One of my friends and I make it a special point to go out together once a month for coffee. We've been doing this for years and enjoy our special time together. Does anyone else have a standing date like this that they enjoy?

I think that's a wonderful idea...I love the company of one woman..she is so vibrant and lively..that's why it stunned me when she told me years ago, that she was my mother's age..Now my mother was the very essence of gloom and doom--I used to drop by this woman's apt...uh, unexpected which must have exasperated her no end--but when my mother was alive I just needed someone positive in my life -- I was my mom's caregiver thing with my mom--but I just needed that spark of vibrant alive energy that this woman had to perk me up...I no longer just drop in anymore..have the sense to call ahead of time--LOL--but then I'm not living in a negative situation anymore....But I think the idea of a "date" with a friend for a cup of coffee once a month is terrific...think I'll call her and suggest the idea to her--great idea!! Of course wouldn't mind doing that with my other friend..but uh, she lives in CA..and then there's this other friend I wouldn't mind having a cup of coffee with--mmmm...lives in Florida and is vainly trying to catch up with me..LOL

Is she vainly trying or barely trying? The wonderful thing about the internet is the friends you can make all over the world. The awful thing about the internet is knowing you might never meet them face to face!

Oh yes susie. Why, I just have a lovely lunch date with my best friend yesterday. We ate at a Japanese Restaurant and practically gulped down our food. Afterwards, we went ahead and ordered Island Blend coffee. We spent 3 hours talking non-stop. Its always like this for both of us. We always make sure to meet once a week to update and gossip too. My other guy best friend is a brand new daddy. So he wasn't able to join our weekly date yet.

Sounds like fun. I'll bet you get a lot of pictures to look at when he joins you again. I'll bet after three hours of talking you can't even remember what you talked about!

I have with 4 of my cousins. We get together on each of our birthdays for lunch, then we usually end up going shopping, or spend a couple hours in the restaurant talking. It gives us a chance to catch up on what we are all doing and what our kids are doing. I really enjoy the special time we have together. It keeps us close, because we are so busy with our own families, we don't get to spend much time together.

I know what you mean. Our busy schedules seem to get in the way of keeping up relationships. WE just have to make time don't we?

Absolutely! I think a lot of relationships/marriages would be saved if they were given special treatment like a date--no matter how long you have been together. Thanks for the reply.
