I don't know about you but those pesky things don't leave me alone for one minute. I can be surrounded by many people. They might be wearing perfume, colors that attract mosquitoes, they could even have a sign saying " Mosquitoes, bite me!" But hey, it's me that will get all the bites. I've hears many reasons for this, but have no idea if they're true or not, all I know is that they always come to me LOL What about you? DO they gang up to bite you or leave you alone?

No they do not lol. Mosquitoes have their seasons too so sometimes they bother me not at all. Other times, they kept biting me. It is no fun at all when they get playful.

Yes they do and I just finished reading on the net that they are attracted to the smell of sweat and your breath, not colors or perfume.....I guess that's why they come to me,I don't wear perfume or wear bright colors.....I'm kind of bland

I don't wear perfume either, specially if I'm going camping or something like that. But you're right they still come. ANd because I am a bit allergic I swell up so much. Even when my husband gets bitten he gets just this little tiny dot and that's it, me.... end up with limbs twice their size LOL Actually the doctor always recommends for me to start taking benadryl the day before I go camping and to continue while I'm there just to minimize the swelling.

This is a very interesting topic , I think the mosquitos prefer the people with O-type blood, and hate B-type blood. You can also wear a bright pink shirt to get rid of them.

That could be an idea but I am type A blood, so I don't know where that would fit :) I tried different colors to see if it worked but with me it really didn't make a difference. Even when I'm completely covered with a track suit at night I still get bitten trough the pants or the sweater LOL

Means you are facing sme problem there. right now there is no mosquitoes as they comes in the season. but when they come, we have tobe protected otherwise they bite everywhere where they find place to bite and makes the body miserable. we often use mosquitoes protected net to protect ourselves from the mosquitoes as they are the reason of outburst of diseases. You are probably eating lots of sugar thatwhy they bite more then others. probably is the reason why they always comes and bite you.

I read about the sugar thing once. I also read that they come guided by the CO2 we exhale, that the perfumes attract them etc. I just don't know which ones are the ones that get them to come to me, but that they do LOL Once we went camping to this campground and had to go and buy the protective net as well or we couldn't be there at all.

Hi arkaf61. Just like you do, my husband and I attract mosquitoes more often than any of our family members, friends and everyone around us. My husband always says that our blood are possibly sweeter than others! Well, now I remember one of the reasons why I just love staying in New Zealand a few years back. I think it's too cold for the mosquitoes to live and breed there. Oh, for protection I use mosquito nettings as well as repellent. Try reading information on mosquito nettings, repellents, control and what are mosquito bite treatments and what attract mosquitoes to human at http://www.mosquito-nettings.com/

I"m so sorry to hear you habe trouble with mosquitoes as well :) I guess I just have to face the fact that I will never get rid of those mosquitoes and their bites hehe I did have to wear a hat with netting once when we went camping. As for a place where it is too cold for them to live and breed, for me that would be a mixed blessing because I do like warm weather :)

Bugs like me. Especially for a snack. Like with you, they may not bother anybody else..but they'll bite the heck outta me. I've a better deal with animals I guess..animals even normally unfriendly ones are usually like new friends whenever I meet them. Crawlies? Insects, arachnids..they either just wanna ignore me, or they wanna eat me lol.

As far as I know, mosquitoes love human sweat and black color. I always got bitten if there were some in my house but fortunately not by those that transmit life threatening dengue fever. It is said that if a person bitten the second time by a dengue mosquito, he may not survive.

Yes dengue fever can be quite serious. Thankfully all I get from the bites is a big swollen bite site hehe

Perhaps your blood is sweet enough to attract the mosquitoes :P Perfume or any decordant and colored clothes is one factor for attracting insects especially if the weather is humid and the body feels warm and sticky. I have heard that if you take bittergourds regularly, mosquitoes will take you as strangers and not become friendly with you, not to mention kiss. True or not, I leave it to you to decide. I did not test it out. Perhaps mosquitoes does not like the smell of bittergourd.

I know what you mean. I'm mildly allergic to them so my bites usually swell up several times its size. I had one for example on my wrist that made my whole hand swell! Hate it LOL

I have the same problem you do! Mosquitoes literally love me! I can be in a group of people and be the only one being bitten, and no repllent seems to work very well. I don't think eating spicy food repells them because i love spicy foods, eat them all the time, and they still love me. I have been told they literally see in thermal vision so if you cover most of your body they can not see you as easily... hope this helps.

hmmm maybe that will help. ON the other hand it's so hot covering really makes it worse LOL nothing is ever easy is it? Can you imagine such little tiny things being able to bother us so much???? LOL

In the summertime I try to have more garlic in my food. I do this because I learned years ago by experience not someone telling me to eat garlic keeps the mosquitoes away. they don't land on me when I eat garlic in my food daily. last summer I didn't eat very much garlic and I got bitten a few times. this summer I hope to get back to my habbit of adding garlic.

I heard that too. I use garlic when cooking, quite often, but not everyday. Maybe I should use it even more often during winter.

Mosquitos see me as a walking banquet. I get bitten time and time again and no matter what I use as a repellant, they still bite. So far the best I have found is citron, but going out in the evening stinking of lemons is not always pleasant. They definitely gang up on me :-(

LOL poor boyfriend, I know exactly how he feels :) I don't know. I think certain people do attract them more than others for some reason. SOme people say it's something regarding our blood but that doesn't seem to make much sense, some say it's our scent, other say it's the Carbon dioxide that we exhale, but if that was the case, them all people do that so there shouldn't be a difference. I just don't know, I guess I will never know the answer LOL

They leave me alone for the most part. I rarely get bitten and if I do it's only or two. I have friends that get bitten like 50 times in one night! Incredible! But I heard rumors when I was in Indonesia of what attracts mosquito's. I heard if you eat a lot of banana's you will be their prime target. Whatever they to your skin or maybe the smell attracts them. But if you eat a lot of spicy food it repells them! They don't like spicy. I usually eat a ton of spicy food...jalepeno's on everything!! So maybe there is a little truth to that statement.
