I'm finally getting serious about losing weight. Eating better, walking more, etc. Do you have any tips or tricks that have helped you along the way? Please share them!

i am not sure what type of diet this is but it was shared with me by a weight loss consultant. it's fairly simple. the diet is to avoid carbs intake for 4 straight days. then on the remaining 3 days of the week, eat carbs as you normally would (don't take more than you usually do). i lost 20lbs in 2 months with this diet.

That sounds very interesting. You don't restrict what you eat at all, other than to avoid carbs?

I have lost 42 lbs from the South Beach diet, and I walk at home with walk away the pounds. I found it to be very helpful.

I've heard very good things about the South Beach diet...I'll have to go check out the book. Do you have any favorite recipes?

Unfortunately no one in my family can complete step one of the South Beach diet due to getting sick from not eating carbs

definately you need to exercise a lot it`s not going to be easy but i walked a lot and did a lot of swimming ,but as for eating just cut your meals down to smaller amounts and i did find that eating strawberries as my main fruit did help me to loose a considerable amount of weight. I wish you well and hope you succeed

Thank you for the well wishes. Exercise has always been a big hurdle for me, but I'm trying! I know the hardest thing about exercising is getting out the door, so I've been telling myself that if I still feel like turning back in five or ten minutes I can. Usually I don't.

I have found that exercising right before you eat really works. I walk on the treadmill for about 20 minutes right before I eat and it has been working. They say that after exercise your body works through the calories faster. But of course I have changed my eating habits. You have to do that.

I usually exercise after I get home from work, before dinner, when I can. Working on changing eating habits....more fruit, veggies, etc.

I know it sounds totally silly but the best weight loss tip I have ever received was to drink lots of ice water. I am not a medical person at all fo I can't explain it but when I started drinking the ice water (and really changed nothing else for awhile) it helped. There is a formula for how much you are to drink a day but I can't remember it. I just keep a water glass close and sip all day long. Good luck.

I do drink a decent amount of water, but not ice water. It hurts my teeth! If you remember the formula, please let me know.

I've lost about 40 pounds in the last six months. My two best tips are this. When you are eating a sandwich, instead of eating chips eat carrots. You still get the crunch and the finger food feeling. But, they are so much better for you. I get those little ones that are ready to eat. The second tip is to add weights to your workout. I wear ankle weights and wrist weights when I walk and I am planning on getting a weight vest. Those two things have helped me immensely.

Well, nothing beats a good exercise and right diet. I have tried slimming teas, diet pills but none of them worked. Then I started to do walking. Usually I just walk home everyday which takes an hour. During my day off, I play badminton with friends or do biking. Then I lessen my rice. I just amke sure i only eat half a cup and during dinner, i dont eat any rice just veggies and a little of meat. It did work for me. Now I am just starting to maintain my weight.

I already drink lots of water, and try not to eat after 8pm. Sugar is the one I'm working on right now!

About 2 months ago I stopped eating sugar and any sugar products. I tried loads of diets but with four kids (2 teenagers) I just don't have the time or energy to make different meals. So I stopped the cakes, chocolate, cookies etc. And lost 5kgs. Not a lot but since I was gaining about 1kg a month this is great. Also with the summer here salads, and fruits are high on the menu. I try to exercise but it's hard. Want to wite more but I've just been told that thepower is going off!! dreamjapan

Sugar and white flour are big weaknesses for me, so I generally try to make sure I'm not exposed to them.
