Hello all,
It's starting to sizzle, temperature wise, where I live. We've been in the low 90s all week. And, when it gets hot, we need more fluids.
So, what do you drink throughout the day? Soda or pop, sweet iced tea, or unsweetened sun tea? Water? Coffee or tea? What's your beverage of choice?

Weather is largely about the same in Singapore all year round, my lady.
For me, I will normally start off with a hot beverage in the morning. Could be coffee or milo.
I will drink plain water during the day. At night, I will have a pot or 2 of green tea.
That's how simple my life is.

Yea, charms answered it for me. It is some energy beverage of sort. Most places have Milo or equivalent. It may be another brand or another product altogether but most cultures have something that hold its place.

I start off just about everyday with a redbull or three to get the blood pumping.
Then I usually drink Coca-cola, or Mountain Dew through out the rest of the day. Sometimes I will fill a plastic glass half-way with coke and put it in the freezer. It's a nice icy treat in a fews hours. I do the same with a half-drunk bottle of Mountain Dew before bed.
When I'm outside working in the yard, playing golf or anything else that is half-way streneous in the sun and heat; I switch to Propel fitness water, or Gatorade. The same things that I drink during a workout or exercise session.

I'm kind've surprised to be the first soda drinker. There seems to be so many of us out there. Probably not the healthiest thing to drink but it taste good and the caffeine is nice.
Red bull is great I highly recommend it. Filled with as much caffeine as a cup of coffee and loaded with B vitamens while still tasting good.

I would be remiss in my spokesmenlike duties if I did not point out there is a sugar-free version of Redbull. My mother (no joke) drinks it, for the nice shot of mental clarity that it provides.
Studies have also shown that drinking one can of sugarfree Redbull in the morning kicks starts the metabolism and actually helps people lose weight.

I drink lots of water and prevent gassy drinks such as soda, coca cola, pepsi and sweetened drinks. My choice of beverage is still water.

Everybody needs water to survive, I drank 1 liter of water every night during army days and in the end, I lost weight from 70kg to 60kg. In addition, we do lots of exercise, solely depend on drinking water is insufficient.

Interesting Whyaskq.
I have heard that where/how we subject ourselves to cold is an aid/hindrance to Chi flow. For example, my acupuncturist is always advising me to end my showers with a blast of cold water. I can easily do this in the warm months, but just can't bring myself to follow his advice in the winter. Burrrrr!
He also advises tepid, or room temperature drinking water. Best I have done in following that advice is to let me morning green tea cool, to just about room temperature.
Thanks for sharing this interesting info.

Icy cold drink is said to affect the flow of qi (energy) in the body. Traditional Chinese Medicine discourages drinking iced water. Though I have stopped drinking iced water, I too drink it occasionally to charge myself. As an alternative, I take to eating ice.

Hello Muscare,
Wow, it's only 57 degrees in Australia? I'm presuming you're using fahrenheit as opposed to celcius?
I would have thought it would be warmer Down Under. Although, I guess it is winter for you huh? Do you live coastally, or inland? And, is there much of a temperature range in Australia?
Thanks for sharing.

Yes, that is 14 degrees celcius, and I am living inland. There is a fair range, for example in the northern state of Australia, the temp, although winter is 30 degrees celcius, or 86 F. In summer though, it gets up into the high 30's and low 40's celcius, which is over 100. At this moment, a little of that warmth would be nice, lol!

I prefer unsweetened iced sun tea and iced coffee but mainly water on hot days. I have been steering clear of soda mostly because it is not good for me and I want to lose weight.

Hello LadySavant,
Do you also find that sun tea seems to be more flavorful that hot water tea?
And yeah, soda really packs on the calories.
Good luck with your weight-loss effort. Hopefully, you'll be in an itsy-bitsy, teeney-weeney, yellow poka-dot bikini, in no time!

Thank you for the welcome and the luck. =)
I am not sure that sun tea is more flavorful but it is definitely a different flavor from hot water teas. I enjoy them both but when it is really hot its nice to have something to help you cool down.

Hello Krislouiebaby,
Your little one sure looks like a happy baby!
I have never heard of 'pandesal'. So, that's a new one for me. Hmmm, I'm not sure that I would want to eat fish for breakfast. But hey, that's the beautiful thing about different cultures. We learn and share our different cultural tastes. So, thanks for enlightening us all about Pandesal.

coffee and tea are both duretic, it means that for each cup you drink you should drink a cup of water to replace the fluids you are going to lose.
Pop makes you fat and diabetic, diet pop has aspartame, which is the worse thing you could put into your body... if you think about it, we don't have much of a choice really. So it is water for me, but if I am really thirsty I do drink iced tea mixed with carbonated water and a bit of lemon.

Hello 123bart,
Mmmm, iced tea with carbonated water & lemon sounds great. One of my favorite combo beverages is cranberry juice & club soda with lime. I find that to be one of the most thirst quenching drinks for me.
Thanks for sharing, and for the reminders about the dangers of Aspartame. Yes, it is nasty stuff.

Usually I'd just drink plain iced water. It quenches my thirst really quickly and helps me to cool down on a warm day.
But there are times when I really enjoy ice cold fruit juices as well. These must be freshly made because then it'll taste really good.
I also enjoy ice cold and warm green tea. Ice cold green tea I'd drink on a warm day and warm green tea on a cold day.
Sometimes, I'd drink Chinese tea or some herbal tea after a meal. This happens when the weather is cold and we wish to keep warm or when we are having a meal at a Chinese restaurant or at some cafe.

I used to drink glass after glass of Tang! I would drink between 5-7 a day! Now I will only have 1 glass of tang, if any at all. I haven't had any in over a week. I drink water all day now. And it has helped me lose weight! So I recommend water! lol

Hello LilyoftheThorns,
Funny you should bring up Tang. A few weeks ago Hubby bought a bottle, as kind of a nostalgia thing. It was very popular to drink when we were kids. He made one glass, and neither of us has touched it since.
So, quitting the tang is helping your waisteline, eh? That's good to know. I'll just let that Tang sit on the pantry shelf.
Thanks for sharing.

I don't know if JUS cutting tang is the reason I'm losing weight, but I know it helps. I didn't just cut the tang, I started eating better/less through out the day too, so that def. help :) And of course drinking the water helped me too.

I drink a combination if milk, orange juice, water and soda. In my home, I keep milk, orange juice and water. I purchase soda for our home less frequently. My children play sports, so we buy gatorade and water for the coolers on the weekends. I used to drink gatorade on the weeknds regularly, but I decided that I don't need the extra calories from that, so when I'm trying to hydrate, I stick to water. I have begun drinking flavored water recently. I just got tired of the taste (or lack of taste) from regular water. I have bought vitamin water and also must plain flavored water, for some variety.

Hello MrSteve,
Welcome to MyLot. I hope you enjoy your time here.
Yup, working outdoors all day necessitates a conscious effort to stay hydrated. Hubby is a construction super, so he always brings a huge jug of iced water to the jobsite, for himself and the guys. Oh, and thanks for the tip about Gatoraid. I don't drink it myself, too sweet for my tastes.
Thanks for sharing.

I live in scorching hot Florida, I try to just drink water all day at work (construction) but I drink sweet tea if I can manage to plan ahead and bring a jug to work. Gatorade and drinks like that aren't really all that good for you, despite what Michael Jordan will tell you.

I drink lots of water. That's my nuber one drink every day plus iced cold coke, iced tea or my own mix of drinks. As long as it's iced since it's really hot here in the Philippines. But I also drink Milo or coffee in the morning once in a while.
By the way, I also have a new favorite drink for breakfast and before going to sleep. Carabao's Milk. It really taste good compared to fresh milk that's in tetra packs, etc.

Hello Marababe,
Wow, this thread is just jammed with new information for me. OK, so another Milo drinker. Thanks to Charms & Wizzy, I now know what Milo is. But, I haven't a clue about Carabao's Milk. Would you care to share what exactly it is?
Thanks for sharing. And, I look forward to learning about Carabao's Milk.

Mainly water lately due to pregnancy, and 40 days or less til delivery. Due Aug 1,'07 or sooner. Drinking water is also a must lately due to low to normal amniotic fluid level readings during sonogram readings. So yes mainly water, but I do drink juice, sweet honey tea, an very rarely diet 7up.

Welcome to MyLot. And, resounding hearty contrat's on your soon to arrive bundle of joy.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that all that water you're drinking translates to an increased level of amniotic fluid. May you have an short, and easy labor.

I will usually drink mostly tap water. I also drink a cup of coffee in the morning and maybe another cup later in the day or sometimes hot tea. Once in a while I will drink soda, but that never quenches my thirst. Iced tea is ok, but I like lemonade better. I usually don't add sugar to my drinks anymore nor do I use cream in my coffee or tea. I use milk in the morning for my cereal and seldom drink it during the day by itself. Well, maybe some chocolate milk now and then...lol.

Hello Sigma,
Ya know, as soon as I hit the "submit" button on this question, I realized that I'd forgotten to add lemon or limeaid. Both are very thirst quenching drinks.
Speaking of quenching, or not -- soda never quenches my thirst. Glad to know that I'm not the only one.
Like you I prefer my tea black. Occassionally, if I'm feeling decadent, I'll add a big spoonful of honey to my hot tea -- mmmmm!
Thanks for sharing.

Hello Kading,
First, let me welcome you to MyLot. I hope you enjoy your time here.
Your reply reminds me of a whacky story from my youth. When I was 10 years old, a neighborhood friend used to drink Coca-Cola from the time he got up in the morning. After returning from the dentist, and being told that soda was bad for the teeth, my friend and I decided to perform an experiment.
His younger brother had just lost a baby tooth. We asked his Mother if we could use the tooth in an experiment. We placed the tooth in a glass of Coca-Cola. By morning the entire tooth was gone. No discernable fragments -- completely eaten away.
Suffice it to say, he stopped drinking Coca-Cola that morning! And, I've never allowed myself to develop a taste for it. I'll stick with water.
Thanks for your response.
