There is always a great debate on plastic surgery. Some people defend it saying that if they feel better with bigger breasts or straighter skin, why not doing so. Others consider that it's shallow to think like that, and prefer natural things.
I personally think that plastic surgery can be nice and useful, specially with those people who really have a mental problem due to a physical feature they're obsessed with, like the nose or flat chest.
What do you think about plastic surgery? are your in favor or agasint it? and why?

I don't agree to have the plastic surgery. Some people haven't nothing wrong with them, but they always want to be perfect and do unnecessary plastic surgery. I have to say that it's dangerous and painful.
Not all the plastic surgery can be successful. Michael Jackson is a good example. If it's not necessary, never try the plastic surgery.

Michael jackson is not a good example, he is a freak, he is mental, and 99 percent of the people who go through a surery are not like him. If you talk about him when talking about this topic, one might think he is the typical case, and he is not.

Not Michael Jackson, no he isn't a good example.
How about Joan Rivers?
Yeah not a good example either.
I think it's a personal choice, but again, it can't help if the person has mental problems. If it's just to enhance a feature you're unhappy with, sure, go ahead and have it done, but it can't fix on the outside what's broken inside.

I have nothing really against plastic surgery if it is a way of making some people feel better and be happier with themselves that I would say for it! I even think of having one on myself sometimes to get rid of those things that comes after giving birth such as stretch marks and stubborn fats. But when it comes down to it, I am just not ready at this moment and age. Maybe in a few years time and after I have exhausted all the exercises and creams. he he he!

I am partly in favor and partly against it. We all have our own hidden vanity. I had once read a local celebrity who confessed going under the knife for countless of times. She had all kind of surgeries done from head to toe. She even bravely showed her old picture and I was astounded by the big differences. Its like she had completely wiped off her true identity and come up with a new one. I'm not one in agreement with what she did. Its obsession already.
I haven't had any surgery done yet but who knows, maybe in the next 10 years, I might find myself going for a little face lift or sapping out my wrinkles. For as long as everything are kept to a minimal treatment, I wouldn't mind it at all.

To me plastic surgery is only necessary when there is a need for it. This is for example, if you are involved in an accident or a fire victim and need reconstructive surgery. This is justify to enable the victim to be able to live life at least normally and be able to face the mainstream society with their disfigurement. However, if this surgery is solely for the purpose of vanity, I rightly detest it. GOD has made you what you are, why is there a need to spend thousand of dollars just to make one feel good. I don't think people who went for these surgeries ever feel satisfied with what has been done. I am sure they will be back under the knife for more.....

well i think there are many different cases. There are people that get really addicted to plastic surgery, but many others wont. It's essential that the doctor makes sure that the person who goes for the surgery is both physically and mentally ready and mature enough for making such step. Otherwise, the doctor should refuse to do the surgery.

If one has a mental problem due to a physical feature they're obsessed with, as you say, surgery won't fix it. Plastic surgery cannot fix mental problems. If one is obsessed with a body part to the point of mental illness they need a shrink not a surgeon.
If you are however mentally well and you don't like that you're boobs hang down to your belly button and you know it won't fix whatever is wrong with your self esteem, it'll just fix your boobs getting caught in the belt, well then I say why not.

It cannot fix mental problems by itself, but in certain (only certain) cases it can help, so that's why i say let's not say this is bad on itself because i think it's not.

I don't think it could ever fix mental problems, ever. Never. Let's say the woman has a 10 foot nose, and she's depressed about it, sure get a nose job and feel better. But just changing a feature that's off a little won't fix anything in my opinion. Not if you're mentally off.
If one is healthy, mentally, yes then why not. But in you're post you're specifically mentioning mental problems, and trust me, nothing you do on the outside will fix the hell of a mental problem inside. It might perk you up for a while so you forget your mental problems, but it will never cure them.

I think that if a person is unhappy with a certain part of their physical appearance then getting surgery isnt a big deal PROVIDED IMO you do your research etc etc....I researched for YRS before actually getting my boobjob done....but I did get implants a few yrs back and I am thrilled to this day about them actually....If I didnt tell you they were fake you'd never know, they make my body more proportioned (which is so nice for a change LOL) and I just feel a ton better since getting them done...
I think what I have issues with is these ppl who get numerous procedures done and actually become addicted to it AND/OR ppl who get complete overhauls done to look like someone else (ie:their fav celebrity for example)....Otherwise though, if its done for the RIGHT REASONS, in a sensible fashion and not on a whim etc then I see nothing wrong with it at all...

Well I think that in it's original form - it is a great idea. Plastic surgery was developed at first to help those with dreadful injuries and burns, and it is unvaluable to rebuld the lives of people injured in fires, car accidents etc. However, nowadays it seems mostly to be used by people for cosmetic purposes. Personally I would never have it done - I am far too much of a coward to undergo anaesthesia and surgery for no medical reason. However, I guesas at the end of the day, if people can afford to pay for it, then it's their body and their decision, so I wouldn't ban it - it is personal choice.

It is a personal choice, exactly. I don't say that it is bad on itself because i don't think so. It's bad when a person doesn't do reasonable things, but this surgery can do a lot of good too.

I am neither pro or against it. I can see the potential of plastic surgery in terms of restoring your physical damage caused by accidents and everything. I am not in favor of those that are done just becuase it would enhance what is already given to them by nature. But I do not discourage them if it would make them feel better. For me cosmetic improvement thru plastic surgery is just a waste of time and effort but in restorative purposes it is a useful and I recommend it.

Why do you think that it's a waste of time and effor for cosmetic improvement if someone is not happy with his or her appearance? don't you think that it would be good in those cases?

Plastic surgery is not for everybody. Personally, I won't let myself undergo any procedure for the purpose of enhancement because I'm afraid to go under the knife. I'd rather put on age defying cream and take vitamins if I feel I need to do something about a wrinkled face than have it snipped or cut and stitched *ouch*. Anyways, for some people, it means a lot to them to continuously enhance their beauty. The problem is, when it gets out of hand and when they continuously find imperfections that need fixing. Others have become disfigured and unrecognizable because of the numerous procedures that they underwent. These people just don't know where to draw the line. I believe that it's more on the inside that needs fixing, and a psychological makeover is more appropriate in this matter.

Yes, it's not for everyone...there are as many cases as people...so each case must be considered individually. In some cases surgery is a good idea, in others, only a help, in others, a bad idea.

changing the outside doesnt fix the inside and since self esteem and such are inside issues once that ne thing is fixed another "problem" wil surface I dont agree with plastic surgery unless it is needed after a horrific event such as major burns or such

So you only agree with repairing surgery, not with the one you deliberately go through to improve your looks then right? thanks for the reply.

Plastic surgery is great for fixing up damage and aging. However, it loses its point and becomes detrimental when people seek it in order to improve their self esteem.
Everyone is different and it should stay that way. You cant have people all looking the same.

In our society today almost all who had plastic surgery admits that they had gone through the knife without hesitation because it is already acceptable to the public. Some people sees plastic surgery as a form of a booster in their personality that adds to their self confidence. But other conservative sees it as a disrespect to what God had given them. For me, if it will make you happy then do it.. you must have a great reason why your doing it though...

yep, it cannot be a silly reason, but if you have it, then why not? surgeons must assess you so that you don't do anything that is really antinatural, but once that is taken care of i don't see the problem really.

i belive that it is wrong as all it does is changes what you look like it doesnt make you any different a person as you are still the same on the inside and no amount of surgury will fix that. But on the other hand i do think that it is great when someone has an acident and face is burnt for example then i belive it is ok to use

it all depends on the situation to why they are getting plastic surgery. if it was to fix up a feature like their face them im all for it, or for some large people they lose weight and they have skin drooping down then they should be able to get removed. but for boobs and stuff like that, i am against it. so can i be in the middle lol

i am for it has long has it is for genuine medical reasons i believe that what we are given we shud always hav pleasure in treasuring plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons isnt good because people shudnt feel so uncomfortable or unconfident in them sleves to alter them selves
