I would rather read it. Because then I can skip over the topics that don't interest me. If I watch the news I have to hear about things I don't care about.

I do both. It depends on my mood. I use online news if I'm looking for specialized information about an issue like disability, gay rights, or whatever. I watch the news for local coverage or a world news overview with pictures and videoes.

Hi 2wicelot have a nice day... Yes its better to read the news online rather than watch it in the television. but if the internet is not available its fine to watch it in the home TV. Sometimes if the connection is slow I still watch the news through my TV specially if the news is worth watching for.

I do both, but I read the news more. I tend to trust what I read more, bc I can check various sources on the internet rather than listening to one news network. I sometimes have the news on the tv while on laptop, and if a news story catches my attention, I'll look it up online.

Either method is OK with me depending on where I am and what mood I am in. I don't like reading newspapers because of the size, but I enjoy publications such as Time, Newsweek, and others like that. As for listening to it on the radio or watching TV, I prefer things like MSNBC, CNN and the BBC World Service.

It is a habit for me to read newspaper when I am taking breakfast every morning. If I am not in a hurry then I will read it after breakfast. Usually I will go through all the pages first then I will choose what I want and read through it carefully and get the detailed information. If I come across any valuable articles I will cut them down and keep them in my files as my collections of information for future reference.

You could not really blame these people who prefer the news on writing rather than watch it. Yes, tv/cable news are getting to be entertaining rather than to informed. I still watch news for visual purposes but if I want details I usually read the news. I still use both medium anyway.

I would much rather read the news online. That way, I can pick choose and refuse what I want to be exposed to. When You watch it on television, they decide what you see and when you see it. I don't like that kind of control.

They would always like to bring "Breaking News" and keep on talking about the same news item over and over again but just changing it slightly from hour to hour. Inviting experts etc. And they like to bombard us with celebrity news like Paris Hilton and stuff like that.

I am a news addict and have to watch the news every morning. I used to watch it in the evening also but I was getting the same news several times a day. Now I watch the morning news and then get any other information from the internet. The news programs on TV do seem to be there more for entertainment then to give the news. I will use our local CW station as an example. They give five minutes of news and then clown around for the rest of the hour. It is pure entertainment. You never can get any detail on the story on any news channel whether it be a national twenty four hour station, national new broadcast, or local news. So you have to turn to the internet to get the whole story.

In a recent interview, Al Gore said the boundary between infomation and entertainment in news has bee bkurred. The news channels are expected to also generate income by their parent companies so they usually resort to all sort of entertainment and tabloid reporting they can. This really makes a lot of misinformation and it seems they just report on stories that would be exciting and leave out other serious news stories.

I also do both and enjoy them equally. I believe that the news on the internet are more diverse and maybe more comprehensive. I also agree that the news online lean more to entertaining the audience than giving the news. But I do enjoy it at night when I relax on the sofa and watch the news on tv better than reading it. It seems like I do less effort than when I have to read myself on the internet or on paper. It's like somebody is doing that work for me :-) Take care 2wicelot.

I think if we watch them, we can see the real thing. What cameramen have taken during the situation may be true because we can see it right there and then. I f we will read them, all we can do is just imagine how things happen and there are no visual effects that we must feel what's going on really.

I never had a chance to watch a local TV news program here, conflict with my other busy schedule. And I agree that mostly they want to entertain rather than the real job to inform.
