We have two home to choose from, approximately the same price. One is a bigger house and a smaller yard. The other is a smaller house and a much bigger yard. The one with the bigger house also has a horrible contract we would have to sign. I'm leaning towards the smaller house with the bigger yard and not so horrid contract. What do you think?

I would go for the bigger yard. I love having a huge yard but my house is of decent size. The bigger yard is so much more fun in the summer and winter, but is a pain in the butt to cut the grass during the summer. xD

Well, the bigger one is only about an acre. And, I don't cut the grass anyway, my boy-friend does. :D I'm leaning towards the bigger yard, too. We can build onto the house, but we can't get a bigger yard, there is no land to buy at the other house.

The contracts scares me off and I hope the smaller house is still yet big enough for you to live in. The yard is worth a good bit and the taxes might be an issue except the contract again is scarey. Good luck in your decision. You don't mention whether you are buying or renting.

I'm sorry. I've talked about it so much to so many people, I guess I assumed everyone knew we are looking to buy. LOL The smaller house is big enough for us. It's also 30 years younger. It still needs some work, but there is room to add on. The other house has no room to add on whatsoever. The yard is so small there is no where to add onto the house if we wanted to.

Then, smaller house and bigger yard and more possibilities and better contract. Good luck and thanks for responding back to me.

Bigger yards *always* win in my world. You will be much, much happier with a bigger yard. And you can always add on!

That's what I'm leaning towards as well. I'm already thinking of ways to add onto this house to make it uniquely ours.

Other then the size of the house the contract issue also has to take into serious consideration as well.
Talking about size of the house,it's depends on individual.
If you have big family i would say buying the bigger house is the best idea. But if you don't have too many people in your family and you like bigger yard so smaller house but bigger yard is perfect choice.:)
