i read from somewhere that bananas can help you from depression. after eating a banana, depressed people feel much better. this is because bananas has tryptophan. it enhances our mood naturally. our body converts it to serotonin, which makes us relax, improves our mood and makes us feel happier. would you try it?

I love bananas already so this is just another plus for me! I think it's great that some foods can have such effects on us - it's a shame we're eating less natural foods these days and more processed foods which have basically no value for us at all!
I read somewhere the other day that if you eat a raw potato before going to sleep, you will wake up in a better mood, because it encourages the production of some hormone while we sleep (I'm afraid I don't know the name of it...). And also, eating celery before bedtime will make you sleep better! :o)

wow that is some additional knowledge for me. i would like to try potato and celery for natural supplement. i love potato and celery too so i guess it will definitely work with me. yes say no to processed foods as it is synonymous to cancer LOL.

I like the way you added 'LOL' to that sentence - the government will have us believe that everything causes cancer these days - from certain foods to biting our nails :p

the local tv has just read a news item about banana's cure for depression. this must be the same information as what you are sharing here. i eat bananas almost everyday because they are cheaper here in our place compared with other fruits like mango, apples, etc. besides they give many beneficial effects like cure for anemia, high blood pressure, constipation, DEPRESSION, even hangovers, and many more.

I guess I better try it...tryptophan is also found in warm milk, right? The same relaxing and soothing effect when one retires to bed at night. Well, I'll remember that...everytime I'm depressed, I need to have bananas ready just in case. Well, that's a good sharing...Have a nice day...

I had never heard that, but I love bananas, so it would definitely be worth a try. I think that I will try this with my son when he is going through his depressions too. He doesn't need to know why I am encouraging him to eat more bananas, but it is something that I can probably get him to eat and we can see what happens.

i love bananas so eating them knowing it is good for our moods is even better, i love making banan bread, do you think this counts 2, as 3 bananas go in to the recipe LOL:):):):):):) it will give me an excuse to bake it more often LOL

yeah make it an everyday snack if you want. they say 2-3 bananas a day is very healthy.
