I think most of you know I live in Central Scotland This is supposed to be our summer , summer ? you would never believe it , It is really quite cold today , I have just unplugged the laptop , as there is a thunder storm right above the house , The rain is just pouring down the street and the drains are having a hard time coping with it all , And the thunder claps are really loud . This so reminded me of when I was small , If there was thunder and lightning my Mum would pull out all of the electric plugs from the wall and she would go hide in a cupboard , I thought this was really funny at the time , she wouldn't come out until the storm had passed over , I had a friend who's video recorder blew up because the lightning hit the TV aerial and came right down through to the video and burned it out , I don't go all around the house pulling plugs out but I did disconnect the laptop I am working on , Just to be on the safe side , I want to loose weight but not by roasting it of lol , Have you any good tales to tell then , I am looking forward to them xx

No I don't think I am scared of lightning or thunder - not if I am not outside and exposed. :P In Singapore, the weather is not that savage so we are quite fine with thunder and lightning. They are dangerous yes and we do have the odd guy dying from him but that's that.

Hey we have thunder and lightening here right now in rainy Essex! As a child I was petrified of thunder and lightening and would hide under my bedclothes, sometimes I would grab my blanket, teddy bear and pillow and rush into my parents room and sleep on the floor beside mum! I used to make dad promise to me that it wouldn't thunder before going to bed, I would stay up as late as possible not wanting to go to bed alone. I still hate lightening even now and I get dreadful headaches which means there is going to be a storm!

I used to when I was just a little bunny. My imagination will start kicking thinking that the thunder looks like a giant ball of fire, LOL. I;m not scared of thunder and lighting but I tend to react when the thunder is booming real loud. Otherwise, I am still sane and in one piece.

Hi weemam, hope all is well. I would have to say that I am the opposite when it comes to thunder and lightening. I absolutely love it. I will go to the window, sit and watch the lightening and listen to the thunder. I have been like that ever since I was a kid for some reason. Take care xx

Hi Weeman, I am not scared of thunder or lightning.I like sitting outside and watching it.I know it's not a good idea to sit outside when it is lightning because it can kill you if you get hit by it. But it does not scare me at all.

When I was a teenager, lightening struck our mobile home. It was about midnight My step sister and I were in the bedroom both awake. When it hit we laid there for a second but something told me to go into the living room. We opened the door and smoked filled the lie room. There was a fire under our sink. I guess the lightening traveled through one of the outlets and set some papers on fire that was in our house. I yelled for my dad who got up and ran into the kitchen along with my step mom. He kept saying I need something to put some water in. My step mom handed my dad his lunch pail which only made him mad. "I need something else!!" he yelled. She got a bowl and filled it up and he threw it on the fire. Its a wonder he wasn't electrocuted since it had went through the outlet. But he put it out. Mean time my step mom had called the fire dept. By the time they got here the fire was out , but they still checked to make sure it was out. That was a scary night for me. BUT I still love thunder and lightening storms. I love to watch the lightening streak across th sky. I love to hear the thunder after wards. I have a friend who is deathly afraid of thunder and lightening and she will hide in a closet till its over with.No matter what you tell her she will not come out till its done.

I enjoy thunder and lightening - as long as I am inside, warm, dry and safe! lol The biggest gripe is that it affects my cordless phone, mobile and like you I unplug my laptop! grrrr I am sure I have some funny stories but these painkillers make my mind too foggy to recall them - oh well, I will get back to you if and when I remember them! xxx

Oh, weemam, your story is so funny because it reminded me of how my great-aunt used to behave during a thunderstorm. I think I probably inherited much of my fear of storms from her. She also did the whole unplugging everything in the house. We had a nice living room with French doors that was only used on special occasions. She would herd us into this room and forbid anyone to make a sound because she said that we should be quiet while the Lord was doing his work. The lightning did strike our refrigerator once when she did not get to unplug it in time. This only reinforced her tactics, lol.

lol there would be no way of convincing her otherwise after that lol xx

We get excited in thunderstorms, mainly becaue we don't have them often, & where I come from, rain is rare. However, I realise the dangers of thunderstorms, especially if overhead. We turn off our TV, not talk on the phone, & if really necessary, turn off the computer. I viosted Scotland once, & realise the very beautiful scenery, is partly a result of a lot of rain. I do hope you don't receive any damage to your house during this thunderstorm.

Thunder and lightning don't bother me but I remember a horrific hailstorm once. I got my daughter and grandson and the dog and we huddled inside my big built in wardrobe. The sound was truly alarming and it lasted over five minutes. We later found holes in my cladding and there were hundreds of cars with tremendous hail damage. Many people were able to buy cars cheaply provided they didn't mind all the dents in the body work and the panel beaters were kept busy for a couple of years repairing the damage. A hail storm must bring horrors to car dealers.

I wouldn't say I'm scared of thunder, but I am scared of lightning. Lightning can strike anything. I certainly wouldn't want to get struck by it. Whenever I'm outside and I hear thunder in the distance I know that lightning will be coming soon so I take cover so to speak LOL and get inside the house.

I am not scared of thunder and lightning if I am prepared for it. I am always prepared if it rains heavily. I am scared if the roar is sudden and loud. There was once the lightning strike so close to the table where my colleague and I were seating. It wasn't raining, but the lightning came before the rain. I was really scary.

no, i am not much scared in thunder and lightning if i am not out of my house it is lightning very much, if it is lightning so much then i get a little bit scared if i out of my house and driving standing out but i think that it is not a problem because it is normal and happens to everyone.
26 Jun 07
yes i am scared of thunder and lightening, i love in london so we dont really get bad storms here, but if i was in countries where the storms get bad i think id have heart failiure. I go around the house turning all the electric off, unplugging all the plug and i hide under my bed(not a ver good example for the kids)LOL. What scared me of it , was one year as a kid i was on holiday in Ireland, it became very grey and started to rain fairly heavy, i was staying with my auntie, who asked me to run out side to get the toys in from the garden, well i ran out as i did the lightening struck a tree a few feet from me..... I was shocked and scared could not move a muscle. So thats what scared me of storms. I have gotten a bit better though as i donr want my kids to grow up scared.
