What's your favorite cancelled TV show?

So many great shows are cancelled by network executives before they reach their stride. Perhpas a show has a slow start, or maybe there wan't good advetising, or worst, it was in a crumby time slot (9pm on Friday seems to be a pretty rought one). However, you watched that she and beofre it could really get going, and much to your dissapointment, it was cancled, never to be seen again (unless by luck it comes out on DVD). What was your favorite show that was cancled before it's time. I think my favorite was "Firefly", it was a sci-fi western that was show on Fox. This poor show, while fantastic, never had a chance, it was given a hhorrid time slot, and the episodes where show out of order, making it really difficult to understand at first. Thankfully you can get the first and only season on DVD, and there was even a movie spin off "Serenity". What about you?

Then why did you bother responding. It really irks me when people respond to discussions that they have no meaningful response to give other than "I would not like to comment" or "I don't have an answer". If you didn't want to comment or don't have an answer than don't respond. It is responses like this that are ruining mylot. It is obvious that you are only here to make money, so you are responding to any and all discussions when you don't really care about the topic. Yes, it is nice to earn a little bit of money for our responses, but a majority of those on mylot actually care about what others have to say and are not nessicarily here for the money.

I really liked Growing Up Gotti...I don't think they even play the re-runs on tv anymore, and it makes me really sad because it's not on dvd either.

Give it time, it will be on DVD soon. In fact you might want to check the A&E website, chances are they are or will be selling it from their directly.

Mine would have to be "What about Brian". I thought it was a great show, but they only lasted 2 seasons. I am not quite sure why they were cancelled. But I do miss the show.

Three shows come to mind when I think of my favorited cancelled tv shows: 1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- Not so much the networks who cancelled this one (they played a part) but it was the actors who didn't want to continue. 2. Carnivale -- This was a fantastic series on HBO. It didn't get the ratings unfortunetly so they killed it at the end of the 2nd season leaving a huge cliffhanger. 3. Deadwood -- Another HBO series that met the axe. There will be 4 2 hour long movies they will show to tie things up, so that isn't quite so bad as the way they killed Carnivale. Minnie Mouse is HOT! filmbuff

I loved Carnivale too. Plenty people watched it, but what I heard was not enough people got online to talk about it..or give feedback. I suppose we're lucky it lasted two seasons. Another contributing factoid why it got the ax was that the money. Did you know that the credits cost more than the actual filming and making of the show did? Plus..some random guy popped up and tried to sue HBO for stealing his idea from his book..though the judge discounted it because his book really did have nothing to do with the plot of the show. There is a small twinkle of hope though, the original creator of the show, the guy that came up with the idea..said that there's a possibility that a book might come out in a few years to finish the story. That'd be great..but I got really frustrated when it ended, since Carnivale had quickly become my all time favorite show, was beautifully written and filmed, wonderfully detailed..original, interesting..and it had just begun to get good. "Sophie's the exception to the rule as the Omega? She bought back her father? Zomg what happened?!!" That was my reaction when the second season ended..and it was really disappointing when I heard that Carnivale would not be coming back for a third season. I liked Buffy, though I think it got rather tired toward the end..like it's spin off, Angel. Loved them both eventually, and they lasted for quite a many seasons..but they ended well. Deadwood..I would've loved to watch it, but I never really got to. It looked as interesting as Carnivale did..but that's probably just my love of period pieces that aren't terribly overdone speaking..lol.

I really haven't watched much TV in the past few years, and I only catch shows when they come out on DVD. But I agree about it being a bummer that "Firefly" only made it one season. I think there was so much more that they could have done with that show, and I think it could have been successful. I have heard that it had a really bad time slot when it was first on TV, and that is probably a big part of the problem.

I have 2 that are tied. Farscape and Firefly. I love both of those shows. They are both so original and entertaining. I wish they were still being made.

I know this show is way old, but I still love it. So my favorite cancelled show is 'My So-Called Life.' It came out when I was 13, and I really remember identifying with the characters. I still love it, and I get really excited when mtv or noggin does reruns.

surface and invasion were my favorites - now i am in a group that is trying to get surface back and we need others to sign petition too - the website is savesurface.com and you can sign petition and then clik on nimrod project to see what is being done to bring back this very popular show that nbc decided to cancel. i also loved invasion and there is a website for that one too, dont know what we have to do to try and bring it back
