For pete's sake. Now, there is a scientist warning about global cooling. No, he is not crazy or stupid. The fact of the matter is that while we are entering into a global warming phase, that phase will take a few thousand years to come to complete fruition. In the next couple of hundred years, the earth could cool a little as the temperature of the earth slowly zig zags its way slowly upwards. It is enevitable that some of the zigs and zags will be to the down side. This man says the next zig zag is to the down side. Read all about it here. http://pittsburghlive.com/x/valleyindependent/s_514325.html My take on it is that there is a long term warming trend but a short term counter cooling trend is possible. In a way it is just like the stock market. Highly unpredictable and when it does go UP or DOWN it does not do so in a straight line. It zig zags up and down in the over all given direction. So what do you say? Should these scientists just be quiet about all this? Aren't the projected changes actually too small to worry about? Is this all too confusing? Do you have an opinion on what is going on?

It seems it is like the stock market indeed (or is the stock market like the trend of global warming and cooling?) where there are some that predicted a bull market while others predicted a bear market, when most of these saw a trend, the trend is nearly on it's end so it's quite possible there's gonna be a global cooling, the only thing that stood in the way of it is that there is a scientist that warned for it. On the stock market you can always here of a crash that's gonna come soon, the reality is that the crash are coming on the moment when almost noone predicted them (and the one who did it was just lucky) ,afterwards everyone told it's normal because stocks were overvalued etc... and you must avoid the stock market because it's gonna be down further, the reality is that mostly on that moment a new bull market starts. In fact this is easy to explain, when everyone are sure about a thing they are going to take action on it or they have already done it,when everyone thinks stocks are gone rise further they have already bought and their next action should on the selling side and that means stocks are going down, when everyone is affraid to buy stocks because of the downward risk they have already sold and there are lots of short positions so next action must be on the buying side,so stocks goes up. I think in global warming or cooling ,it's about the same, the question is where in this cycle are we on that moment? How much scepticals about global warming are still there? The Belgian weatherforecasters who were really sceptical some time ago about global warming are now convinced of it ,that could mean the trend of global warming is nearly on its end,but there could also be a counter trend that made new scepticals about global warming before global warming goes further.

I think comparison to the stock market is an apt analogy, particularly in the political nature of its twists and turns. I think what is way more frightening than what the weather may be doing on its own is what scientists may be doing to the weather, and also whether witch-hunts are going on to ruin and discredit scientists whose opinions differ from whatever view may be considered politically correct at any given moment.

Just let them all keep talking, because the more they contradict each other, the more the people are going to realize that no one really knows what they are talking about. The bad thing about all of this global warming/cooling BS is that a lot of the people, and the liberal politicians are going to make a political issue out of all of this and try and pass legislation that will in reality accomplish nothing more than hurt us and the economy. I have already seen some reports of legislation being considered dealing with global warming, and people are buying into the idea that man is to blame. Personally I think if we would round a few of these fear mongering scientists up and burn them at the stake it would slow down some of the claims that they are constantly making in the name of bad science...of course that is just my personal idea of a possible solution. Seriously though, there is nothing anyone can really do about global warming or cooling, and the sooner people realize this, the better off we will all be.

Burn some heretical scientists at the stake! Wow, I like the sound of that. Mind boggling that these guys think we can change the temperature of the earth.

It would work for some liberals and politicians too.

I would like to know why all these genius scientific minds have been getting on this so much lately....opposed to why not alot sooner...? Such as Al Gore as well...My concern is what if they are wrong and what we are doing to our atmosphere dosent take that long to effect us? I think that things have sure been placed on the back burner for awful long periods of time, dont you?

You really bring up a very good point. Why has global warming only just now become a "hot" topic when it is obviously so important? I really have no idea. My guess is merely that humans have a tendency to not react to most dangers until there is almost a crisis.
