoes.
Pets aren't necessarily unhygienic. If you don't take care of them, then THAT can cause problems. The same thing can also be said of human beings.
If I choose to take on a pet, then I don't mind taking care of them since they depend on me for care.

Wow! having mice and snakes as pets. Heard for the first time. You truly said that pets we have becomes our duty and its our responsibility to keep them clean. And if they are clean, surely they are hygeinic and wont bring any disease. Thanks for the response!

Well my pets have never gotten me sick. I think pets do a lot more good for people than they do harm. Having a pet can teach people responsibility. Pets can also help you relax and help you to feel less lonely if you have trouble making friends. There have also been studies shown that pets can help lower your blood pressure and decrease depression.

Well stress can be one thing that contributes to high blood pressure. Having pets can reduce your stress levels therefore they might be able to help lower blood pressure. I've never had high blood pressure, so I can't say from personal experience if they really help with that, but I do know that my pets help lower my stress levels. Bonding with my pets and seeing how much they adore me and want to be with me makes me feel really happy and they can really cheer me up when I'm feeling sad or depressed.

I think it depends on how you take care of them. For instance... If you have cats and don't clean their litter box out regularly, that is unhygenic. If you don't keep the fleas under control, that is unhygenic. You need to take care of your pets and keep them clean and healthy so the potential for disease is minimal. My family has always had pets in the house with us. Dogs, cats, and fish. We have never caught any diseases from them.
