I was doing laundry today and I found a bunch of clean clothes in the hamper!

This has happened before.
Apparently, my children take out a few clothes while they are decided what to wear, and then they find that is too much trouble to put the clothes that they do not choose back where they belong. The throw the clean clothes in the hamper. Sometimes it's left laying around their room til I make them clean their room, THEN they get tossed in the hamper.
I was talking to a friend a few weeks ago and she told me that her child does the same thing.
Has this ever happened to you?

No, this deosn't happen at my house. Around my house if it looks clean and it is put back in the hamper, it means that one of the cats decided that the clean laundry was a kitty bed. We try not to go out in public completely covered in cat hair. LOL.

Hi my teen is always putting clean clothes in the wash pile. I can go in his room and there are clothes all over the floor, who knows whats clean or dirty so I wash it again. I am sure I do double the laudry I need to just for this reason.

This actually happens to us a lot and it's as much our fault as our daughters. If we don't get around to putting the clothes away right away (which happens often since we both are working) they will sometimes get mixed with the dirty clothes.

All the time. My son is now 14 and when he starts bringing clothes out of his room, he gets to wash them. Most of the time he changes in our bathroom so if they are there I wash them. He doesn't think much of sitting and folding, but oh well, neither do I. On top of wasting utilities.

This happens both with my son and hubby lol. Just before my husband left for overseas trip we were trying to find his clean work shirts and low and behold I found a bunch of clean ones at the bottom of our landry hamper (they were neatly folded too LOL) I had to wash them all over again :(

I don't have my own kids but I know I'll do that. I'll just throw my clothes around and not care. Its my room and no one else ever touches it or anything. So its like, once a month when I do clean it, I find all the clean clothes and rejoice! xD

Years ago when my girls were about 11 or 12 I was doing the laundry and suddenly it seem like I was having more than usual when I notided that the girls had changed clothes about 3 times during one wash load. That was the time I told them if they liked to change clothes so often they could do their own. I never did wash their colthes after that. They weren't exactly thrilled with the idea but I was working and figured they needed to learn to take care of themselves.

If I were working outside of my home, I would probably be less tolerant too.

Do you think you have problems? My younger son was still doing that when he was in his twenties and living at home. I'd see all his clothes on the floor and in my opinion, if they are on the floor, they need to be washed. So when he got home from work, he'd have his clothes doubly cleaned. Also he did put clothes in the laundry when they were fresh bought.

LOL! Welcome to the head of the class of Motherhood 101! My kids did that too. They never liked to put their clothes away. Couple that with the fact that they had a problem finding the dirty clothes hamper, you have a mess. I got to the point of not washing any clothes that were not in the hamper. Then they could not figure out why they had no clothes to wear. I don't know how many times I washed clean clothes! When I washed I sometimes dumped all their newly washed clothes on their beds and took away the hamper. Then they just threw everything on the floor. Then I made them wash and put away their own clothes.

Sometimes I wash it again. Sometimes if it look like it hasn't been soiled by the dirty clothes. I'll take it out and put it back in their room to be put away. I do make them "help" with laundry, regardless of whether or not I find clean clothes in the hamper. I just don't make them do it from start to finish.
Sometimes I will scold them about it, if they are around and sometimes I won't. Usually if they are around they hear about it.

This is normal in my home. Any clothes are are out from the wardrobe goes to the washer automatically after a few days. However, the washed clothes will not return to the wardrobe after a week. So anyone who needs the clothes will have to be on the alert - never leave it outside the wardrobe unless one wears it without being pressed. That's how my mum manages us. lol.

This is one of my pet hates and I lose my cool when my kids keep doing this! I tell them apart from the fact that we have taken the time and trouble to wash, dry and iron their clothes before putting them away the least they can do is not to give us more work by having to do it all again! I am sorry you are having this problem too but part of me is so pleased I am not alone! xxx

I do not have any children, but my boyfriend likes to leave his clothes all over the place. I come home and his socks are in the computer room and his shirt is usually flung on the floor or couch. This is a regular occurance and no matter what I say he keeps doing it. It is very annoying and disgusting in my opinion. Good luck with your children. I hope you find a solution to your problem.

Yup, got sick of this happening, so one day, I told my son he was responsible for his own laundry, he then had to wash and fold and put away his stuff.
When he was responsible, clean clothing did not get washed.

Oh yes! I have found clean clothes that have been folded and put in the hamper after she has decided what to wear. Or she will leave the clothes on the floor until I tell her to clean her room and she then takes all of the clothes and just dumps them in the hamper. It drives me insane!

Yes, this has happened to me before...when they reached the age where they were smart enough to think of this...I started teaching them how to do their own laundry....I invested in individual hampers and let them become responsible for their own clothes...trust me...it works....LOL

Mine really arent that old and they already go through cloths. They will rip through their drwers until they find whatever it is that they want and if anything falls out of the drawers it doesnt get picked up.This is a major issue becasue i acually have our dressers in the laundry room. It makes it for easy access and easy put away but when the dirty cloths get brought into the laundry room they dont always find the hamper and end up on the floor so when the girls start rumaging through drawers and knock clean cloths out they get messed up with the dirty ones and if they do pick them up then i find dirty cloths in the drawers as well as clean cloths going into the wash. I am sure that when they get older it wont get ay better. LOL

Apparently when I tell my kids it is time to clean up their rooms any clothing item they changed out of or knocked off a hanger is supposed to go to the laundry! It drives me crazy. My mother was just visiting and complained about the mounds of dirty laundry at my house. I quickly informed her that she never had three kids in the house at one time that had a handicap when it came to hanging clothes back up!
