Would it give you an edge, financially at least, to work while you study?

My college requires that all students work in a campus job at least 10 hours a week. Many work 15 or more or hold a second job off campus. The pay is very low (starting around $3 per hour), but that is because most of our work goes to paying our tuition.
Working is probably detrimental to your studies, though you might be able to afford tutors for subjects you're not as good at. Still very few students (and their parents) can afford to get through college without working.

Where are you located? I haven't heard of colleges compelling students to work before. I assume that working has been detrimental to your studies. If so, are there any solutions to it? Would you not still balance school and work no matter how tried managing your time evenly?

I see. But it's good to know that your work has something to do with your course. Keep it up. I commend you for it.

Berea College in Kentucky is one of a few work/study colleges in the USA. All of the students are from low-income families, and might not otherwise be able to afford college. We work in exchange for our full-tuition scholarships. Most of us only pay a small percentage of our room and board.
While it can be hard to balance work and school, we learn to make it work, and often our work experience is related to our majors and is very helpful in applying for jobs after graduation. Also, our employers are sensitive to our needs as students and the college sets aside days where classes and non-essential labor is canceled for extra study time before mid-terms.

True, web works. And it's good that students have the chance to exploit the web not only for study but for work as well. Keep it up.
