I am supposed to buy my daughter "white bermuda shorts" for an upcoming even. I had a picture in my head of what I thought those were. I went to a few stores and saw shorts labelled as Bermuda shorts and they were not what I had imagined. Then I went online and did a search. Those were not exactly what I had pictured either. I imagined bermuda shorts to be pleated and come down to just above the knee. What, in your mind, are Bermuda shorts?

You are closer to Bermuda than any of us and you don't know what a Bermuda short is? lol. They are well, like from Bermuda, and have been around for at least 50 years. You remember hot pants from the 70's don't you? Bermuda shorts are a little longer and hug the leg and sometimes come in stripes. Now don't confuse them with clam diggers, because they go down to the ankle and have slits on the sides at the bottoms. If this doesn't help, I would get in my yacht if I were you and head over to Bermuda for the weekend and check out what the girls are wearing. Well, hope I helped you out, have a nice trip and send us a postcard...lol.

Thank you. They do say a picture is worth a thousand words. lol That is very close to the look of what I ended up buying for her. They weren't labled as bermuda's but that's what she liked and fit her best. She tried a few different styles.

The shorts I found and those that were label classic, come to the knee exactly. Pleats were never part of the bermuda shorts in my family. Clamdiggers, capris, gauchos...all are great shorts and I suggest you see and maybe ask what other mothers may be buying. Good luck.

I think they are any type of shorts that go as far as the knee or just above it. Some of them are fitting and some of them are lose fitting. Some have pleats some are just plain with pockets, some with patterns etc. I like them, they are comfy!

I thought bermuda shorts looked like Loose ones which went upto the knee. I did not picture them so close fitting as in that picture.

I always thought bermuda shorts were the same thing basically as capri's or clamdiggers, shorts that hit around the knee. So basically longer shorts! I like them though, that way no one see's my chubby thighs. lol! Good luck with your white bermuda shorts search, I know Old Navy usually carries them!

Bermuda shorts are just shorts that, like you said...come just above the knee.
I think that they had to give a name just like everything else out there.
They are just regular shorts, and material, that come just above the knee! :D

To me I pictured close to the same thing as you, I think. They are longer than boxer shorts, almost to the knee, but kind of look the same. Minus the pee whole of course, LOL.

My husband's grandmother wears them a lot. They are right at the knee and kinda hug to the leg.

If they're real I never no clue.
Although they'd make you invisible if I said what they did, it would be interesting but I honestly don't know what else to say.
Never come back once ya put them one?

They used to use the term "bermuda shorts" a long time ago. They were very popular in the 50's and 60's. I dont recall them being pleated but they were considered longer than other shorts. I do believe they were above the knee.

I always thought Bermuda shorts were the just above the knee type of shorts aand not snug fitting. But then I am not shorts expert at all...I seldom wear them myself and most everyone I know does not wear shorts at all.

In my mind, Bermuda shorts would be longer shorts with looser legs that taper down at the end to tighten slightly just above the knee....I must admit that I have never really thought about what they look like before...
